Although it's stamped 'Mullen', it truly looks closer to the TP 'Berwick' putter per the neck and the single sight line - Looks exactly like Hideki's proto with the square off shoulders, etc.

Looks like a replica set-up of the SC proto he used during last year's playoffs.

Cheers,

- Ian

Agreed, pretty much the exact copy of the M1/3T...different face, size, shoulders than the Mullen retail.

Starting to look like Rory would be better off to rest up for next year. Hopefully he isn't delaying his recovery by continuing to play..

This putter has really good lines.  I can see why Rors keeps going back to it.

Also looks the same as the Odyssey Proto that turned into the 3T.

Anyone have any solid incite into the grip change?

I like this putter change. When it comes to this shape putter, he always seems to putt a bit better. Not great, but better than awful

Lines look similar for sure.  Both these 2 putters and the Scotty from last yr have lines similar to his old fastback from way back when.  I would guess he was looking for something he was comfortable with on the greens.

As for the grip, he won the fed ex with that grip and had probably his best week of putting in the last 2-3 yrs using it.  So I would guess he was hoping for similar results this week.

Seems a lot of the top tier guys are making some changes to try and get something going for the playoffs.

It surprising that he feels a grip change will help. Wonder what his reasoning is. Heard on sky that he using round grip now instead of the rib. Interesting to see how it goes and if the tour velvets last through the playoffs.

Only 2.5 gram weights in the putter? The head must be pretty heavy on it's own, because that seems super light weight. Most Scotty's start off with 10g weights, and the 33" ones play with two 20gram weights in them.

Sorry was referring to the grip change on his 13 other clubs not so much the putter.  He's used NDMC forever and just seems like a random switch.

GUYS - good news - I can answer literally all of those questions. I recently actually walked/caddied for Rory for 18 and J Vegas for 9 at the Pro-Am this week. I have a write up in the works - please bare with me while I get most of the details worked out with both Rory and Johnny's camp. I also have Greg looking over the write up before I submit it to the forum so I'm not over stepping any boundaries.

A few pictures for you guys.

To answer the grip question so you guys don't have to wait - first the irons. Rory told me that the reason he went from the MCC to the Tour Velvet was; "I felt like the club was too much in my fingers, which ultimately would make it easier for me to lose the club either inside or outside in the take away". Now with the putter grip - this was something really interesting to me. Winn actually manufactures the Matador grip specifically for Cameron, Rory explained that "i feel like I can get a 'fuller' grip and feel like I have more control of the face through the stroke". Feel free to ask questions.

Great info!  Did Rory talk about his recent putter switch?  Did he comment which model head he prefers and why does he keep going back to his TM mallet?

Yes he did! So without sharing too much about his contractual information - he has time to figure out what works for him. If you remember he played that center shafted fastback and did well with it. Had some woes then went back to the M1 Cameron - obviously did well with that so he wanted to stick with the same style head while moving away from anything other than Taylormade due to contract stipulations. He did say he was in no hurry, but wanted to switch now instead of later. I also asked about the length (33") and the weighting. He expressed that he likes this weight and it helps with "feeling the putter head" as mentioned before.

Did Rors say how he like his new TM equipment vs his old Nike/Titleist?

Did he go into any details about his new Rors prototype irons/wedges vs his old stuff?

Interesting to hear the grip change is to help minimise some things happening with his release/swing.The MCC worked well for so long now it's interesting that he's decided to change.

I'm sure that was a awesome experience. Very jealous. Did he mention he was testing many other companies other than TM and callaway?
Did you ask how Tiger getting on?

Thanks for sharing

Yes he did actually. He told me, very specifically that the irons and wedges that hit the shelves are not s*** the same irons and wedges the tour players are playing. He talked about the process they use and how each club is made the exact same so there is no different between the two.

He did mention Callaway. Callaway was one of the more prominent companies that wanted to sign him, and he did like the things they were doing - however: without saying something that he may not want shared he liked the ball so much more that was one of the biggest reasons he went with TM. Also, with the Callaway RORS Protos vs the Taylormades - he kind of jokingly said - "how much different can a bladed iron be?". I agreed with this statement, but he did say that the Callaway irons he was hitting he did like very much. I personally had questions about PXG's equipment, but it didn't seem like he was very impressed with their products, but that was only my impression.

Agree with this. Outside of his wedges, his driving and approach game has been extremely solid this year, so it seems odd to make this change now. Clearly he knows where he's at and what he's trying to do with his swing, though. I'm just a dude on the internet.

The only question is whether itís ribbed or round considering itís logo down its most likely round

To answer the grip question so you guys don't have to wait - first the irons. Rory told me that the reason he went from the MCC to the Tour Velvet was; "I felt like the club was too much in my fingers, which ultimately would make it easier for me to lose the club either inside or outside in the take away". They were 100% round at the time. He specifically stated that the rounds were to deal with a grip (hand not club grip) issue he was working on that I mentioned earlier in the post.

Which 2 clubs does he take out of bag usually?

3i for his 50/52. Or 54/56 as he often changes his wedges depending on the course set up.
