2017 Taylormade M2 Tour w/ Tensei CK Pro White 80TX

Best I've owned by a mile.

A man after my own heart, and the same set up Rory uses. For the stronger player the Pro White 80tx in the 2017 m2 Tour/2016 M2 deep face is a weapon. I'm shocked more power guys don't play this combo. A lot of guys seem scared of the 80 White in a 3 wood but it's remarkably easy to hit and DEEP.

Your shaft test posting and continuous praise of the M2 + PW shaft is starting to tempt me a bit...
I'm already searching for tensei shaft to try on the m1 head but now the 3 wood itch is starting

I like Pro White in the 3 wood much more than the driver. I feel like the Pro Orange driver/Pro White 3 wood set up is outstanding. You couldn't buy my 3 wood out of my bag if you offered me $1000 for it. It is, hands down, the best 3 wood I've ever owned. Massively long off the tee and easy to get up off the deck. I normally am not a big distance bragger type guy, and outside of Trackman data you will rarely hear me mention distance in a thread, but to make my point, the first time I hit it on the course, I drove a 294 yard par 4 over water. Very small landing area just short of the green with OB right and bunkering left. High risk high reward. The ball hit pin high, hopped and rolled into the back fringe, 317 yards lasered back to the tee marker. The FIRST time I hit in on a golf course. My objective was to land it slightly SHORT and have it kick on. It was 15 yards longer in the air than any 3 wood I'd ever hit on that hole before. It hasn't left the bag since. Also, like Bomber said, you can shave off 15-20 yards but just hitting a high fade with it. Turn it over and it hits and runs. I've seriously hit no less than probably 400 3 wood set ups with different heads and shafts in the last 5 years. ONE club was close, 2017 M2 Tour head with the same shaft. That's it. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING else can hang.

If I don't have confidence I can handle the M2 Tour head, would you still like this combo in the standard 2017 M2 head? I am always reluctant with forward COG designs, but your review is intriguing and I did like a blue Tensei I hit. Seemed similar to a Diamana blueboard, which I always have liked. And is the Tensei Pro White a big difference from non-pro? I'd probably be looking at a stiff in standard M2 as I swing 3 woods about 104-105. Thanks!

Didn't think I'd ever play anything other than my War Bird 3+, but I found an original Steelhead 3 for $15 (looking like it had never been hit) and it's perfect.

Personally, I prefer simple and low profile. I have a Ping G25 with an AD BB 7x that is a missile and it's very easy to hit off the deck. I did also just order a 2016 M1 3w w/ the Tensei Pro White 70tx to test against it however. Based on sound, look, feel, and numbers, the TM will probably win out. However, I don't think any brand makes a more playable and easy to hit fairway wood than ping. My only knock on Ping is that I'm not a huge fan of the sound, and they typically don't offer the ball speed that I can get with TM, Cally or Titleist.

I was fit for all my clubs. The Epic 3 wood works very well for me. It's not too shallow or too deep. It's easy to hit off the fairway, or a decent lie in the rough, and great off the tee. I have a 50 gram Diamana shaft in mine. I have always been a fan of Diamana shafts and I really like this one.

I have a Tour Issue M2 T3 that I love.  Low spin off the tee and mid/low flight.

Me too man. I had a TEE EX9 that I hit well. Traded it in on a 2017 M2 3w and 5w. After my first round with the M2's....the buyers remorse hit hard. Just recently snagged another EX9 off the bay. Can't wait for it to get here and get those M2's on the BST!!!

I haven't hit any of the newer 3 Woods with the exception of the 2016 M2, which I liked quite a bit.  I like my RBZ just as much, so I decided to save my $$$.

2016 3HL M2 is awesome.  Love the sound and feel.  Easy to control off the tee and is very long, easy to hit off the deck.

Interesting reading here as there's a lot of recommendations for newer 3 woods. I myself look at a 3 wood like a good putter, once it's found you don't leave it behind. The last new 3 wood I bought was a Titleist 913 with an upgraded PX shaft, great club but just something about it that I am not consistent with. I have a slightly older Ping i20 with the same PX upgraded shaft and I am usually far more consistent with that club than the Titleist. But my main 3 wood is one I stumbled on in my golf closet that I had bought years ago and forgot I had and that is a Sonartech ss-03 with a Proforce V2 shaft. All of my 3 woods are x-flex but I've been using the Sonartech for over a year now and I don't see it leaving anytime soon. The club for me is awesome off the tee and equally as strong off the turf, rough, sand etc. I don't remember why I never really used it before but it's solid now in my bag. I've compared it to newer offerings but the launch, trajectory, and roll out works for me. I guess I just prefer some of the older offerings.

There have been a million 3 wood threads lately but at least this one is "what do you hit" instead of "what should I hit" even though they end up getting the same responses.

3 woods have always been a trouble club for myself.I would switch two or three times a season. But since putting the 2016 M2 2 wood in my bag I am confident to say that it will be in there for awhile. (all though I've been itching to test the epic).

I try to replace my 3 wood all the time but the TEE CB4 tour is still in the bag. I think confidence in 3 wood is the biggest part of the battle

Fusion 3 with Speeder Evo 3 shaft
sits nicely on carpet and blast as easy off that as a low tee
just wants to go super straight and it is almost as long as my driver off the tee
high moi and easy launch
why would you bother with anything else

Seems like a pattern. Literally 16-17 responses for Taylormade and the rest for just a handful of others.

Taylormade
Callaway
Tour Edge
Cobra
Ping

That's about sums up ever single response, so hopefully that narrows it down for OP.

There are a lot of good three woods out there.  With the right shaft and loft I'll bet many of them would work fine.

What's been working for me lately is teeing off with my 3-wood without a tee, i.e. off the turf  When I tee it up I probably hit it a little farther, but generally I'm looking for accuracy when I tee of with a 3-wood.  Off the turf I hit it a lot straighter and have more confidence that it will go where I expect it to.  More fairways hit is what I'm looking for, and it's been working for me quite well.
