I don't really think this scenario is likely but didn't nikes drivers price drop significantly at dicks a few weeks before they announced they were getting out of the hard goods business?

Agreed, this doesn't sound like a mistake to me.

All this talk of cobra getting out of the biz seems lame. They just released a new hybrid and the MAX line. Why the hell would they do that if they were going to close shop.

I'm not saying they're getting out of business just pointing out the similarities and Nike had just submitted clubs to the PGA to make the conforming list for the next year, a month before they made their announcement! And I don't think single length has been much of a big hit for them!

Really? They just came out with 2 brand new SL sets and added a junior set previously this summer. Just because everyone isn't jumping on the bandwagon and playing them everywhere like Apex CF16s, doesn't mean they are struggling.

I know Dicks has been wanting to become more a premier golf retailer after the Golf Smith buy. Many stores I have talked to keep saying they don't know why they aren't selling Titleist, full Mizuno line, etc. Maybe they plan to stop carrying Cobra and plan to focus on a select set of manufacturers. Maybe Titleist held out and told them unless you commit to us like you did Taylormade, not gonna happen. Dicks might gain Titleist, but it might be to the detriment of Cobra. I could see Dicks trying to expand and only carry Titleist, TM, Callaway, and Ping. Titleist is desperate, and going into Dicks might be the last resort.

I happen to be near a Dicks today when I was out so I stopped in just to see. They had 2 f7+ on the rack with $399.99 sticker on them. I took it to the counter and asked them to price check it for me. $192. Bought it right then. I'm not sure what's going on and the guy obviously didn't know golf clubs because he didn't know it came with a head cover. They are selling brand new at the local golf store for $299.

haha the guy who i dealt with, when i called him and asked if they had the F7 PLUS, he asked "WHAT?" about 3 times and then he goes 'i dont know what that is', this came about 2 secs after he looked for the freakin F7 for me.

He also taped up a brand new F6 for me to hit when there was one sitting in the demo bag all along

For all interested, and I don't know if it was a special deal or not, I get a text from a buddy that works at Dicks this past weekend with in store sales signs, $162.97 for the F7 and $194.97 for the F7+.

Very odd, I emailed Cobra asking if i could get a shaft upgrade and that the 'retailer didnt offer it but said to contact cobra'.  I know its a long shot and they will tell me to get lost but what do i have to lose.  WIth that said, I dont want to tell them I got it from Dicks, they might reply 'o ya those a******* marking our brand new clubs down to Top Flite prices, ya we arent upgrading you' :)

Yeah, they usually don't do shaft upgrades post purchase, but it's worth a shot I guess. Generally in the past when the prices came down the shaft upgrade options went away or didn't follow in terms of price drop.

Yup cant hurt to ask, maybe ill get someone nice who says 'yes'

This isnt gonna matter but I played it off as 'this is my first Cobra (which it is) and so far I love it, i could see myself buying more of these in the future'...hoping they think, this could be a lifetime customer we better appease him.  Doubt it but what the hell

As others have said, this seems like it is likely a Dick's SG only thing.  In Canada, the only "golf store", Golf Town, still has both drivers at full rack rate.  Then again, Cobra US and Cobra Canada seem to operate on different strategies.  You guys had the free fairway/hybrid deal going on for at least a month.  We got it for 4 days, and even then I don't think it was offered at pro shops, only at big box stores.

Confirmed!

1st called Dicks Sporting goods, guy quoted me 194$ for the f7+.

Then called golf galaxy, they quoted me 202$. Bought it from them and they price matched down to the 194.

Not sure how reliable it is, but when I stopped at my local dicks the sales associate said he heard rumors that they were getting rid of cobra at dicks and only golf galaxy would carry the brand.

Golf Galaxy has them for the prices stated above.  The folks there just said Cobra wanted the old stock cleared out for new stuff coming.

They had LTD Black and LTD Pro drivers on clearance for $180 also. If I didn't hit the F7+ so well on the range today Imwould be tempted to try one of those. But gonna stop with the F7+ and move on. Dispersion was a good bit better than my F6+ and was a little longer. The sound/feel is really what sealed the deal.

Agreed. Thought the F7+ felt/sounded better than the LTD Pro. Thought I needed the fade settings of the pro adapter, but the first range test for me the F7+ was a fade machine.

You can actually buy shafts directly from cobra. Go on their website and click on clubs then components. I just bought a Tensi ck pro white for $240

I think the key here was he was hoping he could get one of the free shafts instead of the Fuji Pro/XLR8, not one he would have to pay for.

My local Dick's had the F7 and F6 for $169 and $129. But the sound was not nice to my ears.....piercing type. Not usually picky on the sound but this was like hitting a golf ball with a tin can.

If your ears do not mind, great deal !!

My son plays the F6, it is very pingy. I hit the the F6+ and it is a different sound but still loud. Like a big crack. Never hit the F7 so can't comment on it, but the F7+ is like heaven for sound compared to the F6 and F6+.

haha you a spot on :).  Cobra told me to get lost and contact the retailer, of course I'm not even gonna bother contacting Dicks, I'm not sure they know what a 'replacement shaft' even is

Boy am I glad I found this thread!  Just got back from my local Dick's.

DSG's inventory and pricing system is totally screwed up, though.  I was looking to buy a F6+ to keep as a backup for my current F6+.

First checked DSG online - $125 but everything (S and X flex) out of stock.  So I decided to check my local DSG about a mile away from home, but they had no F6+'s in stock and were selling the F7+ for $249.  Decided to check another DSG about 8 miles away and found they were selling their remaining stock of F6+'s for $179 and F7+'s for $194.  Buying the F7+ for $15 more was a no-brainer.

Three different DSG sites, three different prices.  Crazy.

I picked up a F7 hybrid tonight at Dicks for $97.  Talked to the guy who was working the golf section and he said he heard from people in the company that they are dropping Cobra.  They took down all of the Cobra displays this week.

Went to dicks today had one left for 194.97 but was a little beat up so took a pic of the rack and price, went to golf galaxy and they price matched it no problem for one brand new in plastic. They had in sale for 249.00. Gotta love golfwrx!

I just got back from Dicks here in Kennesaw Ga. Picked up an F6 3-4 wood for $95 after tax. Marked at $112 but rang out at around $89!!

And just ordered the F6 Driver from their website for $125.

I've been thinking about going with cobra F7 for driver and Threewood anyway. I just snagged the next best thing for 225 bucks for both!
The pricing at that location is all over the place on a lot of golf stuff. I remember seeing shopworn Ping Serene and Karsten fairways for high $200's last year...that's insane!
