Sorry for crowing a bit, but indulge me a bit because I think I'm pretty darn young to shoot my age. I didn't even think about it until this morning.

Yesterday was the first time I shot my age or better. I stood on the 18th tee at 9 under under and proceeded to cough up my only bogey of the day. I'm a gutless punk.

I'm 63 and shot 62.

Full disclosure: The course is only 6,313 yards, par 70, but hey, I'm still takin' it...

I didn't think I'd have a chance to shoot my age for a few more years, but I had zero back pain for the first time in years. I've been working on something Monte told me a couple of months ago. I was shooting darts all day.

I was hitting the ball so badly a few months ago, I figured I'd have to live to be 80 to shoot my age.

Thanks Monte!

Awesome.  I thought this was going to be a 9 hole brag or some executive course, but it looks legit to me.  What's the course rating and what's your cap?

67.8 course rating. I know it's weak, but I'm old! Don't keep a handicap.

It's in Scottsdale so it was hot as blazes, the greens were bad, the bunkers are dirt, I didn't roll the ball, the sun was in my eyes, I had to pee all the time...

That is fantastic.  No apologies necessary for the course.  Shooting 62 at a putt-putt breaking your age would be great.  I one day aspire to achieve what you have done.  My dad has shot his age or better a few times.  Hopefully i can still score when I get to your age and beyond.  Congratulations!

Here is the course. I play the back tees.

http://www.scottsdal...com/golf-course

Birdied 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 14, 16, 17
Bogey on the last SOB.

My low round is a course record 62 on a par 72 in Japan decades ago, but this 62 feels better. :)

Hey 5 par 4's over 400yds, couple stiff ones to boot. Nothing to sneeze at. And with two extra par 3's 6300+ is way more than legit. And as another said you still got to make the shots. Congrats.

That's what I was thinking when I saw the scorecard.
Turn a couple of those par 3s into normal length par 4s and you're talking 6700+ easily.

In my best Elvis voice, "Thank you, thank you very much..."

Just to be clear, I don't go low like that very often. I hover a few over to a few under par now because I don't hit balls, I don't play all that much, I fiddle around changing clubs in and out of my bag, I can't putt worth a lick most of the time, get distracted during most rounds and PBFU like a champ.

The great thing about golf is that you just never know what's going to happen when you put that first tee in the ground.

I didn't make a single putt on the practice green before the round.

Nicely done. A couple of years ago I came within 4 strokes of my age but it never entered my mind until the ride home with my buddy. We played in different foursomes in league that day and since we are always trying to beat each other I was anxious to show him my 67 so he'd have to buy on the way home. He says nice round and shows me a career best 64 he shot, which was also his age. I bought.

This is an all time goal for me... step one is to live long enough to even have a chance, which for me would probably be low 70's. I have a ways to go that's for sure. Well done and congrats.
