My set arrived earlier this week.  9 irons (3 - W), custom fit (1/2" long and 4* upright) with the True Temper Dynamic Gold S300.  I am in love!  I was previously playing a set of Mizuno MP-32s, which were great.  However, they will now collect dust in the garage.  I really like the look of these irons.  The feel is not as nice as the the MP-32, but I will gladly sacrifice a little feel for the forgiveness of the AP2.

I have had mine for about a month and love them. They came stock with PX 5.5, but I may swap my KB 5.5s from my other irons into them soon. Anyone else have AP2 with KB in them?

I'm sure I'll like them with KB as well. The clubhead is the perfect balance of forgiveness and blade shape.

I have played for 49 years of my 59 years and had many sets of irons. These are the best ever!!! Great look, feel, trajectory and sound. I still carry a 1.2 so I feel as though I can have a good opinion.

I know what you're saying.  I'm much the same, just turned 60, been plating for 52yrs and my index last season was 1.2, finishing at 1.8.  Played forged blades all my life.

I have the AP2's with KB Tour stiff shafts and they are just stupid silly to hit straight.  The feel isn't as pure as my MP32's, but they go so straight - to hell with feel  :yahoo:

I agree with the comment above with using both sets (ap2&mp-32) these are
amazing, but im also thinking about changing these reject-x shafts and trying other
stiff shafts.

Overall the best club ive played since the mp-32s (which i still have)

You might want to try the KB Tour shafts - they are a bit pricey, but I can honestly say these are the smoothest shafts I've ever played.  I've done the S300's, S300SL's, PX 5.5's and the KBT is the best yet.

I ordered mine through Dana Upshaw, the KBT's were IIRC, a $15 upgrade, and I also wanted Lamkin grips.  Titty Custom Shop had them done in about 3 weeks.

i'm a 2 handicap and here is my review of the ap2 irons
i have the the project x 5.5 in mine  and after 10 rounds  here are the plus and negatives....
+ great feel
+ nice high ball flight
+ work left or right high or low
+ easy to look at
_ inconsistent distances
_ weird ball flights (alot of knuckle balls)specially in the long irons.... very strange!
_ horrible wind clubs
_ spins the ball way to much

i will stick with these for awhile longer but they will be gone soon...

You are right on the money. I am a solid 4-5 handicap and had exactly the same results. The most frustrating for me what the inconsistant distances. Other AP2 owners I have talked with say the same thing. I also had bad gap differances between my wedge and 9 iron. Took the set in to get checked and every single club was off for either loft or lie. Once corrected they hit very nicely but sitll have most of the issues you have mentioned. I am now trying Ping i15 irons. Not forged, but more consistant distance control.

Anyone tried the new AP2-712?

I've had the original AP2 for about 3 years now and been itching to upgrade.

I love these irons. Although I am trying to unload them, I've hit the best golf I've ever hit since purchasing these.

I am currently on my second set of AP2s second generation 710s, left handed with DG S300s and these irons feel fine, not great like my Mizuno MP 68s or my Callaway Muscleback Razr X's but real solid when flushed and they fly sooo straight!  I am also able to work the ball some though snap hooks and large fades are very hard to pull off. I generally play a fairly straight ball with either a slight draw or slight fade as the shot calls for. I will be keeping these clubs this time!!!! :good:

Wow Fantastic clubs. I'm switching from Ping Anser's as I thought those felt good but they don't compare to my new AP2's. I got graphite design i65 shafts custom fitted as these are easy to hit straight, & starting to work the ball a bit both ways as I only had these out for 3 rounds but I'm wanting to get out everyday now. Getting use to the lighter feel due to the graphite shafts but even on my misses the hold their line pretty good with maybe 8-10 yds less. Talk about a nice feel when struck correctly as I can see these club will help me to become a much better ball striker. I'm hitting as many GIR as I always did but the confidence factor is higher as I found myself a couple of time shooting for the pin that was tucked away in a corner over a bunker some 160 yds + away. Talk about a big smile as I highly suggest everyone should give these a try last when looking for a new set as it wouldn't surprise me if you walk away owning a new set of AP2's...they are that good.

Did anyone tried AP2 with graphite shaft?
Yes I have the Graphite Design i65 reg. & absolutely love them. I'm coming from steel so I need to slow my swing down but getting the accuracy & distance I was expecting to get. My new favorite set

Hi guys, I currently play the 1st generation AP2s and I am happy with them.  Have had them now going on 4 yrs, so time for me to get a set set of irons.  Still very interested in the 712 AP2s, but was a little intrigued by the new offerings from Adams (CMB Foged) and or Scratch's AR or EZ 1s.  I am a 7 handicap and a pretty solid iron player.  Will probably still go with the AP2s (maybe change from DG S300 to the KBS C Tapers).

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I greatly respect the reviews from my fellow WRXers.

God Bless,

TK

I would really like to get more consistent in my iron play to go from the AP1 to these AP2. hopefully sometime next year.

I just bought the AP2's this year and I absolutely love them! The feel like butter when you hit the ball. My confidence level is through the roof when i'm about to take a swing with them. I can't say enough great things to do them justice. Go hit them at your local golf shop and see for yourself!
