I heard a rumor that there might be a new ping G700 iron to be released at the PGA show. Sounded like it might be a filled hollow body design like the new TM P790. Anybody have any info on these? I'm wondering if they will be G400 sized or smaller sole/top line.

There was a rumor in early summer about a new iron between the iBlade and i200 for February/March timeframe. No mention of G Max replacement, supposedly their hollow body distance design, smaller than i200 with players shape but bigger than iBlade. I think the reps are supposed to see pictures this month.

Seems like that is splitting a pretty fine hair.

Sound like PXG might need to file another lawsuit if it's anything like the TM 790s

Is that even possible as the i200s apart from the long irons are very close size wise to the iblades IMO

I think they will release a 460 G400 driver but don't know specifics.

Ping is on an 18 mo cycle, but for their players iron.  The S55 had an extended run and is still extremely popular.

A poster on Golfwrx that is somehow wired into Ping suggested the next players iteration could evolve back towards the S55 look, but with an updated cpt and hydro pearl finish.

Another rep. disagrees said not until spring and won't be a "players type" club which I suppose gives credence to a G max replacement (but he wouldn't confirm that).

Generally the "players/s-line" of irons is every 3 years or at least that's what both s56 and s55 did so it will still be awhile for that replacement...

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a G700 since it is listed on their trademark list. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see an i500 in the future.

Pretty much what's been said so far.  SGI iron, hollow body, looks like a smaller Crossover.  Some type of dampening material inside the head, as there is a screw in pretty much the same location as the TaylorMade P790.

Any idea on price point ?  Like GMax irons price or are we talking Big Bertha OS, King OS type pricing ?

Hit the G700 irons today and they are awesome! Look so good and the performance was stellar. Thatís all I can say. PING hates info being leaked way more than other companies.

As for the G700 I am hearing 2 stories:

1 - Similar in look to the Crossover however a smaller profile with a good amount of offset aimed at the SGI market.

2 - In other posts I am reading this is Ping's version of a TM P790 and PXG 0311XF, high-end $ option, and if like the TM and PXG would not be SGI at all.

Can anyone clarify?

A Crossover type set of G700's would be awesome.  They gotta get some cost out though because Crossovers are quite expensive.

anyone know when we can expect iblade replacement ?

Ping is on an 18 mo cycle, but for their players iron.  The S55 had an extended run and is still extremely popular.

A poster on Golfwrx that is somehow wired into Ping suggested the next players iteration could evolve back towards the S55 look, but with an updated cpt and hydro pearl finish.

What does "cpt" stand for?  Cavity port, maybe?  I'm lousy with acronyms!
