Just got back from playing 18 at Sweetens, 18 at Sewanee (a tiny Gil Hanse gem on a mountain with some incredible par 3's, 8 is reminiscent of a hole at Bethpage sprinkled with some Pinehurst.), and Cherokee CC in Knoxville.

Sweetens Cove if you haven't been is blissful, a truly divine golfing experience. Could play that course over and over and over and never get bored.
Sewanee is a hidden gem. We had the course to ourselves so it was great. Their Alps, and Road holes are great. If you're in town to play Sweetens you have to take the 20 minutes trip to Sewanee.
Cherokee was one of the best courses I've played with the amount of land they've available. Routed wonderfully and some radical green complexes!

Has anyone visited Sand Valley? Really wanting to take a trip there in the spring.

Looks like terrible rain tomorrow but it should b OK Friday.  Might not be carts available but we were going to walk anyways.

Totally agree about Moraine.  Criminally underrated.  I think it's the best course in Ohio and you could make an argument that it's the best in the Midwest.

Looks like I'm playing Meadowbrook tomorrow too so good 4 day stretch!

Just booked the annual trip. Staying at Pinehurst Condos and playing Tobacco Road, Dormie, Mid Pines, Pine Needles, and potentially playing pinehurst depending on how we feel!

Have you stayed at those condos before?  I'm assuming you mean the ones around courses 3 and 5.  They've always looked rather small to me, but I guess most people really don't spend much time in the condo anyway.

I have not, nor have I played in this area before. They’re 2 bedrooms with 2 queens per room so they can’t be too tiny. That being said besides the occasional breakfast and maybe dinner we won’t be there often.

Have a great time, you've picked some really good courses.  If you need any suggestions for food and drink, let me know.  I've owned a condo at Talamore for 10 years now, and get to visit pretty regularly.  In fact, in two weeks I'll be headed down myself.

Honest question, have you thought about playing World Woods instead of Innisbrook? If that course didn't have a tournament it would be unknown. That being said the rest of that trip is very nice!

Heading to Kiawah in 3 weeks for thanksgiving. Only golf I have planned for awhile.

World woods is guarantee 5 hour rounds and conditions are always iffy. Innisbrook is my reciprocal and I’ll always pick that over world woods especially during winter time when my reciprocal rate is almost the same as world woods. And imho copperhead is one of the top 3 courses in tampa private/public. World woods is about 7/8. I think lake Jovita is way better than world woods. And Lakewood National is becoming my public favorite outside of the streamsong resort.

Bought a Bay Hill package a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure when I'm going to use it yet. Was thinking about the end of March after the tourney comes through. Has anyone ever done the Arnold Palmer golf school that they have there? If so what did you think of it?

Headed back to Pinehurst at the end of February. Just paid my deposit today. Going to play 2, 4, 8, 9, and possibly Tobacco Road. I’ve played all of those except #4.

It’s absolutely heaven down in Pinehurst.

Agree to disagree. I enjoyed Pine Barrens way more than Copperhead, it is a much better design. I would also put all 3 Streamsong courses miles ahead of it. People like different things though, enjoy.

streamsong isn't part of tampa bay thus the statement. (i'm a resident here for 30+ years)

top 3 courses in tampa private/public are:

copperhead
old memorial
concession

and the rolling oaks is a better course than pine barren.  better par3s and better par5s.  not even close.

I also don't get why people say if copperhead doesn't have a tournament it wouldn't be that great. It's literally like baby augusta during tournament conditions.  it's like the same folks who say east lake is boring!

copperhead is literally the best course on the florida swing; better than bay hill, pga national, and yes tpc sawgrass!

Bought a Bay Hill package a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure when I'm going to use it yet. Was thinking about the end of March after the tourney comes through. Has anyone ever done the Arnold Palmer golf school that they have there? If so what did you think of it?

What package was it? Since we have a lodge there's a few floating around for 'lodge guests'. At any rate, I've never done any golf instruction in my life so can't help with that one.

The course is nice leading up to March as well. New irrigation was just installed in the last 6 months so it's a little rough right now and overseed just started this week, but it should be very nice after that.
