Nike doesn’t own vans. Maybe you’re thinking about converse?

Hell, I’m a sucker for all white golf shoes and these definitely qualify as all white.  May need to scotchguard them. Or at least waterproof spray them.  At $35 I may as well try them out.  Sounds like the comfort is there.

. So Vans is still skater owned and doesn’t make golf shoes.  Equilibrium has been restored to the universe.  I apologise for my ill informed comments and will crawl back under my bridge.

Interesting you see it that way. I too used to skate and love golf. I see it as a chance to wear a brand I love to do something I love. FYI, these shoes aren't being touted by Vans as golf shoes at all. They were designed as all terrain surf shoes to help surfers get comfortably and safely to hidden surf spots. We just happen to find them equally as functional as really rad golf shoes..

Vans was bought in I think 2004. Nothing changed as far as the product is concerned. The focus was to bring the brand to broad retail more than in small skate stores.

I would say that the forefoot padding is excellent with a very forgiving and cushy midsole.. similar to a running/walking shoe.. but like the OG Vans, they have very little heal to toe drop and lateral support is great. If you're a walker, these would be an excellent option.. oh.. and they're ridiculously light!

I've had 3 pairs of Adidas Adicross shoes and I've really enjoyed each pair but I think the Vans Ultrarange may outperform them in the comfort area. Grip is just as good and they are about 1/3 the weight.

I'm really glad to have found this thread... Stopped by the Vans store in the mall to try them out.  Super comfortable and I think they'll have plenty of grip on dry days, similar to most spikeless "golf" shoes.  Probably not the best choice for a rainy day.  I do plan on spraying them with waterproofer for early morning rounds.

I picked these up:

oh man those all black are the business! I got the black and white and grey and white.. If the Mrs didn't put her foot down on buying more Vans I'd probably be on my way to Vans already for a black pair. :P

I'm case you missed my earlier post, I've actually had a full rain round and quite a few early morning dew rounds with my feet left dry as a bone. Not sure if I just did a good job staying out of the water or if Vans has some kind of voodoo magic spell that they put on their shoes.. And that's without any waterproofing.

Please do share your results of their water resistance because I'm still considering some scotchgard.

The footbed isn't removable. I wear orthotic insoles so i had to go 1/2 a size up to get a proper fit

Quick update, for anyone who's interested...

As I mentioned in my prior post, I picked up a pair of these shoes over the weekend.  Today I wore them over to the driving range to see how they handled the movement of a golf swing.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the grass tee area just opened up, so I was able to try the shoes out swinging on real turf, rather than mats.

Overall, I had no issues with traction at all.  I'm really happy with these shoes; they're really light and the soles are very flexible.  They do allow a decent amount of lateral foot movement, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel making full speed swings, but I didn't have any problems at all. I'm really looking forward to getting out on the course... I think these should be really comfortable for walking 5-6 miles to play 18.  I think these would be perfect for something like a trip to Bandon, where you're walking 36 in a day.  I'm anxious to see how the soles hold up over a season of golf, especially since I walk 80% of the rounds I play.

For anyone who wears old school Vans casual shoes, I'd say these fit pretty true to size.  The footbed has a little more cushion and contour than the classic flat bottomed Vans shoes, but they still are a fairly unstructured shoe.  So don't expect real high arch support or a very rigid frame.  For people who like the feel of "minimalist" / low drop running shoes, I'd definitely recommend giving these a try.   For anyone who prefers a more structured fit, with high arches, snug heel, etc. I'd say look elsewhere.

Been golfing in these since March.

Love them, a little cold at times but that's to be expected.

Not really waterproof more resistant I'd say, but they dry super fast.  Would probably be dry during your round.

Had no problems with grip, anywhere, tight fairways with no Bermuda growing right now, bunkers, driving range mats, thick rough which I manage for some reason to find often.

I have the grey in size 13 and I'd say they are true to size.

these shoes are great for golf. just bought a pair. they are super light and incredibly comfortable. they vent pretty well too. very good for summer in AZ! the tread on the bottom has just as much "spike" as my spineless eccos.

How are they in terms of sizing. Can anyone compare to standard vans or chucks or adidas 360s or anything else? Lol

imo they fit pretty true to size from the OG Vans. I've worn size 12 in Vans since high school (39 now) and it's no different with these. If anything maybe slightly narrower but they're also more form fitting due to being more of an athletic type shoe.
