Those are awful, and I'm a huge Hoofer fan. I was thinking of picking up a 4 series and think I better do it now...

Seriously, could they have picked any less attractive colour combinations, and the logo design adopted from the stand bags - not for me.

I really miss the old-school single color Hoofers. Sometimes less is more.

I will be interested in seeing these in person. Some of them do look really busy and I don't like the copper color.

But the new strap system looks interesting. The water bottle pocket on the Hoofer Lite looks to be a nice update. The one on the last 4 Series was awfully shallow and seemed better for a smaller bottle than even a 20 oz. bottle.

I am in the market for a new stand bag. I've had both Ping and Titleist in the past and will probably get one of those again (or Sun Mountain perhaps).

Driver: Ping G400, 9.5, Ping Tour shaft
3W: Ping G400, Ping Tour shaft
Hybrid: Callaway XR 19 degree
Irons: Mizuno JPX-900 Hot Metal 4-PW
Wedges: Vokey SM6 52, 56, 60
Putter: Bettinardi Queen Bee 8 is the most likely option

Interesting comment on the water bottle holder.  I actually thought the water bottle holder on the most recent 4 series was the best of any bag on the market.  Even though it did seem shallow, I never had a problem with my water bottle falling out.  I'd stash a 20oz hydroflask in it w/ no problems.  I think the new hoofer water bottle holder looks like it might be perfect.

Also interesting that they point out the deployable rain hood on the hoofer, but not hoofer lite.  Wondering if they went to a more streamlined hood on the lite version.

There are a few good colorways and I look forward to checking these out in person.

I saw last night that my local PGA Tour Superstore had the new Ping bags in stock, so I made a stop out there today to check them out.

A couple of things of note:

- I think the new strap system could be good. It's hard to know until you have clubs in the bag and it's on your shoulders. The right strap and left strap are clearly different and Ping put thought into the system. Much better padding than the Titleist straps.
- That said, one thing I have always liked about Ping bags is that it is easy to just use one strap and carry it on one shoulder if you just have a short green-to-tee walk or something. Will be interesting to see if that is the case with the new strap system.
- One thing I liked about the new Hoofer is the pocket above the main ball pocket. It's a great place to put a rangefinder. In the new model, it actually doesn't have a zipper. Instead it's a magnet closure. On my current 4 Series, I basically never zipped it up until the end of the round and I'm guessing I'm not the only one who did that. The magnet closure is a nice balance between convenience and security
- The apparel pocket is bigger on this Hoofer. There are still two pockets, so the big pocket doesn't take up the entire length of the bag, but it is better
- I still don't love the lines on the apparel pocket of both bags. They are kind of shiny and pretty busy. The ones that are, for example, black on black look better than the contrasting colors, in my opinion
- I said previously that I liked the water bottle pocket better on the Hoofer Lite than on the 4 Series. I changed my mind after seeing it in person. I think it is going to be a pain getting the bottle in and out of there.
- The water bottle pocket on the new Hoofer looks great.

Just a few thoughts. Hopefully that is helpful. I might actually like the Hoofer more than the Hoofer Lite, but I'm not sure.

That's the Canyon Copper accented model.  There's one with that color in every model (I believe, don't have my catalog in front of me) to coordinate with the copper of the G400.

Don't believe the copper was in the 2017 line-up online at least for the Traverse.  I phoned Ping early in the Fall asking about prospective changes to the Traverse in 2018 and was told just colour updates such as to tie in to the new G400  colours

I take back a lot of what I said about the Hoofer colors after seeing them in-store today. They generally look much better in person. I wish I'd had my phone with me I would have taken some pics. The blue/gray/yellow and red/gray/black ones in particular look very good.

I'm not sure I'm sold on the change to the straps with the central connection. It's likely to be tougher to carry with one strap for those short walks when you don't feel like going double. The straps are narrower too and maybe slightly thinner as well.

I had convinced myself I was getting a Sun Mountain 3.5 LS, now I'm not as sure. I'm such Hoofer fan through the years it's now a tougher decision. I guess it really comes down to the 1.5 lbs. between the SM and the Hoofer.

I saw the navy/yellow on TGW and ended up ordering it so it's good to know it looks great in person. I have 2017 Hoofer (charcoal/black/red) that's perfectly fine but I really like this color combo.

I'll post a review and comparison if anyone's interested.

"Blue/gray/yellow"?  2018 PING bag?  Which model?  I'm not seeing a blue/grey/yellow in my 2018 catalog at all.

Yea they have some colors not on ping website or catalog, they really dropped ball on the bags this year. Iíve seen them in person and donít like them. The one your talking about is a hoofer and itís the Michigan wolverines colors, navy yellow

"Blue/gray/yellow"?  2018 PING bag?  Which model?  I'm not seeing a blue/grey/yellow in my 2018 catalog at all.

Yea they have some colors not on ping website or catalog, they really dropped ball on the bags this year. I've seen them in person and don't like them. The one your talking about is a hoofer and it's the Michigan wolverines colors, navy yellow

Nevermind.  I just accessed the full catalog, and the blue/yellow bag is in there.  It's a "seasonal" colorway, along with the white/black, and graphite/teal/green bag.  My bad.

For those that haven't seen it, it's below:

Yeah, oddly that one doesn't show up on the Ping website.

The material on the bags this year is really thick and rough, seems they tried to make it bombproof, lol. Kinda thick and bulky

I finally ended up pulling the trigger on the SM 3.5 LS. In the end it came down to the weight savings. I also think it will be easier to carry single-strap when necessary vs. the new Hoofer configuration.

I feel so disloyal, this is my first non-Hoofer bag in many, many years... :o

Took a look at the previous model Pioneer yesterday and was surprised at how cheap looking the fabric, stitching and other details were.  There was a 2018 Sun Mountain C-130 on display and it seemed a little heavier, but the quality was way better than the Pioneer. Plus, it is made in the USA which to me is a HUGE plus.  I'm not a Ping bag hater as I have the last 2 Traverse models and love them for their light weight and smaller profile.  Pioneer looked to be a second rate quality bag at the price point which is a shame because the pocket layout and lighter weight are very good features.

I have to disagree. I have both and use the Pioneer. Itís lighter, not as bulky, has a great cooler and magnetic pouch which is perfect for my rangefinder. The C-130 is a great bag, no question but prefer using my Pioneer instead.
