So I have a issue, it kind of makes me sad but I got the LIFT for my birthday Thursday and paid for overnighting to get it as fast as possible. Today I finally got to take it out and hit it. First hole went ok just didn't feel right, figured maybe my swing new club who knows. I get to a short 410 yard par 4 and go to use it again and it went no where off the tee. Again maybe me atleast that's what I thought. Well I was wrong I tee it up on the next hole after hitting driver just to see. After hitting it I look down and something feels horrriblly wrong. No head is on the shaft. Three swings and this thing fell apart. I am a die hard TMAG fan but this is really making me second guess the quality. I mean this is a special club they released. There is no way anything like this should happen, I'm new here so don't know if I can post pics or not yet. Should I call taylormade and ask for refund or see if I can get a p790 3 iron with same shaft?

Wow! Badges falling off these and now this.  Lots of epoxy failure issues.  Seems like a rushed project with a high price point.

Oh dang didn't know there was a lot of epoxy issues I would of just stayed away. I'll most likely just ask for refund then. Unless they are willing to send a p790 udi. One can dream right.

Best to avoid these due to mounting evidence of assembly/quality issues... :beee:

I did use the stock shaft for a little bit and it held up fine but swapped it out for an atmos black 9x. I’m sure they will take care of you without any issues.

Update on my issue above. Taylormade is a top notch company to work with. They are sending me a new 2 iron and balls over night to go with it. It is hard to find company's with great customer service and now I remember why I only play TMAG

Saw a bunch of people asking about the faces caving, and figured I'd offer my experience.

I have a driver swing speed of around 122....have always hit the ball far and I will say the 2012 UDI's were some of my favorite clubs but I would literally cave the faces in one month. I bought three and they all (ironically enough) lasted a month to the day I bought them, give or take a day or two. Granted I swing pretty hard but caved faces in 1 month? I've caved plenty of drivers and three woods too, but that happened over the course of a half year and sometimes longer, plus I hit way more balls on the range with the driver than I did those 2 irons. Almost never practiced with them, so they were caving with just course play.

That being said I haven't hit these M2's yet, but of the massive game improvement irons I have hit, you can literally feel the face rebounding at impact and the ball exploding. I imagine if you have a higher swing speed these faces are going to cave relatively quickly as well.

TM typically replaces caved heads that aren't tour issued...I wasn't even able to be refunded for my UDI's as I was caving these in 2015-2016 and they weren't producing any other driving irons at the time.

I would assume that if you swing speed is 118+ you're probably gonna cave the thing relatively quickly. Especially considering how addicting they are to hit. I would however imagine that Taylormade will be offering replacements for caved faces now that they are actively producing new heads.

Hope this helps you guys.

This one was a miss for me, unfortunately.  Admittedly, a total impulse buy... I shouldn't be surprised given that there's no way to hit it before buying it. Happy to hear others having success though.  Shaft and head both felt "dead", and I have a HZRDUS Black in a fairway (3HL Tour) that works really well for me.  I do have another shaft I could load it with that typically works, but not sure if I should.  I may give it one more chance as it is before making the decision. On the big plus side though, the 790's had a great first outing this past weekend.

I didn't tip it. I did swing it today at the range, the shaft feels more solid than the stock shaft it came with like you said i felt like i didnt need to put more effort into getting consistent contact. I'm playing it tomorrow so I'll see how it feels off the fairway if i get an opportunity, but off the tee it felt solid

Well I laid my hands on a Diamana D+ hybrid 90 shaft on the eBay cheap that showed up yesterday.  Going to give that a test in mine this weekend.  I'm a huge fan of the Diamana shafts so I'm hoping the hybrid version plays just as nice.

If not I have a few other options I want to try as well.  But with only a few weeks left in the season for me here in MN it would be nice to get this worked out before the snow falls.  LOL

I play the hzrdus black in my fairway wood & for a little while in my driver, and can't hit the hzrdus hybrid shaft for crap.  If you want to keep the club, I suggest reshafting it.  I am playing a Tour AD DI in mine and it made the club so much better.

I play the hzrdus black in my fairway wood & for a little while in my driver, and can't hit the hzrdus hybrid shaft for crap.  If you want to keep the club, I suggest reshafting it.  I am playing a Tour AD DI in mine and it made the club so much better.

Thanks for the recommendation. I do have a Tour AD DI and a KBS Tour Prototype that I am considering, but the other thought is to wait for P790 options in the Spring.  Ah hell, who am I kidding? I'll probably do both.  Thanks again!

I have two more shafts to try in the M2 LIFT before I decide on one.  I have a Diamana Whiteboard 90+ and an Aldila Tour Green 85.  I played the Tour Green in another driving iron previously and had good results.

I could see either of those working well for me too.  I am going to try the AD DI in it before I move on.

I will be curious to see what you think of those two.  I'm putting the same Diamana in tonight and I'm curious on how the Aldila compares.

I am playing Saturday, so I might keep the Tour AD DI in it until then.  I am going to try the Tour Green next.  I will report back.  Let us know how you feel about the Diamana shaft.

I also just recently switched iron shafts to Paderson and they have a hybrid option too that I might try.  I really like the iron shafts a lot.

After a terrible range session tonight, I decided to put the tour green in.  Glueing up now as I type this.  Taking it to the range tomorrow to see how it goes.

For all the shaft changers... I hope ya'll are checking swing weight. Most hybrid shafts are going to be too butt heavy to install in an iron head and come out in the D swing weight range. I would say anything over 90 grams needs to be designed specifically for and iron.

Consider a heavy weight .355 tt graphite iron shaft... there are plenty of good options out there. Most of which will come out to correct SW with only butt trimming required.

This swing weight issue may be why you aren't liking the performance with a particular shaft.

I had to add a mountain off lead tape with the Tour AD DI to get the swingweight up to D2.5.

The Tour Green I put in last night, I left it about a 1/2 long, so I can have some room for tipping if I need to and it is at D5 which I prefer.  I play my driver and fairway wood that heavy.

Did think about trying the KBS Steel Hybrid shaft in this thing too.

To be honest, I rarely look at the swing weight with a shaft change on anything anymore.  Sad to admit but I have had such great luck over the years just going with a "gut" call on trying a shaft out in a particular club head.  When I used to work at the golf shop I always checked it.  Since then I never have.

I think the obsession with finding the perfect graphite hybrid shaft in these long irons is the Achilles heel for many. I've wasted a lot of funds doing this too so I'm not hating lol

I think a lighter steel or graphite iron shaft would provide more consistent weighting and balance point.

I went back to my dgsl300 shaft as I am more concerned about accuracy than length. I tried the amt s300 tournissue that are in my irons and didn’t feel quite the same. Lighter steel is likely the way to go.
