Had the opportunity to walk a good part of the course today. The PGA had some training meetings , plus there was a social event for the tournament volunteers.
The facility is in wonderful condition. Fairways and greens look mighty fine. Traps have some great edging and I saw some with a combination of fescue like back sides with conventionally trimmed fronts.

Local weather has been most agreeable. Daily forecast for the week is in the mid 70's.

I've included a photo of the bunker complex fronting the green at number eight, a 600 yard par five.
The volunteer center overlooks the fairway for this one, and I did a double take when I saw that monstrous main trap.
Most rope lines hadn't been placed yet; so this was the day to inspect. Please forgive my brick phone camera quality.

Being able to see the tour play here again is great fun and the local charities involved are worthy of support.

I guess someone in the pairing Spieth, Thomas and DJ will win this. But I would love it if someone else do. Diversity is what keeps golf interesting. Not TOO diversive, like a few years ago when there was a new W#1 each and every week. I think that Spieth is in a perfect position now to keep things interesting. He is kind of the numero uno even if he doesnt have the firepower to withstand a player on fire. So he is the guy to beat, but no Tiger. Golf was never more boring than during his 6-in-a-row-runs. I was just, hope he misses that importan putt, hope he misses that important putt.... but he never did.

So, I hope someone else wins this week. Why not Rickie Fowler or Stenson?

As for Conway Farm - ANOTHER one of those Pretty-close-to-Chicago super courses. It feels like each and every grand tournament is played on yet another new course that for a guy just looking at the map looks close to Chicago.  Big town, but still.

OT : Looking at that map, at that part of USA, Lake Michigan has a kind of special shape. I try to avoid noticing that. But it has.

I root for so many guys out there every week that I don't really care who ends up winning as long as good golf is played throughout the week on a good course. With that said, it'd be nice to see Rory win and get into the tour championship next week and end his year on a good note.

I'll be there Saturday and getting to see any of these players games in person is always a treat

I feel the same.  Pro golf is better when Rory is playing at his best.  I'd love to see a little more passion from Rory, and I hope he's feeling fit.

I totally agree with you both but I just can't see it. Rory's heart just doesn't seem to be in it this year. I get that he has had a lot going on - marriage, new clubs, injuries, etc, etc but I think the decision to take a step back after the Alfred Dunhill Links is a tacit acceptance that this year has gone for him and he needs time at home to get healthy and get his game back to where it needs to be and hopefully get back to being Rory in 2018.

It's a no cut tournament. Rory can go 78-77-63-63-281 without worry.

Well they sound fast.  The courses I play always seem to be pretty wet so playing a fairway that dry is hard to even imagine for me.

This inevitably means that there will be some absolute bombs hit this week and we'll have to inevitably talk about 'bringing the ball back' while the guys play on asphalt fairways.

There was a delay in play this morning due to fog. Was able to watch some early work at the 9th green. The tower on the right was my vantage point all day. Hope some pics are OK to post.
The golf seen so far has been great and I'm glad to be returning.
