Picked up an F7+ this morning.  The guys looked it up on his handheld and said they are taking a 20% loss on them.  Crazy

Golf galaxy employee I talked to today indicated they were dropping cobra too.

This to me is very bizarre, as a big box employee, but in Canada.  Admittedly Cobra hasn't had a stellar year, their irons were a tough sell this year when you had continued success of the G, the Steelhead being a surprise performer given it isn't much different from last year's XR, and the M2 somehow being just as/if not more popular than last year's version.  Compound that with F6 product being a good 50-60% cheaper, with basically the same technology, it was a tough run for the F7.  The driver and fairway has been selling okay for us, but the iron set I think has been a bit of a dud.  I know the SL ones are sold out almost everywhere...but is that due to actual popular demand or from Cobra purposely not making enough because they didn't have high hopes for it in the first place given that it is such a "unique" concept to most?  Likely a combination of both.

At any rate, I don't understand why GG and DSG would drop one of the big 6.  For what?  In favour of Bridgestone or Yonex or perhaps some other semi-JDM brand?  Those are going to be equally tough sells considering most casual golfers have never heard those names before.  At the very least people recognize the "King Cobra" name and are willing to give it a shot.  Our Srixon drivers sat idle on the shelf last year despite our insistence that they were amazing.  People are very brand conscious, even if they don't claim to be.

Was in my local Dick's and they had 3 Cobra drivers total, all F7's all stiff flex, not much choice. All were priced $239 or more

Saw on eBay F7's for $207,  Maybe I should pull the trigger?

Call them and ask them to scan it and tell you what price comes up on the computer. F7s should be 164 or something. This happened to me too, they price wasn't marked down but it rang up lower when they actually scanned it, which they did over the phone for me).

I agree they seemed to indicate they are going more towards ping taylormade cally and titleist mostly. I am big cobra fan. Golf galaxy by my had ltd black drivers and woods at 40% off the 199 and 299 prices. I bought a king wedge brand new for $30 and bought the demo king utlilty which looked unhit for $80 with a coupon. I hope they are wrong and cobra will remain in stores.

Couldn't stand it. Grabbed the last blue f7+ out of Dicks on Columbia pike in NoVa. Great looking head. A little shallow next to the flyz+ though. I won't miss digging grass out of that weight track if the f7 wins out though.

Just saw at my local DSG they now have a new Titleist display. Cobra is just about gone, no signage, Cleveland stuff is discounted heavily. Not sure if it's because of new releases or if dropping those as well. Couldn't find any Mizuno. Can't believe they are trying to market themselves as a full line TM, Callaway, and Titleist dealer. DSG and GG to file bankruptcy by this time next year.

They are struggling as a whole. I never said it was because of GOLF.

When Sports Authority, Gander Mountain and Golfsmith go belly up and DSG still can't turn a profit, there is a problem. It will surface the minute consumer spending takes any bit of a turn in the other direction.

How much was cleveland discounted?  I'd take a new wedge for the right price

Sports Authority failed cuz the place sucked.  Their actual equipment selection sucked.  I am just referring to hockey and golf as those are the two sports I play(ed).  However, IIRC, they also never really had good deals on stuff.  Dicks has mad sales/discounts constantly.  Sports Authority I felt like u might be lucky to get 10-20% off.

Example, last night my brother and I just got 2 under armour heat gear long sleeve shirts for $17 each with shipping.  Anything under armour, especially something that isnt a t-shirt, for $17 is a freakin steal.

I've swapped my XLR8 shaft for the black tie shaft from the F6+ and like it much better. I also moved the weight forward and changed the lie to draw and the thing just bombs. Seems to hang in the air for ages.

The Cleveland were RTX3s for I think $59.

Hey, I did the exact same thing - swapped the Matrix shaft from my F6+ and changed to 9.5* draw.  I guess I have a thing for a slightly closed face at address because the drives I'm hitting now with the F7+ give me a ballflight very similar to my ~10 year old X/Speed, which was my favorite driver of all time until I cracked the face.

I'm set at 10.5D on the Matrix which puts it at 9.5 on the F7+ head as the standard loft is different between the two.

Great, I did that, I like the 9.5D however Im wondering if its like im actually hitting a 8.5...chill out, simple question

Heh, YOU chill out, it was a simple answer with no malice intended.  Wow, people are so oversensitive these days.

In the end though, does it really matter whether you're hitting at 8.5 versus 9.5D?

Any chance you can post that receipt so I can use it to get a price match here?

I have it at 9.5D on the F7, does that mean its 8.5??

Who cares, it's just a number.  Take practice drives with every setting and pick the best one.  Done!

Chances are on top of this the "true" loft of the club still isn't even close to what is posted on the head.  So as others have said, play what adapter setting works best and go for it.  Does it make the driver completely unusable if you are bombing it and the loft sleeve says 9.5* but the driver actually has a "true" loft value of 12*?  No not at all.  It just means that when you upgrade to your next driver, you'll likely play a 10.5 or 11* instead of the 9.5* you are now.  Simple.
