Only one a nicer grass range will I go barefoot. Actually helps out with balance and feeling the weight shift in the swing.

One of the main page WRX articles is about a club event down south; he mentioned players barefoot.

Its a thing and I think I'll jump on it when I feel its appropriate. Thanks all!

Oceanside, California and flip flops, not barefoot.

Lets not get it twisted...no one makes a full swing in flip flops. Those things are kicked off in every tee box, the way the cavemen did it

But a riot will probably start more based on him wearing denim on the course...

I was having really bad swing problems one year (okay, most years). During a scramble we were behind a group where one guy was wearing flip flops. Come to find he was a club pro. I asked him what was up with the flip flops and he said it kept him from over swinging. He then proceeded to stripe the ball down the middle of the fairway. I switched to flops for many years and it really helped my tempo. Wet days weren’t good but regular nice days it really kept my tempo in check. I’ve since gone back to shoes but occasionally go with the flops to get me centered.

I just bought a pair of barefoot trail running shoes that I am going to try playing golf in. They are insane light, insane flexible and about as much traction as a spikeless golf shoe.

I walk about half of my rounds. My club allows walking Monday - Wednesday and then anytime after 2PM Thurs-Sunday. I really like the idea of a super lightweight super flexible minimalist golf shoe.

I like to hit balls and practice around the pitching green barefoot.. i dont know if it helps balance but i know im much calmer, and more relaxed.  The feel of the grass, the contours, the sand... very relaxing for me.

I have toe issues, and rarely wore socks till I discovered Swiftwick Vibe Zero's, but I have played many a closing 4-5 holes barefoot due to my toes hurting (especially before newer shoes like Ecco w wider toe-box's came out). Famously I played the last 5 holes of Carnoustie barefoot ;-)!

If I thought it was safe I'd love to go barefoot. I think all the herbicides, alone, would have you coming down with agent orange mystery illness within a year...
