This thread makes me feel better about the 22doz Tour Rzn platinums I hoarded.

Anyone do anything special for long term storage? 22doz will last me a couple years so thinking to vac pack some

I put each dozen in gallon ziplock bags and place them in a drawer in a room that doesn't see much temperature change (basement).

I've got 18 dozen in the house right now.  In theory I shouldn't need to buy a ball until 2019, but I know I'll be hunting for deals on TP5X at Christmas.

Any other good storage ideas for the hoarding? I fear I've joined the crowd with the RZN Platinum practice deal.

Anyone wanting to offload 4 or 5 dozen?  I need to freshen up my shag bag and Big 5 quit carrying the recycled prov's.  Shoot me a PM.  Urethane cover is the only requirement.

I would think the only elements that could potentially damage the ball are directly sunlight, heat/cold, and air exposure.

Maybe get some of those vacuum bags to compress clothes, and then store them inside in a closet.

The temptation to buy more and more thinking that it will bring satisfaction, it's a stumbling stone for the human psyche. Realistically, how many golf balls do you think you need to last a season? Right now I have about 4 dozen golf balls to my name, that I would consider gaming. I have a shag bucket that has a few dozen in it but they don't see the light of day when it comes to a round of golf. I am considering other golf balls to play next year but won't buy them until I almost deplete the stash I have right now. Having 10 different Putters won't help me putt any better, and so on.

I have one driver, one 3w, one set of irons, two gap wedges, two sand wedges, three lob wedges, four putters and 19 dozen golf balls.

What does that say about my ho'ing priorities?

Everything has its drawbacks, as the man said when his mother-in-law died, and they came down upon him for the funeral expenses.

Mostly true.  I have a problem choosing which ball to play.  Have over 35 dozen probably 12 different varieties.  Also have 3 sets of clubs.  Looking at a couple new putters.

Sometimes a new perspective of new club or ball can help short term at the cost of consistency long term.

I didn't intentionally hoard until Nike pulled out, I get on that well with the RZN's I decided to stock up whilst they were cheap, so have ended up with:

6 Doz RZN Tour Platinum
3 Doz RZN Tour Black
2 Doz RZN Tour Black Volt Yellow
2 Doz RZN Black Volt Yellow
4 Doz Titleist NXT Tour
1 Doz Maxfli XS Distance (not sure where these came from).

I have also managed to hang on to a selection of balls from the early 00's, so also have

3 x Maxfli Revolution 90
3 x Titleist Professional 90
3 x Nike Tour Accuracy TW (still my favourite ball, overall)
3 x PTS 90's
The Blue Thunder: Nike Vapor Fly - 9.5 degree - Speeder Evolution 757X
The Stenson: Nike Vapor Fly 3W - Diamana Blueboard 70S+
The Butter Knife: Nike Blade 1 Iron - DG S400 Shaft
The Blades: Nike VR Pro 4i - PW - DG S400 TI Shaft
The Rusties: Nike Engage 50, 54 Square Sole, 58 Toe Sweep
The Putter: Scotty Cameron California Del Mar - 34"
Balls: Nike RZN Tour Black/Platinum
Bag: Sun Mountain Four Five

Also in Rotation:

Spare Driver: Nike Covert Tour - Kuro Kage 60X
Fairway Woods: Nike Vapor Fly 5W - Diamana Blueboard 70S+
Putters: Yonex Super A.D.X Tour Forged / Scotty Cameron Newport Oil Can / Hogan Radial P51

I'm no where near the top. My stash consists of;
-5 dozen Duo yellow
-3 dozen Duo orange
-1 dozen Staff TX4
-6 Q Star Tour
-6 Duo U
-2 more dozen assorted balls picked up on the course

I have found I prefer the QST to the Duo U and that the TX4, while near 10yrs old, doesn't really give anything up to either of them in regards to distance or spin. It feels slightly firmer which doesn't bother me in any way.

I bet you couldn't give the Duo Yellow away. Horrible yellow color, not as good feel as the Duo White.

Why would I give them away. To me they play and feel the same as the white. The yellow is not as good as the Srixon yellow but still easier for me to track than white

One of my wife's friends is sustainable person (hippie).  Once we were at her house and she was talking about her green houses and said something along the lines of if the end of society came and food supply chains were broken they could live for at least a year on their supplies.  Then she asked me (with an air of elitism) what we would do since we didn't a setup like hers.  I responded, "well I have at least 6,000 rounds of ammo at home...."

I had a similar experience at a dinner party pre-Y2K. Our host was bragging at length about all the supplies he had stockpiled in the event of a disaster and how he hoped that the rest of us would take similar precautions as he "hadn't done all this preparation so that others could benefit."

I still don't know whether my wife was genuinely concerned or just feeding me a great line, but she turned and asked me what sort of preparations we had made. I said "I've got a few hundred rounds of .308 and the address of a guy who has stockpiled food."

In the northern parts, where fall/winter close in, expect to lose part of your hoards amongst the fallen leaves.

I have 10 dozen Nike RZN tours between blacks and platinums in my locker at the club.  I'm a piker compared to some of the guys on this thread though!!   Might lose 0-1 per round and play like 50 rounds a year so I have a couple years' worth.

I looked the other night and think I've got around 15 dozen.  Most of those are B330S and ProV1 balls with my company's logo that one of my co-workers gave me (he doesn't golf).  The rest are a mix of K-Sigs, TP5 and B330RX.

*Sigh...

I was doing a fairly decent job of not ending up like "you people", but I think I have failed. I started off the summer with 2 dozen TPX '16, 1 dozen Snell MTB, and a sleeve of Vice Soft Red. I became convinced that Snell MTB was THE ball for me, but I would get a bulk 5 dozen Vice Soft in colors just for the rounds I want to play a different ball.

I stand before you today with;

13 dozen Nike RZN Platinum '16
3 dozen Vice Pro Soft Red
2 dozen Vice Pro Soft Lime
1 dozen Maxfli U6
1 dozen Maxli U6 Soft
1.5 dozen TPX '16
1 dozen TP '16

Yeah...I bought a bag of the RZN Platinum practice balls before a round 2 weeks ago and fell in love. I've played my two best rounds back to back with them, so I had to go and stock up. Perhaps the sad part is I hardly ever lose a ball. So these could be around for a really long time, and I am sure I'll be trying something else soon enough.

I guess among us seriously deranged ball hoarders I'm the rare one who only hoards one type of ball at a time. Once I start building up a hoard of one model, I get rid of the remaining hoard of last year's obsession.

If I look at my ball-storage shelves and see 25 boxes of 7 different brands of balls it looks like horrible clutter. But 25 identical boxes of the exact same ball? Well that looks like I need to buy a few more of that ball.

It's sad.
Everything has its drawbacks, as the man said when his mother-in-law died, and they came down upon him for the funeral expenses.

You guys are therapy for me. I thought I was over the top with my collection, but I'm not even close to some of you. I realize I have top notch premium balls by the dozens I will never play. Such a waste by me. My problem is when a new ball is introduced and the Wrxer's start raving about it, I have to give them a go. At least a dozen.
This was always my problem. I would load up on a ball I liked, then go off it to another ball about halfway through my stash. I now limit myself to no more than 2 dozen balls in reserve.

Now I am up to about 28 dozen or so.  Some of which I picked the Nike balls in a bigger quantity than needed cause me and another guy was gonna split them.  Well, he decided to only take two dozen so now I have like 5-7 dozen too many.

It a very good ball but I normally just use yellow balls so I have a bunch of Chrome Soft's and B330RX's in yellow plus a few dozen yel/black Truvis and even a couple of dozen other white ones so way too many!

It's kinda like ammo.
God knows you can't have too much ammo.

One of my co-workers has more than 30,000 rounds of .40, 5.56, and .308.

I hope the real life Negan doesn't get to him in case the zombies take over.  LOL!

I don't think I've used 28 dozen golf balls in my entire golf life, I just don't lose that many. The problem with having a large hoard of golf balls is that when he want to try something new what do you do with the horde that you previously bought? Many people like to change golf balls like they do putters or drivers.
