So the first pictures we saw were the p790 UDIs. Then came the full set release with not much news about the UDIs. The long irons of the full set p790 do not say UDI.

Are the long irons in the p790 set the same heads at the UDIs? Or are we expecting something different? They look identical minus the UDI writing. If they are the same, i'll take a look at the full set and just order the long irons.

No P-790 UDI #2 (17*) has been announced for Retail by TM, but it may happen.  For now #2 P790 UDI is a Tour only club.  If a UDI 790 is announced it will likely have a different stock shaft than the 790 iron set.

The P790 set that TM has announed is 3-AW as shown below.

Sure looked like they juts had "UDI" engraved on the toe to me.  Maybe the same as the 790's and the tour gets a 17* option 2 iron.

The big question, if indeed there really is a Retail P-790 UDI announcement planned, is whether the P-790 UDI will be a single club, i.e. a #2 (17*) UDI), or will there be more lofts to choose from as before?...

Keep in mind the original TM Tour Prefererd UDI's were offered as a #1, (16*), #2, (18*) and #3, (20*) while the RSI TP UDI's added a #4, (23*), and #5, (26*) to the Taylormade UDI Mix.. :fan_1:

So, if a Retail P-790 UDI is coming, will it be just (1) loft/club, or it could be as many as (5) lofts/clubs.... :swoon:
Then again,A RETAIL P-790 UDI COULD BE JUST A RUMOR with the #! and #2 Irons shown below being 'Tour issue only' clubs with no plan by TM to ever bring them to Retail.. :not_i:

I was told (for as much as that is worth) the UDIs are the same irons at the regular p790 but with UDI on them and. will be offered in at least a 2 iron.

I am holding out for a 3 iron with a graphite shaft but the graphite options TM offer for the regular p790s are awful. I am hoping the UDIs will have more options.

When I worked on tour TM made the Rescue TP with "FW" stamped on the sole.  Do you any of you guys remember that?  That was only done so they would be counted as fairway woods for the Darrell Survey. Later that head come out as a TP model.  Maybe these 790's have UDI on them so they can be counted as something other than normal irons?

I've heard from multiple guys on this board (TM insider type lol) that the UDI model will have reduced offset. I welcome that with open arms.

When we were on the Kingdom trip, we were told that they would be coming out in November at the earliest, but they are coming.

I was told by my local rep in September that the P790 2 Iron UDI would be available in March in a limited quantity. Slightly less offset and thinner top line than the P790 3-PW.

I ended up ordering a P790 3 iron and bent it 1 degree strong to replace my old driving iron. I'll get a chance to hit it for the first time this weekend due to some great weather in Minnesota. Golf in December for the first time.

Retail 3 is 19*, I'm guessing this is around 18 or so and the 1 shown earlier in the thread 16? That's what the tour preferred UDIs are.

I was told 17 degrees of loft on the P790 2 Iron.

Since theyre going to be nearly impossible to get your hands on and crazy expensive once they come out why not just get the 3i built to the specs that the 2i would be. Have it bent 2* strong and get the shaft .5" longer and you have a 2i. Sure itll say 3 on the bottom but for $162 from golfio.com compared to whatever astronomical price theyre going to cost ill play a 2 that says 3.

That makes sense unless you are someone like me that is hoping for a less offset 16* 1-UDI..

Same loft, offset, length and lie?  Could you post some comparison pics, since you have both?
