Should you be using polarized lens or not.

I do use polarized, but they have a bit of distortion at times. My friend uses the Prizm golf and they're pretty sweet, I'm just not a fan of any of the frame options in the Prizm at the moment.

I use oakley prizms in prescription. I swear by these. whether it's sunny or overcast, it works well for me. I like how it increases the contrast, especially when trying to track the ball in the air or reading greens.

they're just dark enough for "sun glasses" and just light enough for overcast conditions. I haven't tried in rain or other conditions, but man...I love these lenses.

Prizm's are prob the best,  Polarized have more options but for green reading they cant surpass the Prizm lenses.

What is so special about prizm that enables you to reading the greens

The prizm golf lenses are a pinkish-orange color which causes the green colors to have higher contrast.

Nothing. It's a marketing gimmick.

This just in: it's not going to help your game one bit.

I just ordered a pair of Prizm prescription lenses for my Flak 2.0 frames. Hopefully should have them here in a couple weeks.

I stay away from polarized due to the distortion on the greens. From the reviews I've heard, there are wayyyy fewer naysayers about the Prizm golf lenses than there are people who think they're a gimmick.

Of course they're not going to make you play better...they're sunglasses....duh. But because they enhance the color green, you can see more detail on the greens. I'm not saying they're anything that's gonna make you drop 5 shots a round...but based on what I could see in the store, they're absolutely an upgrade over the standard G30 lens

Love wearing Oakley's. The last few year's I wore the Black polarized lenses. This spring I switched to the Prizm Daily polarized lenses, I don't like the pink/orange golf lens personally, they are too bright for my liking. The Prizm Daily's are a huge upgrade. Can still see contrast and they darken everything a little bit when it's very sunny so I don't have to squint. Worn them on somewhat cloudy days with no problems as well.

I saw no difference between the Prism and the G30's. Both work great on the course.

Anyone find the more lifestyle Oakleys to work better? I played with Flak 2.0's and recently got a pair of Holbrooks and I love them. I have the prizm lenses in them and they are maybe the best pair I have owned and IMO look very good as well.

i think the uv protection feature is the more important feature rather than polarised for golf sun glasses..

polarised minimizes glare which is more used for those who are on the water but not that needed for golf..

Polarized.  Creates better contrast, removed glare, what's not to like?  Perfect for golf.  Never found black lenses good for golf though.

Try one pair of Smith chromapop, in ignitor, bronze or copper.

Thank me later.

So I have to ask.... are you draining more putts per round while you wear these because you can read the greens better?

I went away from polarized, back to standard lens and they are fine, I just want to protect my eyes from the light on brighter days, but most times, I don't wear any.  Grabbed some cheap Tifosis as my kids seem to be experts at destroying any expensive glasses I have owned.

it's hard to say definitively what the cause of my better putting stats is a result of. I've moved from avg 2.1 putts per hole down to 1.9 over the last 75ish rounds. but last Christmas I was given a putting green so I've worked on putting. I've also worked hard on my wedge play at the range and before rounds.

what I can say is I feel like I'm able to "see the line" better with the lenses than without them. I can see the line better even through shadows that may play tricks on the eye. i also have the best putting days (longer distance putts) while i've worn them. My lag putts have been closer to the hole (line is better, even if my speed is off) so yes I've been closer on more putts. but again, I can't say that 100% for sure that is the cause of better putting but definitely a strong yes for seeing subtleties of the green better so I can see the line.

I sometimes have trouble seeing the ball in flight with my regular glasses on. I can see the ball better in flight with the prizm lenses and they are better than my ray-ban sunglasses that I used prior to getting the Oakley's.

does that make sense?

I used to be an Oakley guy, but switched to Maui Jim's this season and prefer them.  Great frame options, very lightweight, and the lens clarity is superior to anything else I have used.  Also easier to clean the lens for some reason.

to play both side of the coin: the marketing could be creating a placebo type affect - I wear these so I can see the lines better. so you end up focusing more and hit better putts...who knows. lol

I mean you're not going to have a line drawn on the green a la video game mode or something like that. it really does increase contrast though. I think that is what makes it easier to read the putt. you might see a subtle break where without more contrast your eye might not pick it up.

Shouldn't use polarized for golf.  Can you?  Sure.  I have and it was fine, but the color / depth distortions can alter some putting distances or yardages.  I use Bolle golf sunglasses, no polarization, great lenses, light, and fit over a hat easily.  Hope that helps!

I used to be an Oakley guy, but switched to Maui Jim's this season and prefer them.  Great frame options, very lightweight, and the lens clarity is superior to anything else I have used.  Also easier to clean the lens for some reason.

It's because they offer the most superior optics on the market.

10/10 optometrists would agree.

Maui Jim. Wear them all the time- on and off the course. Tried many other options and these are better.

been an Oakley wearer since forever. strictly played with the G30 lenses but since the Prizm's were introduced, i've moved onto those. great lens for all light conditions IMO. everyone's eyes are different - we all like different clubs and can all like different sunglasses. I have about 7 different Oakley polarized lenses at home for every day use on my Flak 2.0 & Fast Jackets, on the course i won't use polarized. i've done so in the past for a couple of rounds but realized i actually needed glare on the green. with polarized lenses it looked flat to me with unable to read any breaks or the grain flow. can't play without my Flak 2.0 and Prizm lenses.

I have tried every so many lenses, including Oakley prizm. Maui Jim blows them all out of the water. HCL Bronze, Maui Rose or Grey. Oakley Prizm was too bright for me. The clarity of the MJ's are hard to describe until you spend some time outside with them.

I used to be an Oakley person. I loved their lenses and their styles. At the time, my only comparison was to cheap Walmart/gas station glasses, so of course they were so much better. After I lost my last pair of them, I went searching for some new glasses. I wanted Costa, so I tried on just about all of them they had in the store. Comparable to the pallets in clarity, but couldn't find a style there that I liked. I tried ray bans, but just didn't like them. Then I put a pair of Mauis on, and it was over. There is no comparison to any other glasses. The clarity is amazing! If you can find a frame style that you like and fits your face, you won't find a better lense.

I just got put in glasses 2 weeks ago, and I am trying to convince myself to spend the $450 on prescription lenses for my Mauis. I know they're worth it, but that's just steep. Currently, one of the lenses in them is cracked, so I've been wearing a pair of frameless costas I bought, but I miss the Mauis. I'm actually thinking about getting contacts for the sole reason of saving money on my Maui replacement lenses so I can wear them again.

For golf specifically, I tried the Oakley g30 for a while, but I have a bit of light sensitivity, and they just aren't dark enough. The Mauis allow me to see, very clearly, without glare or distortion.
