It's an eagle opportunity any time your approach shot can reach the green!

No idea how many total in my life, probably 30+, but lately I average about 1-2 per year. In my 20s I accumulated a lot more, before my back started fighting back on me. My first was at age 15, about 5 years into playing, when I finally started developing some power. I've eagled back to back holes before on a 275 par 4 then a par 5. Only 1 thus far this year.

Probably about 5 to 8  a year. 7 this year playing about 30 rounds a year. I actually got two in one round earlier this year. I also got two all by myself in a scramble this year as well but those don't count. I hit the putt on the first one and the second but on the second the other 3 guys missed the putt first so I had a really good read that I wouldn't have read correctly.

I also got a par a couple times after blasting my tee shot ob which doesn't count but was a good consolation prize.

I still remember my first. The ball stopped on the edge. I yelled "oh come on" and scared it into the hole.

The funny thing is that I have yet to eagle my courses shortest par 5 which I normally only have 175 to 200 in on my second.

They just posted some PGA tour leaders in eagles made and I surprised how low it was. I seem to think it was around 7 or 8. I see stats for holes per eagle which Luke list is leading at 98 which is just over 5 rounds per eagle which seems to contradict the stat above.

Maybe someone in the know can say better

I had four last year I think. This year I only had one all the way up to the final week of the season, and then I got three in 27 holes of golf, including 2 in a row! Eagled a par 5 that I've never had one on, then the next hole was a par 4 that I cut the dogleg on, drove the green, and made a 20-footer.

They sure help the scorecard. Tied my best 9-hole score of the year (on this particular 9), but it was still pretty disappointing. The previous time I shot 38 there I made a big putt on the last hole for par to get it, this time I finished bogey-bogey-bogey-bogey to shoot the same score. All minor errors around or on the green. UGH.

I'm seeing Luke List with 18 eagles in the 2017 PGA tour season, Tony Finau is second with 16.

Three guys tied with 16 in 2016, Brooks Koepka had 20 in 2015.

So even that Koepka 2015 high-water mark represents an eagle every 6-7 rounds on average for him. It's amazing how our perceptions are influenced by only seeing the guys who are in competition each week. I'd have sworn that there are a bunch of guys on Tour making one or two eagles every tournaments. In fact, nobody has ever done that for a whole season even once in their life.

24 years playing golf.  I would guess that I get approximately 1 eagle per year on a par 5.  I have had 2 eagles on par 4's in that time frame, one with a 18' putt and one with a heater of a sculled 9iron that never got 4' off the ground, hit the flagstick dead center, left dimple marks in the fiberglass, and dropped straight down for a 2.

FWIW, that 9i from heaven was 23 years ago, so I'm currently waiting on Bobby Jones to reach down and touch another one of my approach shots into a par 4.

After more than 15 years of playing golf from tees that were too long for my puny 205-210 yard driving distance, I moved up six or seven years ago. All three of my Par 4 eagles have been since Teeing It Forward.

Two were sand wedges from 72 and 74 yards on the same 275-yard dogleg hole, just a few weeks apart. And the other was on a 320-yard hole with a pitching wedge.

I've also had my only occasion of reaching a Par 5 in two and sinking the putt since moving forward.

Back in my driver/fairway wood days I had holed out a 9-iron on a Par 5 for an eagle and that was my only non-ace eagle during that period. But I had holed out probably half a dozen times from 100+ yards for birdie on long-a** Par 4's and Par 5's after failing to get anywhere remotely near the green in regulation strokes.

I think I had my first one just last week, a little 15 yard pitch from just off a par 5. Had to hit a big drive and big second to get there. At least, I couldn't remember any other meaningful ones in 20 years of  playing.

Usually not long enough to have eagle putts, so the posts on playing 415 yard par 5s sound like cheating.

I agree entirely.

If I had to guess without knowing the stats I would have figured that Pro's would be getting an eagle 4 or 5 rounds and probably getting 30 or so a year.  Mind you, their not playing 530 yard par 5's but still, look how often they "Seem" to hit a green in two.  I guess that's the broadcasting only following the exceptional players and big opportunities.

Heck, most people would be was off based in guessing a pro's percentage from 5 feet as well.  I bet most Wrxer's are at 80%. ;)  I'm too embarrassed to say what I make at 5'.

I think some of the Tour players probably do "reach" tons of Par 5 greens in two strokes. But the vast majority of those are going to be 30, 40, 50 foot eagle putts which are just not very likely to go in even for Jordan Spieth, much less Bubba Watson or Bruce Koepka.

I'm longer than most and only had one eagle years ago.  A very tricky 5 foot putt from one level of the green down hill to the lower level.  Missed a 5 foot eagle putt on a punched green.  That was back in the day.

Recently had two eagles.  Tap-in on a short tricky par 4 and on a par 5 with a lucky 3 wood that bounced through the rough and hippity-hopped onto the green and settled 10 feet from the hole.

So, 3 in 40 years.

I've been playing since I was 10 and am now 23.  I had my first eagle when I was 12, I was hitting my irons so bad that I was just hitting punch shots from the fairways and letting them roll onto the greens instead of trying to fly irons there so I holed a 7 iron from 100 yards.  Since then I have had a slew of Eagles.  Still no hole in ones but I couldn't give you a definite number of eagles I would say definitely upwards of 50 though.  To put in perspective I have eagled 9 holes on my home course alone. My favorite is still one I had in a tournament when I hit a driver that rolled over the edge of the cup on a 360 yard par 4 and the ranger that was driving around saw it happen and started to freak out.  Thought that was pretty funny.

Probably averaging 0.75 to one eagle a month from April to November. Though that is when im playing 4+ rounds a week, and one of the courses I play weekly has a par 5 that would be a PGA par 4 unless the wind was blowing directly into your face. I eagled my home course par 5 18th once a week in June and that included hitting the flag and stopping 6 inches from the cup, I then couldnt get comfortable over the ball for all of July it seemed and dont think I made an eagle or birdie for the month.

I had a lot of eagles this year, mostly from par fives or the odd shorter par 4 I could sneak near the green. I think my final tally was 8.

I literally bookended my season with eagles in round 1 and 103 which was kinda cool. Had one on a menís night too and it got me 120 dollar skin.

That being said part of it is luck as I had zero last year including 2-3 missed putts inside 8-10 feet.
