With Masters around the corner, I started thinking last night that I would love to play the course in a game much like I can play the Old Course at St. Andrews or Pebble Beach. I know it may NEVER happen (as Augusta is very protective of their course) and may not truly simulate the experience of being there, but I was thinking about this last night and said, "What if..."

As a fun topic, would you pay extra for an Tiger Woods (or another golf game) with Augusta National available as a course to play? How much extra would you be willing to pay for this "special edition" of the game??

Again, this is just for fun...I'd rather not see a hundred posts stating why it would never happen...

i would be willing to pay like an extra $10. i play at lunch everyday with 2 other guys in the office and we have a points spreadsheet for wins and everything. and with one of the guys going to the masters this year, we would love it. i think they could make it a download for an extra $$ to. it would be great to see a "Majors" or "grand slam" edition with all the major courses from that year.

I'd pay a bit extra for Augusta National.

btw...is Tiger Woods '08 for Xbox 360 THE BEST golf video game? or is there something better?

I guess the going rate would be $50 since it'd be released as a totally new game by itself. I don't see Augusta ever doing it, but if they were to do it, it'd be as a standalone game I'm sure. There's no way they'd give rights to the course to anyone else to market/sell.

I would pay 25$ exta for it . It would be cool if someone would come out with a game with a design feature , with google earth you could map the course and build it or even build your home course. That would be cool the options would be limitless.

Augusta will never be in a video game, and to be honest I could really care less. It would be fun to play all of the majors but I have just as much fun with the made up courses in Tiger Woods.

For those who play the PC version, check out http://www.coursedow...t/coursesource/ I've downloaded one for TW 2006 (and a bunch of others - some good/some bad) that I play a lot. I can't remember who did the course design off the top of my head, but the guy did a great job. Set the conditions to calm winds and dry greens and you'll have all the golf course you can handle. You'll soon see why it is imperative that players stay below the hole at Augusta National.

Augusta for Links is absolutely stunning. A group of very talented Arnold Palmer Course Designers (included with the game) put it together. This thing is a work of art. I've played both Links and Tiger Woods and there is no comparison, Links is far better.

Scroll down and hit Screenshots. One of the designers, Mike Jones, has a site. He has created some fantastic courses.

Any TW version is simply a no-contest graphics wise.

And this is the 2005 version....there is usually a new version out every year ;-)

Wow - thanks for the info guys. I didn't realize there was an "unauthorized" Augusta National course out there which is great since it may never officially be included with a game.

After some trial and error with TW 2006, I finally got it loaded (author failed to mention a few things in his instructions) and it was fun and humbling at the same time.

Now that I'm seeing the screenshots of the Links version...I think I might need to re-visit one of my old favorite PC games...
