I'm sorry to start a new thread about the weights as I know there has been no updates on availability. My question however, is has anybody tried the tank weights in the O-Works putters? I'm only going off pictures online but they look close? This would be a great workaround if it worked out. Anyone have access to both?

I have been on the guys at Odyssey about weights for this series since before pre-order of the first o-works.

They originally had them listed on the site with the description "adjustable weighting".

Why have removable weights when you can't change them.I just got the 2-ball O-Works.I have a weight kit for my V Line Cruiser and the weights are a hair to big.The price you have to pay for these you'd think they would at least throw in a couple of extra weights.Had to add some high density lead tape to the sole to compensate the Pure Big Dog grip I installed. They didn't think this threw when they released these putters. Now when they do come out with a kit that will be another expense for us Odyssey supporters.I have a wrench to remove the weights but for those who don't there's another expense.I really think this is a great putter but it would be nice to have options with the weights.

I agree it sucks. I'm hoping they still release them. But for the record the callaway wrench works on these weights.

Someone in another o-works thread said he was able to put in 5g tungsten putty and probably get an additional 5g more in the hollow (backside) cavities of the 10g weights.  So potentially 20g workaround if Odyssey doesn't offer heavier weights.

The weights are solid all the way around? Any link to that thread? He put the putting in the weight cavity? Did the weights protrude?

I think he was saying when you take out the weights the backside is hollow and has room to insert the tungsten puddy.  Then reinstall.

I see now. Sounds like the larger heads come with lighter weights (makes perfect sense). I wish I had some calipers to measure if the cavity in the head is deeper than the weight to allow for a little room for the putty.

The 7s uses 10g weights, which have a fairly large hollow area when you remove them. I managed to fill the cavity in the weights with two two inch-ish sized lead strips cut into small pieces. No idea how many grams it is, but certainly helps with the countercore grip I'm using.

Now if anyone has any advice on fixing the horrible hollow 'ting' sound this putter makes, that would be awesome!

I ordered some putty since a caliper the measure would cost more than the trial and error and I'm rather impulsive. I'll report back after I receive it.

That's weird to hear the 7s has a tingy sound?

Yes. 7s red. Sounds exactly the same as a works sabertooth that I got rid of because of the horrible hollow ting it made. Not on every putt (strangely) but too often for comfort.

That would probably bug me too. I wonder why that is. Too bad you can't cotton ball a putter huh? Maybe dip it in flex seal? lol

According to someone I talked to at a retail store here in Phoenix, adjustable weights are supposed to be coming at some point. His Callaway/Odyssey rep was named at the source. No dates or anything were given though I'm afraid.

I totally impulse bought a black 7S and it does feel a tad on the light side sadjuatable weights would be welcomed. I don't even know if I'm keeping it though. Possibly the biggest impulse purchase I've ever made. I finally grabbed a Spider Tour the other day and so far I'm liking it quite a bit.

haven't heard any tinging sound on my 7s black... maybe it's the micro hinges springing?

I knew it wasn't just me. I got both of them and tested them out side-by-side. The Red seem to be tingy (springy) while the Black was solid like it was a one piece with no insert. Same face, same everything and just thought maybe the hosel was not installed well. For me, the Black had better distance control, straighter and just made more putts.

I just stuck a few pieces of lead tape under my weights to see what would happen. Not sure I've got enough to actually make a noticeable difference in weight. The 3 small pieces of tape are thick enough to make the weights protrude a little but when tight but, I'm thinking this might actually be a good thing for me because I have a tendency to strike the ball high on the putter face.

What O-Works model do you have?I have a 2-ball and there's a few places to add high density lead tape with out noticing.I have some on the sole and some tucked away behind the face. There's also some room underneath the 2-balls.It's pretty bad we have to go threw all this s--t just to add weight to the head when Odyssey could of just come out with some extra weights. The 2-ball only comes with 1 weight on the back end.So all I want is at least a 20 gram weight.

Yeah the weights in the smaller heads are solid all the way down and are not marked with a weight. I think they're 15g though. That does give you a little room to play with though!

Thanks for the pics!

The weights are similar to Cameron weights with the open recess on the underside.

What I have done with Cameron's to bring up weight is get the rubber tungsten square pads from Golf Works and put 1-2 squares under each weight. The tungsten squares will get you 2g added weight per square.

Hmmm, that idea has promise. If you could squeeze two squares each into the cavity of one of the weights you could get it up to 358g, which is all the more I would want to add.

Anybody happen to know if those tungsten squares can be purchased locally anywhere? Golf Galaxy, PGASS, etcetera?

Does anyone have a picture of what the underside of the weights look like when removed?

Here you go.

Thanks for the pics!

The weights are similar to Cameron weights with the open recess on the underside.

Turns out Golf Galaxy does sell them. At least the one near me which used to be a Golfsmith. And I'm pleased to report that this little trick works great too. The little squares themselves are a pretty tight fit but you can get them in there and the weights screw back in with no problem. For me, two extra little weights on each side, 8g total (358g head wieight), is just about perfect.
