Anyone else in agreement with the review of the AP3's from Plugged In Golf below? Seems this is the first real negative review I've found/heard...

http://pluggedingolf...3-irons-review/

It's really not that far off from what Crossfield had to say IMO.

I think we'd all love for the AP3 to be the best of AP2 and AP1 as some of the marketing claims.   But honestly if that were the case, why would they need to keep making those clubs?

Realistically, there's got to be a tradeoff somewhere, and if there wasn't they'd likely be at a price that would make PXG seem like a bargain.

I really liked the AP3 based on a few rounds of testing... but I would think of it as more of a compromise between the AP1 and AP2 rather than having the best attributes of both. Still, they are some great sticks and I don't think most who give them a go will be disappointed with them.

My son got his AP3's on Friday (5 thru GW) with AMT Black Stiff - Soft Stepped Once.  Played on Sunday for 1st outing with new sticks. Very pleased with results on first get go.  Realized a 5 to 7 yard gain in distance with good trajectory throughout the set. No issues with "feel".

He is 52 years old, former collegiate golfer at Univ. of FL and Univ. of South Carolina.  Still plays to scratch. Driver SS is about 100 mph.  New set replaces an old set of Mizuno's (not sure of the model) that had old TT Dynalite R shafts that he picked up about 6 years ago at a bargain price.

Seems like the clubs are finding their way into players hands before the 29th which makes me very happy.  Hoping to have mine soon!

I ordered from Golf Galaxy mainly because I had store credit.  But these jamokes won't give me the PO number so I can check my order status, and will literally only tell me that "that club doesn't even release until the 29th."  I really wish I didn't have to deal with them.

I ordered from GG as well - was just there on my lunch break to grab a new glove and decided to ask if they had gotten any shipping information yet. They had no trouble checking for me. My order already shipped and UPS should have in store tomorrow ready for me to pick up Wednesday with grips installed -- it was cheaper to just do it at the store than through the order.

I'd just try to get someone else in the store and ask them to check the order status.

Is there any way to check the order status online with just an order number?

No offense to those that are experiencing a dramatic drop in ball speed on mis-hits but to see 10 yards less with an AP3 is a big time miss-hit and as a fitter, when I see these variables would immediately have my player try the AP1 and probably recommend it.

As a successful club pro with 5 Web.com and 3 PGA Tour events under my belt, I went full set of AP3's, and before anyone chimes in... YES I am on full Titleist Staff.  I've played AP2's since 2010 and the new AP3 gave me the look of more confidence and mishits for me (generally in the heal) have VERY similar flight and slightly less ball speed but not even close to the loss of flight characteristics on the AP2 mishit.

Couldn't be more than happy with the new AP3.  "Almost" identical looks to the AP2 with "Almost" forgiveness and ball speed of the AP1.  How could you not go wrong here?

Can you comment about the differences in the new Tour White AMT and the Tour Issue version?
They feel the same to me.  If there's a difference I can't tell.
its just tolerances from a QA perspective. the golfer cannot feel the difference and even if he/she could, you wouldn't know unless you alternated clubs each time.

Anybody see The Golf Fix last night? Breed was humping the new 718 line like I couldn't believe.

They are beautiful, though.

Do you think the AP3 will be more forgiving than mu current Ping i200's? (14 h'cap)

How did you get the Recoils? My fitter was down at Carlsbad and was told the Recoils won't be available until they got their quality control with the paint chipping figure out. Oh I'm peed off now.

i have the ping ie1 and would say that the face of the ap3 is much hotter and produced higher ball speeds.  however my pings where much more consistent on distance dispersion when struck poorly

I hit the AP3's yesterday and was disappointed.  I was hoping for an iron that would feel like an AP2 with the forgiveness of an AP1 and better distance than both.  What I saw and tested felt like it was rushed to market to compete with others who offered a compromise between their SGI and GI irons.

I'll say up front I couldn't believe the AP3's weren't forged, what a let down after hearing the AP1's in Japan were forged, I figured Titleist would give us a forged AP3.  The AP3's just didn't work for me, didn't like how they looked, felt or performed.  I was hoping they would be like the Adams CB3's or Srixon 565 so maybe I just had unrealistic expectations.

I don't know how they fit into Titleists line, though it seems the AP3's are the cast version of the T-MB's.  I guess they could also fit into some combo sets but I don't know many people that would want to combine a cast distance iron with a forged AP2 or CB.

The T-MBs aren’t forged. I did like them much better than the AP3s even though the Trackman numbers were essentially the same.

file:///Users/Ryan/Desktop/IMG_4630.JPGThe new toys arrived today, after racing home with a few hours of daylight to spare I spent some time on the range and could not be happier.  These sticks are beautiful, honestly that is the biggest difference coming from the 716s.  Distance was pretty much the same with the range balls, i did notice a few extra yards when i went on the course with real balls.  Turf interaction seemed to be slightly better my divots were pretty shallow this could be due to the leading edge, or the fact I didn't want to scuff them up haha.  Figured I would share a few comparison pics, hope everyone enjoys their new sticks.

I did not notice anything different, only hit about 25 balls with each club going to try to get nine in tomorrow after work and see how they perform.

Played about 13 holes after work today

So far so good!! Took a little to get in the groove but main test was to make sure distances were on par with my z745 and they were. The previous Ap2 716 I was 1/2 club to a full club short and these AP2 718 are much more explosive than years past IMO but still feel solid and forged. Seems like they are lower spin as well too. Ap3's also felt good yeah not as soft as AP2 but I don't care as long as my long irons get there. I bombed a few 4 irons (well that's 190 carry for me) hit them high (mine ordered 2 degrees weak in Ap3) and they landed soft which was awesome. My previous z545 long irons were unpredictable in distance but very forgiving but couldn't hold greens as well as these but the Ap3 are more demanding but more predictable which I like. AP2's feel softer than z745 and as long which makes me happy.

Jury is still out on the recoils I'm so used to steel but I'm almost 40 now so trying to make things easier. They are solid though like steel definitely can handle anything I can throw at them.

Gonna be testing out for a full round on Sunday at Torrey North and will report back.

PERFORMANCE UPDATE:  For those that are wondering, just getting their delivery, on the fence, or simply pro/anti-Titleist...

I've got 4 rounds in so far with my full set of AP3's.  The last two were competitive in our last TPGA stroke play event of the year.  These irons fly very straight and if worked with draws/fades, almost look like straight balls to my eye.  The ball flight is extremely manageable AND CONSISTENT as compared to my 716 AP2's.  Mishits, in the heal for me, launch just a tad lower but look almost identical with about 5 yd loss.  I'm looking at 1/2 club longer over previous set without effort (mine bent 1º weak) with AMT Tour White X100.   VERY happy with change as the AP3 has given me exactly what I was looking for... Looks of the AP2 with the more confidence inspiring attributes of the AP1.

I did hit 18/18 greens yesterday on just the 4th round with the AP3's.  I can count on my two hands how many times I've done this in my golfing career, not bad for just the 4th round of golf on a new set of clubs!
