Hello everyone!

I'm thinking about changing the shaft in my driver, and was looking for some input.

I currently use a 2016 M1 460cc driver, with a stock Aldila Rogue Silver 70g X stiff flex shaft. I have a medium transition, nothing super quick, swing speed around 105-110. When I really want to go for it I can get up to 115-120, but I rarely want to. My miss is a high right shot, sometimes due to leaving the face open. Currentl flight is medium-high, with medium-high spin.

I currently have a HZRDUS Red 75g 6.0 shaft in my 2017 M2 3 wood and I absolutely love it. Great feel and shot shape/spin.

I have been looking at the Project X HZRDUS shafts, both yellow and black. I was looking for a smoother feeling shaft, with better feel and control of the club head.

I was looking at:
HZRDUS Yellow 63g 6.5 x-stiff
HZRDUS Yellow 75g 6.0 or 6.5
HZRDUS Black 63g 6.5 x-stiff
HZRDUS Black 75g 6.0 or 6.5

I would love your input on feel/right flex for me, I have heard that the HZRDUS shafts are quite stiff as well, so that's why I'm also looking at going down in weight.

Thank you!

I have a M1 440 with Black 75g 6.0. It's a very stout shaft, not quite as smooth as my diamana whiteboard 70s. I have a similar swing speed to you, and this is the first shaft I've had where I can really go after it and feel comfortable with how it's going to perform. Having said that, this shaft also is very low launch/spin. No idea if that will fit your swing or not.

Try to go somewhere to test them out.

I have the HZRDUS Black in my Callaway GBB Epic driver.  My experience playing the shaft and during the fitting is that they are a bit stiffer than most brands.  The S will be more like an S+.  However, to me they still feel smooth, not as boardy as say the Matrix Black Tie shaft.  The Yellow and the Black are very different shafts.  The Yellow is counter weighted, designed for smooth swingers, might be a good fit for your swing profile.  It was a hard choice between the Black and the Yellow.  In the end for me the black was the more consistent shaft.  With the Yellow I hit some of my longest drives in my fitting and some of the biggest pushes.  Hope that helps.

Thank you guys! I'll have to go try them out, I'm very interested in this counterbalanced yellow shaft though, from what I can read the black is super stiff!

I have the same driver setup as you. Can't wait to see your feedback on the shaft change

For me rogue silver 70x is very smooth but the ball flight is still extremely high.

Went out and tested a Yellow 75g 6.0 and a Black 63g 6.5. The Yellow felt awesome, knew where the club head was, spin rates were around 3000, but with a 115mph club head I was carrying over 300y. Dispersion was decent, definitely something that could be tweaked if I took a bit off. I'm really interested in trying a 63g 6.5.

The yellow was tested in a new Ping G400 standard driver. Spin could have come down with an LS version, or an M1 head.

The black 63g 6.5 was super smooth and stable especially when I went at it. I had more difficulties feeing the club head, but spin rates came down to about 2000, and had huge role outs. Again carrying over 300, and rolling out to about 330. My only problem was the dispersion was much wider. The black had a much lower ball flight as well.

The Black was tested in a 2017 M1 460cc in most forgiving setting.

I have the same swing speeds (find my sweet spot is around that 110ish area) and am trying to stop the "brute" mentality.
I would try the yellow 6.5 75g at a 45" playing length.
I have this is in my epic sz and am loving the combo. I've tried the black in the past but my dispersion was all over. I feel like I put a much smoother swing on it with the yellow, and yet when I really step on it, it maintains its stability and just wants to hold its line.
I'm thinking about picking up another and tipping it 0.5-1", seeing how that goes, and putting one or the other in my 3w.

The Yellow for being counter weighted is still a very stable shaft.

What were your numbers with Rogue Silver? Higher or lower ball flight/LA with Hzrdus pair?

You sound like a good candidate for the Kuro Kage DC Tx shaft.  (Note: Tx flex is an entirely different profile / build than the other flexes and is tour-only, you can find them on the BST or through Tollbros)

Low spin as anything out there, tip heavy, but great feel.  Never feels too stiff, but tightens up proportionally to the effort of your swing, I cannot overpower this shaft.  Identical swing numbers to you.  It's expensive but well worth it and these shafts have great resale value if it doesn't work out.

Start there before the HZRDS stuff.

I ended up going back and testing more shafts, the black 63g 6.5 had a much tighter dispersion and allowed me to go at it when I wanted to! Im picking one up, will give feedback on the course as well!

Let me know if you change your mind and want to try the yellow.  I have a 6.5 yellow on the BST that came with my M1 440 that I ordered this year.  I liked the yellow, but like a good WRXer I've moved on!

I went from Rogue Silver 125MSI to HZRDUS Yellow 63 and never looked back. HZRDUS for me is more stable, higher launching, and easier to control. My swingspeed hovers around 100mph and I switched from S-Flex in the Rogue to 5.5 in the HZRDUS Yellow. I couldn't hit the Black at all - it just felt harsh and I had no idea, where my club was in the swing.

Cheers,
Michael

Will do! I picked up the HZRDUS Black 63g 6.5 today, instantly feel the weight difference in my 2016 M1, coming from the Rogue Silver 75g X-Stiff. My only problem is that I live in Canada and shipping that yellow to me would cost an arm and a leg!

I did some more research and found out that the Rogue Silver is actually counter-balanced like the yellow, which is why It felt natural and normal. I had a 75g X-Stiff and couldn't feel the club head in the swing. Since testing with the HZRDUS Black 63g 6.5 I can definitely tell where the club head is and I think I'm going to really enjoy it. My usual swing speed is 110mph, if I really try I can get to 115-120 but then dispersion suffers.

Ill report back with more findings once I get on the course!

I took the M1 + HZRDUS Black out today, felt amazing. Out the weights both in the back track all the way back. Face contact dispersion got tighter and the flight was perfect, dead straight with a small fade. I can tell where the club head and face are in the swing now which is helping with making good contact.

Highly recommend this combination now!

I did! The HZRDUS Black I found dropped my spin close to about 1500 or so, where as the weights in the back were more forgiving, gave the head a wicked feel through the swing, and pushed the spin back up a bit.

I don't have the exact numbers as I haven't been back to a sim, but the feel is unreal!

exactly my experience - around 100mph and usually Stiff flex in every shaft, but the Yellow 5.5 is MONEY for me - stable, high launching, low spinning Bombs !
Left not completely out of the equation when i put a bad swipe on it, but it never duck hooks on me like many do thankfully
love it in my g400

For those who have hit the rogue silver and the yellow/black in the same head - did either shaft significantly outperform in ballspeed?

And by significantly, I mean more than 5 shots where ballspeed was 3 mph greater.

I don't know my swingspeed but hit my DCT 280ish and a 9 iron 150 yards. The Rogue silver 70 stiff is the most stout shaft I've tried...I can't load the damn thing. Interested to read more about the comparison in this thread...

I don't know my swingspeed but hit my DCT 280ish and a 9 iron 150 yards. The Rogue silver 70 stiff is the most stout shaft I've tried...I can't load the damn thing. Interested to read more about the comparison in this thread...

Is it that you can't load it or you can't feel it load?

I thought the same thing when I first started playing the rogue silver but it goes.

Had the 70 gram xs rogue silver in my m1 440 and that it played really boardy. That was even butt trimming and adding 9 gram weight to the head. Now I play a 917 d3 with hzrdus black 75 gram 6.5  and love it.

Rogue 70 110 in x-stiff feels like a board compared to my KKDC 80 in TX.

I don't know but everything is a knuckle ball or low right. I didn't have an issue with a Saber Tour Vector or my current low launching shaft.

I had that happen a couple years ago when I tipped a v2 7 S flex a bit too much.

Guess it shows how different golf swings are.  From 155 yards out, I'm hitting a nice smooth 7 iron, and I play the Rogue Silver 70s, and I think the shaft is smooth.  It's a great shaft.  My other favorite shaft that I've tried is the Attas Elements MK 7s.
