Hit mine again at the range at Stanford (which is much better than my usual spot) and was hitting low bullets that were carrying about 225 and running out to 250+. This thing is super fun. Was thinking it was too one dimensional but like others have said, if you can put a nice fade on it it can have the ability to fly high(er) and soft(er).

I have so much more directional confidence with it vs a hybrid, although with the hybrid I had much more confidence that it was going to be forgiving off of the deck. Shouldn't be too much of an issue as I don't foresee too many on course shots from the deck for the UDI.

Previously, I had an 18* hybrid and 21* driving iron. I think I messed up the order and should have been playing a lower lofted driving iron and 19/22 degree hybrid....time to fix that.

Happy to hear it!

I think your 2-iron + higher lofted hybrid idea is catching on. Makes sense.

I hit rockets with this thing too. I dont really care for the shaft. I want more feel but im coming from kbs tour and nippon 130. The px black feels harsh and boardy for me. It is probably my swing and I can still crush this thing,  it just makes me want to go after it when i just need to hit it solid. Ill get some launch numbers on it soon.

Hmmmmm
The P790 UDI or the T-MB?
Looking forward to some testing

Keep the reviews coming boys

I have hit both. The 716 T-MB launches similar and spins more than P790. The 718 launches higher and spins about the same/slightly higher than P790. The 790 is more forgiving, longer through higher ball speed, and feels significantly better to me.

Note the T-MB had X100 and my P790 has the px 85 6.5.

Of the 4 I have hit I would rank them like this:

P790 - Longest

King - Most forgiving

716 T-MB - Most workable. Plays like a traditional 2i just longer and more forgiving, still the least forgiving of this group.

718 T-MB - Not the best is any area, solid all around club but not special in any category. Best looking imo, but that’s subjective.

I can’t wait to get a decent shaft in the P790. Going for a shaft fitting in the next couple of weeks and will provide additional thoughts after.

Depends on what you're asking? The hzrdus black are not tipped, PX recommends 0 tipping for 2 irons on their website. I ordered mine tipped 1/2" b/c i feel like the non HC versions of hzrdus play soft.

So I finally got this guy into a GC2 simulator, and holy! This is an amazing club.

Was averaging around 250y carry with a 275y rollout and about 3000 spin. Best shot was 263y carry and 291y roll out, 1y left, 2900 spin. All of this was off the deck.

This thing is staying in the bag and being hit on almost every tee, even miss hits managed to stay within 20y of centre and about 230-250y roll outs.

Standard loft, PX HZRDUS Black 85g 6.5, 0.5 long.

just curious, what's your driver swing speed as a reference?

I average around 115-117mph. However I have to catch myself and dial it back to around 110-112mph.

Finally got a round in with mine yesterday. Swing is pretty weak right now, but hit it a few times. Some good, some bad.

Not 100% sure on the Hzrdus 85, will have to see as courses begin to open up.

Will reserve final decision for now.

Has anybody tried the Hzrdus 105x instead of the 85?  The latter seems like it would be way too lite.

I have the 105 Haz Black.  It’s in my 790.  You do have to move it, its like an old 2 or 1 iron, if you don’t make a good strong and fast move, you probably will pay the price.  For me, I need the weight to keep the flight down.  And, performance is outstanding

Nothing mind blowing I know, but, just my subjective observation.  I have not tried the 85

Hit one last night. Very tinny and not a huge amount of forgiveness compared to latest Callaway and Mizuno rivals. Very flat flight. Steel shaft so a graphite might help with feel but not sure an 85g Hazardus will raise the flight much. One for the fast swinging good striker who wants to keep it down. I shall continue with my 17 degree G400.

Finally hit mine today

I swing the driver At 120mph

If anyone says this thing launches high then I have no idea what you are doing lol.

This thing just launches low bullets off the deck. Off a low tee I could get low- low mid rockets.

Swing speed is not the primary factor in launch angle and peak height. All else being equal a higher ss player will hit it higher, but rarely is all else equal.

I would guess it is a number of factors like how you load the shaft, aoa, & dynamic loft. Jason Day plays strong lofted irons and still gets more height than guys playing weaker lofts for example.

Anyone find their 790 UDI to feel firm? I have a 20* Srixon 565 thats got the same shaft as the UDI and the Srixon just feels way softer. Im getting great performance from the 790 but the feel is more firm than Im used to

Steel shaft so a graphite might help with feel but not sure an 85g Hazardus will raise the flight much. One for the fast swinging good striker who wants to keep it down. I shall continue with my 17 degree G400.

So I ordered both the stock hazardous 85g, as well as had one built to my iron specs with a c-taper 120 stiff, and the launch difference is pretty huge.  The hazardous launches a lot higher and feels much better.  I did add some lead tape to get the swingweight up, the stock came in at D2 and that's lighter than I like, now I'm at D6 which matches the rest of my irons.

Has anyone tried an Ozik Altus in one of these? I have one on order with the 6.5 PX, but also have a spare Altus Shaft here as well. Obviously one way to find out, but just anxious to hear if anyone else has any experience with the combo.

Im not a lefty but these kind of posts are disingenuous. It is not the same thing. Whether it plays similarly from a pure functionality perspective may be true, but I agree..Taylormade swung and missed big by not offering such a highly anticipated club to leftys. The hype built by the tour exclusivity and then the long tease as to when they would be released resulted in this club being one of the most talked about and anticipated clubs in a while, they could have easily sold enough left handed models to pay for the tooling and labor to make a smaller batch. There is a business cost to disappointing your customer base..

Hit one today with the project x 6.0 shaft on a gc2.  Here are my numbers, average for 10 swings.  They didn't have a 6.5 in stock...based on what you see, should I hold out for that shaft?

club head speed 105.1
ball speed 143.0
launch 15.9
total spin 3791
peak height 41
decent angle 46
carry 224
total 240

What are your thoughts?  Does it look like a 6.5 would be a better fit?

TM is a for profit company along with everyone else.  Producing these clubs for lefties would not result in a profit.  Its a lose lose.  Pissed off lefties > losing money in my opinion.  Who knows they could have something in the pipe for lefties and the P790 UDI was a late edition to build off the success of P790 irons.

Hit one last night. Very tinny and not a huge amount of forgiveness compared to latest Callaway and Mizuno rivals. Very flat flight. For those adding lead tape, how are you placing it? Mine with the HZRDUS 85g is pretty light, want to add some but not sure the easiest configuration of tape.

TM was not a 'for profit' company, which is why Adidas sold it
Now private equity is trying to "pretty it up" for an exit as soon as possible....speaking of 'for profit'
same idea, different winner - they don't care about "righties" either
