I apologize.. I did not use a range finder to figure how wide the fairways were ....lets say 100 yards wide (how could anyone miss them)

All the width in the world couldn't help me that day.  I could hardly find the planet, much less the fairways and greens.

I don't think I'll get back before it goes private, but I'd certainly like to play it again a few more times.  Would definitely take a cart.

I think City's favorite part was the European bath house type feel we had going in the locker room.  For a bunch of dudes getting ready to spend 5+ hours in a car together right after, that was so clutch.

I dont know what hole that is but thats one where if you walked I think you had to walk all the way left and around the lake.

Seemed very inconvenient.

I didn't like Dormie the first time around.  There were two holes where I was in trouble off the tee after hitting what looked like a perfect shot.  Just some blind stuff that you wouldn't know about the first time through.

Second time through, I enjoyed it a lot more.  The golf experience there still stunk (transfers, clubhouse, employees), but the course itself was enjoyable.

If they nuked all the scrub grass and converted it to regular grass or pine straw, the course would be immensely better IMO.  As would pace of play.  I don't know how anyone gets in the scrub grass when the fairways are 175 yards wide, but I managed to do it frequently.  It's thin enough to give you hope of finding and playing your ball, but thick enough that you could easily lose it and could easily not have a swing at it.  It slowed down pace while people found balls in there, and then was basically a coin flip as to whether or not you were penalized for being in it.

Sully, here’s another option: declaring all unmown areas an environmental hazard.

I’m sure everyone would be on board with that idea.

That was one of those shots that was so impressively bad that you just wanted to die laughing. But also one where you knew that the person hitting the shot saw no humor in it, that he had a gun in his bag, and that the frequent gunshots from hunters around Dormie would provide the cover he needed to kill you.

I played last year's TRU with said person, and he hit a shot like that.  This year I got to that hole and was recounting the shot to my playing partners and wasn't sure if I was embellishing it or not.  It was the most dead solid right non-shank I've ever seen in my life.  Crisp, dead solid contact about 75 degrees right.  As a slicer, it was particularly amazing to me just how inside out a swing has to be to do that.

golf yesterday at hialeah was pretty cool.

no rain.  sunny and hot, but enough breeze where no one was a bout to pass out.  done by 6:20.  me & city (walkers) vs. ol kenty and self-banished PQ (cart riders).  good match, lots of blood.  kenty went 3/3 on sand saves on the back 9 to either halve or win a point.  good stuff.

i was mostly confounded by the greens.  city tried to help me, gave me some good reads when i asked, and i'm either a terrible listener or awful executioner.  3 of the putts i "knew" were in - walking them in - missed.  very irritating.  still, i really enjoyed the course.  we played one up, and i'm glad we did.  there's a few really nice holes out there with awesome framing.  like, the hole "fits" into the surroundings.  i like that.  some of the tee shots are VERY intimidating to me however.  i'd definitely like another shot at it, now that i know a little bit about the course.

kenty started out a bit rough, but got better once he adjusted to the greens speed (and stopped hitting it into hazards).  pq was off, he hit some crazy shots that i've never seen from him.  nice recoveries when he could.  made a bomb on 17 to steal a birdie that won them the back.  city and i won the front and overall and had a chance to win/push the back.  after coming back from 2DN, i missed a birdie from 6 feet to match PQ on 17 and that was that (18 is a par 3, typically tough to win that hole outright).

city got mad at himself for throwing the round away (he was killing it).  he'll be fine.  when he puts the full 18 together, watch out.  the "shooting par or better" barrier is gonna get smooshed. since the last time i played with him, everything is the same or better.  the sound of impact is so flush.

It had a bit less curvature. Equally right, but at least somewhat straight.

Did the same thing into a pond yesterday. Not like a “oh is it going to go in the pond” ball, but like an “oh don’t kill the kid 100yds right in the paddle boat” ball.

Glad I will always have that special memory of Dormie. Really glad I don’t remember the Sully version.

Agreed my curvage was unfair to how beat the ball was almost a dead straight ball into the lake that almost cleared it.

I'm gonna try playing Freaky Friday every 10 minutes or so when listening to the Fried Egg pod, to see if that can help me make it through an entire episode.

That song is catchy as hell.

Siegel they are the sketchers go golf elite v2. Spikeless ones.

I'm not sure if I have this model, or the model before this one, but I have them in gray and they are really good.  My feet are always dry and they are light and comfy.

I have a couple pairs of the Go Golf Drive 2 but have been looking at the Elites.

So I got my new cart bag last night, nice to have a bag that fits perfectly on the cart. Motocaddy has these two metal nubs on the bottom of the bag that perfectly click into place on the cart. Love it. The tilting thing is that there is no handle or strap on the "front" of the bag - its on the back. I guess this isnt abnormal for cart bags (?) just in a couple of random Ogio models I looked at. But its definitely oddly balanced when you pick it up. Either way it will be nice to have the extra room.

Yeah, my Ping Traverse is like that. One of the first times I picked it up, I had pockets open and dumped stuff all over the ground. Have definitely preferred cart bag for push cart more than carry bag for push cart.

So I wondered if the odd balance thing was a common cart bag problem - although I know there are models that have the strap on the front and that does seem easier to pickup/carry. Hey I did carry bag on push cart for years. Even with a hefty/sturdy stand bag though it still has issues with twisting off to one side.

Oh and I've yapped for years about hating 14 way bags too - and I already like it. The putter well is sort of a 15th slot too for carrying an extra to the range.

Sometime around July when it stops raining I look forward to getting out again.

So I am playing the 2 man qualifier Monday at Winchester CC. I know they have a stream/river that runs through the course and wondered about all this rain. Found these pics of the 10th hole from 3 years ago:
