Im from Ireland, where we play very little school golf.Inter-club golf is the most competitive for juniors.I'm curious to know what the standard of high school golf is in America, great team, average team etc.Our big tournament is an under-18,7man singles matchplay, and was won last year by sligo.I think their handicaps went scratch,1,2,3,3,4,5.Pretty impressive. Our team this year isnt bad, nothing special though 4,5,5,7,8,9.10.
How does american junior golf compare?

handicaps among junior players are often times bogus because the kids only post the low scores.

I'm a few years out of high school but from people who were on the team with me during my four years ended up playing at the following colleges

Wofford x 3
Furman
Penn State
Ohio State
Brown
Yale
Florida
Navy

In my class, I played at Wofford and another played at Penn State.  One guy tunred down a scholarship to play at Elon to just go to NC State and another guy turned down offers from several ACC schools because he didn't want to play college golf.

A few D3

Since I left kids have gone to play at Virginia, Richmond, Navy and a few D3
The year before I came, 7 seniors went to play at Georgia, Vanderbilt, Wofford, College of Charleston, UNC, Vermont and Furman

no one on my team keeps one but me and i am a 5.     but our rival school, sunny hills, has the most impressive line up i have ever seen it goes something like this handicap wise.  +4 +4 +3 +3 +2 1    something like that, they are much better than that though seeing since they dont update them often they only have them to get into big tournaments.   they have a guy with a ride to ucla one to uci   they have another two guys our younger who will get ride to top schools and they have two amazing girls one won the girls us jr am this summer as a freshman   they are all tops in the ajga and tops in the world.   they are sick  as a team it is rare that they shoot worse than even par when they take the top 5 of 6 scores.

That is sick. However i've heard our handicapping system is much tougher than in America,we count every score shot.Handicaps might not be the best indication of quality.Their team regularly shootin par or better is amazing though.
Just out of curiosity, who is the lowest(handicapwise)junior in the US?

i agree with you on the fact that handicaps are not a good judgement of ability   but beleive me they all are amazing and can shoot low numbers any given day in most cases a few over is horrible for them.
