Want to know how to tell when its school golf season in Florida? Easy!
1) 75% of practices are called for lightning.
2) The courses are a muddy mess and the practice facilities are underwater most of the time.
3) The A slot players cant make most of the events because it conflicts with football, athletes tend to be athletes.
4) 1/2 the matches are cancelled or shortened for weather.
Why the almighty brain trust of FL state athletics doesn't play in the Spring is beyond me.

1) 75% of practices are called for lightning. Not a problem in SoCal... instead we get FIRE!
2) The courses are a muddy mess and the practice facilities are underwater most of the time... MUD?? That would imply we have water to put on our courses...nope, we play off of hard pack.
3) The A slot players can't make most of the events because it conflicts with football, athletes tend to be athletes.... Well that happens all over so no biggie.
4) 1/2 the matches are cancelled or shortened for weather... We don't have this issue because it's always 75 and sunny.

1)  True
2) I live in Florida on the east coast and this is not true.  Great drainage systems.
3) Not true where I live at all.  All kids on our team are golfers that are going to shoot at or right around par.  I don't know any football player here that is good at golf.
4) True

It isn't played in the spring for three reasons.
1) You can't get a course to play on because it is peak season in Florida.
2) More baseball players play golf than football players.
3) The better players will not play because it conflicts with the real seasons and playing for college scholarships.  This begins the height of AJGA, FJT, SFPGA.
