I start this thread after having a weak moment on Amazon... it got me thinking about some of the stuff in my closet

I have a ton of Puma, Ping, Cutter and Buck, some Izod, and some spatterings of under armour, and a few others hanging in there, but the Puma and Ping combined are close to 10 to 1 ratio over everything else.

but there are a couple of hidden gems.....

There is a brand that you can get polo style, super high performance fabric, shirts for 20 bux all day long.  They make great stuff... Augusta sports.
I found a couple of them on Amazon, and my buddy has a sports store that deals with the baseball/softball teams around here and he says everything he does is through them, the stuff is great

Another couple of items Ive found through my weakness for buying clothes (I'm a very skinny kid that got fat after a car wreck, and then last year lost about 35 pounds, still fat, but had to replace my entire wardrobe)

I just found "EAGEGOF"  the people that listed it on amazon, don't even realize that the is a golf club in the logo, that creates the letter "L" to make it "eagLe goLf"

they are moisture wicking, stretch fabrics, and have a good color selection, and are like 25 dollars shipped with prime.. and they have my weakness... a button down collar on a golf shirt... meaning they look right for me to have them for work...I live in florida and run a group of audiology clinics.. so I wear slacks and a polo pretty much every day... I like button down polos...

What have you found

I have several Russel brand tech polos from Walmart... they were on closeout around Christmas time last year and I got them all for ~$7 each.  They're a little lighter and have more sheen than higher-end tech polos but they have hidden snaps on the collars instead of buttons and die-cut vents under the collar fold.  I've had a few customized with a university logo in vinyl heat-press and you wouldn't be able to tell them apart from a $50-$70 licensed item.

The current Ben Hogan line from Walmart is pretty solid too for sub-$20 each.  The Champion C9 line from Target isn't bad either, but for $25-$30 each I'll just catch better stuff on clearance.  Also, most of the Greg Norman stuff from the last couple of years is pretty great and I've picked it up for ~$6 each from Burlington Brands at various outlet malls.

Found some PGATOUR shirts at TJ Maxx. Lightweight, breathable, and not too long when untucked. Less than $12 and can usually be found there often.

H&M and Uniqlo.

I am a huge H&M fan, but you really have to have the body type for it. Luckily for me I do. Most of their Polos run about 7$, and while they aren't dry fit they are a very breathable stretchable cotton like material. I haven't gotten hot in them yet.

I had a boss tell a few of us after work one day at happy hour that every man should have a few suits worth a couple thousand $$$. like a fool I went out and bought a suit for around $1k a few weeks later (I was like 22, and did not have that kind of money floating around). I also had a few other decent suits that were gifts and such.

I stopped into H&M one day a few months later and came out with a suit that was about $150. I liked it so much I got a few more throughout the course of the year.

All of the "nice" suits are still in a closet collecting dust somewhere. Only reason I haven't given them to goodwill is because I paid so much for them.

So yes, I am all about paying 10$ for a shirt. especially if it looks as good as something a big brand is selling for 100$ (i also love getting nike polos on eBay for super cheap)

I could never get into H&M stuff.  It all just feels and looks so cheap (no offense).  I go in their store fairly often because I always hear such great things about it and I always walk out with nothing.  There are things I have wanted to buy because they look good but the minute I touch it I hate it.

I actually stumbled upon Maide by Bonobos before joining this site.

They made great stuff.

Rumor has it walmart bought them. Doubt the quality continues.

Bonobos isn't exactly a no name brand.  I mean their biggest retailer is Nordstrom.

I absolutely love Bonobos.  I wear their clothes for work nearly everyday.  I'm skeptical about the Walmart acquisition as well.  However, so far Walmart is saying they are making no changes to Bonobos and Walmart is saying there are no plans to carry Bonobos in stores.  Walmart is trying to grow their ecommerce business.  With that said, I am skeptical.  If Walmart tells the market they will grow by x% per year and Bonobos in lagging in that number than I would expect changes to be made.  Kind of like what happend to the golf line at Nike.  A quick way would be to do it via cheaper materials.

I wear golf shirts to work every day and they are made by Foundry. I'm pretty sure it's JC Penny house brand but they have held up well and fit me the best.

JCPenny's had some St. Andrews brand polos on sale for $11 a while back. They looked great and were a nice light weight stretch fabric, so I picked up 1 in each color. I wish I had gotten more, because they are the best polos I've ever owned.

Kirklands Signature shirts are usually pretty good.  They are about $15 at Costco.  Also they usually carry some other brands that are usually going on sale in the fall.  Look for prices that end in .97 at costco if you are looking for a deal.

Charleston Green, owned by a WRX member, reasonable prices on Amazon and coming soon to a retailer that I can't remember right now. Great shirts!

How thick is the material? I have a few off brand shirts and the material is very thin. In contrast to some UA shirts I have which are slightly heavier, which I like better.

Also how is the fit? I usually wear large but the UA shirts I have are a loose fit and I wear a medium. I don't like looking like I am wearing a bag.

some of them are thicker but they are not thick like the UA stuff... and they fit a bit on the smaller size.
