Nice review.  I too thought the MMC were a great feeling club.  I used to play the 59's and then went into the 25's two years ago and still have some life left in them.  I recently went through a fitting with all three 18 models and I thought I'd end up getting matched with the 18's or the 18 SC's, but the MMCs were the clear winner for me.  They felt so good.  I'm still not convinced I'll keep my 25's for another year because I know in the back of my mind I really want the MMCs. :)

Hello what handicap fits the MMCs? Thank you

I dont think its a handicap thing as much as it is a preference thing. As a single digit i seriously considered the MMC but really wanted the blades and when comparing them side by side they are very close. MMC is more forgiving but the thinner sole on the blade fit me better. I also know a few pros club pros at scratch using Fli Hi as far into the set as possible then using the MMC. Its will always come down to what you truly prefer

Took my flihi 2 iron out yesterday and really liked it. My swing has been terrible to the point where I wonít touch driver and the 2 iron hit fairways all day and I could still get it out to 250-265 which Iím fine with. Mine has a px Lz 6.5 and fun fact I learn when putting a grip on is that shaft doesnít have a 2 iron equivalent as mine had a 3 iron shaft in it.

Oh these irons are good in every way possible. The short irons look so much better then my previous MP5. The finish is perfect. Feel is a little more dense which I love. All this flu hi love has me considering a 16 to fire missles down the fairway

Interesting. That's a beautiful bag! This year I started playing the JPX900 forged irons and really love them. Interestingly, I did add a 3 iron and it was the 18 hi-fli. You know...I'm not comfortable enough with that club for some reason. Need to dedicate some time to it. My 900 4 iron is one heck of a bomber, and I wish they had that model 3 iron. But, your set of irons here looks sweet. Thanks for sharing all the pics.

I don't think there is a necessary handicap 'requirement' so to speak.  Mizuno used to advertise that the MP 59's were for a range of +2 to -13, and these are very similar to those (just like the MP 15's), so I would assume that is the standard recommendation.

The best advice I ever got about irons was this - choose something with the most forgiveness that you can stand looking at. And as always, get fit.  You'd be surprised at how your swing dictates how the club interacts with the ball, the turf, etc.  Not all irons are the same.  Some have wider soles, more heel/toe weighting, etc. Just because you're a, say, 6 handicap, don't assume one iron is better for you than something else.  Get fit.  Use the data.  Good luck!

Only been able to hit my mp18 blades twice since I got them but so far I love them. Easy to hit. Love the balfight. Way to work the ball ip and down left and right.

Great post and great photo comparisons.  Thanks for the write up.  I'm wondering where you landed too?

Tobybear, thanks for the review and pics. What are you leaning toward? Im leaning toward MP18 Blade 9,8,7 and SC 6,5. Fli Hi 4

Let me reply first by saying Honestly the MMC's are awesome! I would game them in a heartbeat if I was looking for something that offered that extra forgiveness in a very compact profile. Also as someone who has worked as a club fitter and builder for a long time if I was being truly honest with myself it is 100% the club that will offer me the best most consistent results - PERIOD!

But...
I just can't help but want to play blades because although I do play in the occasional tournament or for a few bucks from time to time I don't have to make a living relying on my mishits. Plus I'm a realist as far as my game goes and it's not very often I'll play a course that's too long and forces me to reply on long carries with my long irons. And if needed I'll just pull one club longer or a hybrid.

I still plan on testing everything one more time to determine my final setup but based on what I saw when testing the Mp18 blade 4 iron along with the other models yes by far there was an improvement with the MCC - they go higher and produce better results on mishits but a well struck shot will always be a well struck shot. And I just really want to play blades.

I have the MP 18 Sc 6-pw and the Fli HI 4-5 irons.  I guessed on the fitting.  They feel great but my specs were way off.  I went for a fitting yesterday and the MMC iron was far better for me with the project x 6.0/6.5.  I am a +1 handicap so I don't think the MMC really has a handicap min/max.  I will now be selling my Mp 18 sc combo.  Can't go wrong with any just the MMC fit me better.  Also tried the Ap2, X forged, and Srixon 765.  Ap2 was typical Titleist, looks great but very short.  X forged was pretty good.  Srixon was very good.

Keeping the Fli Hi and going MMC in 6-p?

Still in love.

The FliHis are fantastic and fast and gap so well with the set.

I’ve been a Mizuno iron user for a long time and other than holding onto my older sets for nostalgia reasons I have no reason to have other sets - seriously. Not playing homer on this either. Feel amazing, very well crafted and they look amazing too.

Finished a full rebuild on my set and they are 100% ready to go for the season now along with driver and fairway.

Only thing left is to get some more on course testing to see how the top end of the bag gaps out. Still considering a CLK 2 or 3 H turned down as a possible 5 wood. I don’t carry the lob wedge too often so it leaves me with a spot in the bag - 3 iron won’t be a regular club either so that’s my 14.

I’m by no means a long hitter so gapping and distance control are my keys to scoring well and I try to keep my short game simple. But I really like the strong 3wood to help with par 5s, par 4 positioning and the occasion Loooong par 3.
