I have a 2FIVE that I special ordered with a 3.5 strap. It's been a great carry bag for me and I have no desire to back to anything heavier. The new 2.5+ looks like a great upgrade but I shouldn't need a new bag until sometime next year. It sounds like the straps on the + have improved so there may not be a need to upgrade to the 3.5 setup.

What didn't you like about the regular 2five straps?

What didn't you like about the regular 2five straps?

I mainly just preferred the comfort of the 3.5 straps. The older 2five straps were also known to get tangled up easily and often. I didn't want to have to deal w/the hassle of that while on the course. The 3.5 straps aren't that much heavier either.

My advice is not to give up comfort, convenience or functionality in order to save a pound and a half of total weight. A bag that weighs "2-3/4 pounds" instead of "4-1/4 pounds" sounds like a huge difference. But once you fill it with clubs and balls and what have you it turns into "16 pounds" versus "17-1/2 pounds" which is barely noticeable. A lot of the very, very lightest bags make compromises in various areas to shave down those last few ounces.
I used to think the same thing until I tried a SM 2 Five.  Makes a huge difference.  Wanting to try the 2.5+ now, addition of the water bottle sleeve was 1 thing I wanted.

So I pulled the trigger, purchased that used 2five from my one ebay link on page 1, for $114. Bag looks to be in great shape... it should be here by next week, I will let you know how I like it.

Sun Mountain 2.5.  I use if for walking 9 holes with half set- Driver, putter and even or odd numbered clubs.  The bag is solid but seems overloaded with a full set.  I have used it with a full set walking 18 and on the back of a cart, but not ideal.  If you dont mind yellow this is a good closeout deal for a new bag.

I did for about 2 weeks.  Couldn't stand the pockets so I went with a 3.5LS until I saw the 2.5+ in late July.

Sun Mountain Swift X. I got a couple from RBG for $40 and $30. Second I was a bit inebriated. Traded it for a putter.

The Swift X and the very, very similar bag they used to make for Titleist as the Ultralight was the best compact carry bag ever made, hands down. I was so sad when I wore mine out.

Swift X is now the SM Front 9 bag.

I own a Front 9, unfortunately.  Truly an awful, awful golf bag. It fills the same spot in the SM lineup as the Swift-X did but is built so cheaply and flimsily I can't believe it is made by Sun Mountain.
Everything has its drawbacks, as the man said when his mother-in-law died, and they came down upon him for the funeral expenses.

I like single strap and 8 or 9 clubs. I have a Callaway Hyperlite 2.5 had to look for a while to find one with single strap. No stand, my club is usually coming out of my bag as I walk up to the ball. Carry driver, 4W,7W, 5i, 7i, 9i, P, 58 and putter, 4 balls, a few tees, water bottle and add a windshirt or raincoat sometimes
I find single strap much easier, can carry over shoulder facing forward and put it across my back and put both hands on it. Rainy days I use my cart and big bag then I can walk under my umbrella

Try it out and let us know how it goes. I'll be getting my 2Five next week and I should be walking my small 9 hole course with it.

Actually walked it today with my SM cart bag and push cart. Couple times I felt like an NFL lineman training because I was putting all my energy to pushing the unit uphill!! Good work out though, shot bogey which is my current HC.

I use the same as of this year (switching from a Jones utility) and recently expanded to 13 clubs in this bag (I have a love hate relationship with my 3 wood and hybrid) and it works fine.  14 clubs would fly here too.  I am also a bit of a dew sweeper and find the bag doesn't get too bad when lying on the ground.  I picked it up on dealaday golf or something like in June - think it was last made in 16 (or maybe 15)

I will say as someone who carries 75% of my rounds and is on 50 rounds so far this year, dropping 2.5 lbs from my beloved Jones Utility bag does make a difference.  Also the small nature of the bag encourages taking less with you...

My 12 year old son has the 2.5, very similar weight to my bag but the straps are horrible IMHO.  Uncomfortable and constantly tangled.  He's not that focused on keeping the straps in order (which bothers his anal dad), but still stinks.  That being said, I may grab one of the 2.5+ bags at some point for next season - if I don't like it I'll give it to the wife or son (at least that is the excuse when my wife asks why I bought another golf bag...)

Seems like the straps aren't great then. We'll see how I get on with it. If it's really intolerable I may try the 2.5+.

Are any of you putting the 2Five or other light weight stand bags into carts (drive) ? I used to put my old stand bag in a cart fine, but I do like my big ol SM cart bag as it has tons more pockets and room for jackets, drinks, etc.

My SM 3 Five works fine, but the top rim wore out very quickly.  So, I'll be looking at other brands. I'm not concerned about one or 1.5 extra pounds. I require full length dividers and would like a slightly larger opening.

I have one of the waterproof OUUL bags.  For a waterproof bag (think Titleist Stadry), it is amazingly light weight. I used to carry a Ping L8 and then switch to my Staydry when using a push cart / if raining, but now I just use the OUUL all days.

I picked up a Titleist 4up Staydry a year ago for a trip to the U.K., and have liked it so much it's my regular bag now, walking or riding. It's quite light, under 3 pounds, has adequate pocket space, and it actually comes with both single and double straps. In Scotland, one of my caddies liked it so much he had me drop by the shop with him right after the round to order one for himself.

Got the 2Five today, and will hopefully be testing it out this Friday and Sunday. Plan to walk 9 then try it out as a riding bag, too.

Edit: First impressions are WOW this is light, but my 2 gripes so far: Straps get tangled easily and holds less stuff than I thought. The one pocket barely fits more than a couple golf balls and tees. I think this will do for now but I'm sure I'll want to upgrade in the future.

Are you putting softballs in it? ;)

9 balls, bunch of tees, couple cliff bars, driver head wrench, scorecard holder, pocket towel (when not in pocket)... no problem.

As far as I saw there are 3 main pockets: the 1 long one that runs length of bag, a very small one next to that, which has some kind of soft lining inside, and then a 3rd medium sizes one on the opposite side down low. There's also a non zipper pocket on the bottom too, but it's also pretty small.

As of now I've got balls in the medium low pocket, tees and pitch repair tool in the small one, and the lengthwise is empty as I don't need a jacket yet. I would probably stick some drinks or food in there if I needed.

I also have a full bag loaded up today and plan to walk the 9 hole. Bag feels very light still, so I'd imagine with just 8 clubs in there, it would feel like almost nothing.

Currently ride most of my rounds, but there are a few courses where I walk because the green fee is very expensive, so I try to save a little scratch. One of these courses is very hilly and I'm currently using my big cart bag with my push cart which probably weighs close to 20 pounds total I'd guess. Not super fun to push up the huge hills.

Currently, I am in the market for an "ultra light weight" double strap bag to see if this makes walking a bit easier for me. Looking for a bag maybe 3  pounds or lighter.. So far my research has lead me to the Sun Mountain 2Five, the 3.5LS and the Callaway Hyperlite Zero.

There's a few other options in that 4lb and up range, but I've had a larger stand bag before and it did get a little bit cumbersome in the back 9. I'd really prefer the lightest most durable option available. I'm pretty partial to Sun Mount, but I am open to others.

I got a sun Mountain H2NO ultralight for my hilly course. Still made the game less enjoyable (I'm normally cart bag and powakaddy) - it wasn't the walking it was the carrying. Still felt heavy and cumbersome. I've now got a Callaway pencil bag with a little short set of legs and carry a cut down set. It's another debate I know but for info it's 3w 3h 5,7,,9,w,SW,Putter.

With this I can walk and carry 18 easily
Ping G400 SFT Driver
Ping G400 3 Wood
Ping G400 SFT 5 Wood
Ping G400 4 & 5 Hybrids
Ping G400 Irons, Green Dot, 6 - SW
Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth 58* WS
Spider Tour Platinum Putter

So I walked the 9 holes yesterday with the 2Five and a full set of clubs. Honestly the only fault I can find is the shoulder pads are a little lacking and maaaaybe for 18 holes I could see it getting a little irritating. But just for a quick 9 around that track, it's really easy. I could potentially see this bag replacing my cart bag + caddytek combo for walking rounds, but I definitely won't be using this to ride. The big ol cart bag will still be used for that.

3Putt - Did you have the original 2Five?

I did for about 2 weeks.  Couldn't stand the pockets so I went with a 3.5LS until I saw the 2.5+ in late July.

3Putt - just trying to decide between the 2.5+ and the 3.5LS.  Does the 2.5+ have the exact same top as the 3.5LS, both are listed on the SM website as being 9"-4 ways.  I love the look of the 2.5+, but its probably pretty close to 3 lb.  If that's the case, why wouldn't you go with the 3.5LS if its only an extra half pound, has better padding on the straps, probably better material all around and more storage.  Or is there something about the carrying experience that is so much better with the 2.5+?

Also, on the question of durability - I have a 3.5 from around 2013 which is pretty well bullet proof.  All the new SM lightweight bags seem to have a lot more thin plastic, lighter legs and thinner material, which makes me wonder how they are going to stand up over time.

I can keep this thread up to date... I've been using the 2Five now every week since I got it, no issues. Like others say, the strap system is a little wonky and I find myself having to adjust or fix it maybe once a round.... but I got a good deal on it, so I don't really care. 9 holes a week, it's a really great walking bag.
