Anyone on the fence about these had better decide quick!

Heard from a reliable source that these are now discontinued by TM so stock may become scarce soon!
This is INTERESTING information

first question is Why, given the response and uptake ??

Second is WHAT would they be replacing it with ??

doesn't make sense to me, but would love to know those answers if true
thank you

Maybe because outside of places like Golfwrx there's not really a market for them, let's face it, most golfers would prefer a hybrid

All I know is that certain places have been told they can sell their demo clubs as they are now discontinued, maybe different in the US though

Also a good contact at a TM performance fitting centre told m they were very much a limited release for now

To me it says there is a new iron to replace the P790 out towards the end of the year and they don't want loads of inventory sitting unsold on what is in all honesty a very "niche" club
Taylormade M1 2017 9.5 HZRDUS 6.0

I got a P790 3 iron (bent to 17*) shafted with a PX 6.5 to fill out the top of my irons, and liked it so much that I got a 2 UDI that I bent to 15* and put a PX 6.5 in it as well. It's a great wind cheater and gaps nicely with my 13.5* 3+ wood.

MAKIng the same mistake they made with the original UDI again. Niche or whatever, club sells. No need to discontinue it, not even two months after itís release. Thatís just terrible decisions and unnecessary. Does Titleist or Cally just discontinue their 2-iron models two months post release? I hope itís just a rumour because it makes no sense otherwise

My guess is they are preparing for the release of 2.0 version and this important information was lost in translation. TM is not in the business of saying "no" to money.

Just wondering, you carry a 3+, a 15*, and a 17*? Did you drop your driver or only carry 1 wedge? Trying to figure out how you fit all of this in the bag without carrying 17 clubs.

This would totally make sense hearing that the next version of the P790 is in the works.

Yep... three wedges including PW and still carrying a driver. I have kind of a weird gap in my bag between the 17* 3 iron and my 22.5* 4 iron, but it't not a yardage I find myself encountering that often.

To expand on this a little bit... The 15* basically fills the spot where I would carry a hybrid or a 5 wood. I have a problem with launching the ball too high, as indicated by the driver and 3 wood lofts that I play, so a hybrid or higher lofted wood isn't really an option with how windy it gets in Oklahoma City. The strong lofted 2 and 3 irons give me some additional options off the tee that I didn't have previously.

Hopefully they still have some. I just had my pro from my club send mine back to TM because the face caved in on mine. It seriously looked curved like a hockey stick and the rubber piece on the bottom was all mashed up. Bummer because I really like the club. Hope they can get me a replacement!

I shafted mine up with a Tensei 90tx the other day and took it to the range last night.  Definitely an improvement from the HZRDUS stock shaft.  The only problem I have is that the head is so damn light.  I had to add a 4 gram tip weight and lead tape to get it to a D0 at 40".  I really want to play it at 39.25 but I will have to add a mountain of lead tape to it to get it back to D0.  I was thinking about trying a Winn Lite grip to help out a little.

The strong lofted 2 and 3 irons give me some additional options off the tee that I didn't have previously.

Makes perfect sense. I can’t see signatures on the mobile app and was just wondering because I have a gap at the top of my bag and am always interested in how others deal with the same issue. I tried the 52/58 wedges for most of this year but just went back to 51/56/60. I lean on my 60 a lot for creative shots around the green and with the 58 I went with a grind more reliable for full shots (Mgrind) but less versatile than what I am used to which is the Staff 60* tour grind.

I now alternate the top of my bag, I carry either a 3w or udi 2i and then 3-pw. The gap from 3w to my 20* 3i is like 30 yds, but rarely do I need more than my 3i for an approach shot so really it just depends on if I want the 3w or 2i as my tee club on tight fairways. I do prefer the udi off the deck, not as long but more accurate than 3w if I hit a poor drive and need to hit a long approach shot.

For anyone who has tried these with the stock shaft, what would you recommend between the 6.0 and the 6.5 shaft?  My driver ss is around 107 and I play a tensei pro white 60 tx in it. In ny irons I currently play kbs tour S.

Probably 6.0 but you are borderline. You can handle either but the x will be lower flight.

It's very interesting news for sure. My cousin just got his set of P790's in and went to order this to match and the estimated ship date was November 2019! We figured by then they'd have 2 newer UDI's available. Glad I got mine with the DG X100 to match my set!

Curious if anyone plays both the udi 17 degree and the stock loft 3 iron at 19 degrees?  Is there much of a difference in distance between the two?

Scenario: Had the original UDI with a C-Taper Lite Stiff Flex shaft, to keep it short I loved it...in typical WRX'er fashion I got rid of it and picked up the P790 UDI with a stiff Hzrdus shaft and I can't hit it worth of sh!t. It is a complete nightmare!!! I play the P790's with Tour Issued S400's in my long irons (4,5&6) and have no issues with them.

Question: What do you think the reasoning behind this is? Should I put an C-Taper Lite or Tour Issued S400 in the P790 UDI?

Any input would be helpful, thanks!

C-taper lite 110g vs hzrdus 85g. Huge differences in weight, balance point, profile etc. Of course you should put in the shaft you had success with into a nearly identical head lol

Sounds like new UDI’s will be released this fall, so I doubt we will see anymore P790s being produced.

The HZRDUS hybrid shaft is a weird one.  I can't hit it for crap either.  Also the club is really light with that shaft in it.  Swing weight in mine was like a C6.  I added weight to the head, but still couldn't hid it well.  I would go with the S400 in it like your other irons and I bet you will hit it well.

What does that mean? Will an updated P790 line be released this Fall or next Spring?

Edit ó Iím talking about the irons. Not just the UDI. Thanks!

Not sure about the irons yet but I have been told to expect another UDI in the fall.
