Here is the deal with the New England Patriots.  I am guessing Bob Kraft and Bill Belichick had a big falling out over the Jimmy G vs Tom Brady scenario with Brady and his health guru always around, Brady and his TV show, Brady and his book, becoming a bit bothersome not to mention healthy or not the Patriots...ie Belichick might have actually wanted to trade Brady over Garopollo.  At the beginning of the year, They had Brady, Jimmy G, Jacoby Brissett.  Talk about your Montana to Steve Young scenario!  Favre to Rodgers etc.  But the owner has a big boner for Tom Brady.  The owner overrides the great mind of Bill Belichick and trades Brissett for a bag of peanuts and Garoppolo for a second-round pick????
Belichick knew he had his guy just waiting for Brady to retire.  He wasn't going to retire so Belichick was probably going to wait another year and trade him in the offseason.  Brady knows something is not right so he goes to Daddy Kraft and says trade Jimmy G...watch this video and it all makes sense
https://youtu.be/1rWZIGS10TU
Incorrect. Grap was gone unless the Pats franchised him. And for 20 mil give or take was not going to happen. They had some offers year before and no Cleveland did not offer 134 draft picks for him. They played the waiting game and lost. And no other way to do so. It was the if Brady fails then Grap was around and that obviously did not happen.

As a few of you in this thread know I am a long time Redskin fan, and too have been a believer in Kirk Cousins as a starting NFL qb since he
was drafted. He shut up during the RG Me debacle. He was patient on the bench. He produced some fine performances.
He is not HOF quality, but he does have the talent to be a starting NFL qb I feel. He too has a wonderful attitude and is a quality dude.
Mr. "You Like That " is heading to a new team soon. He posted this fine farewell statement on his blog yesterday. I thought I would share it here.
Thanks for the effort, and thank heavens you are not going to the NFL QB cemetery that is the Cleveland Browns.
Hey doctoro, toast with me a frosty one. The Alex Smith era begins.

BLOG / 03.12.2018

Farewell, Washington

As I’m about to make one of the bigger decisions of my life, I’ll be saying goodbye to my familiar life as a Redskin. After calling Washington home for the past six years, the team has decided to move on to another option and, in turn, my family and I will be moving on as well.
Knowing I will not be putting on a Redskins jersey next season, it’s hard to look back at all that’s taken place and not become emotional. I will forever be grateful to Mike Shanahan for taking a chance on me in the 2012 draft. At the time, many people saw his selection as foolish. Time proved otherwise and taught me that there are no guarantees in this business -- if you work hard and learn from your mistakes, good things can happen. For the first time in 11 years I will participate in choosing where I play. Having said this, I would not trade the past decade for anything.
I am filled with gratitude over the unwavering support and devotion from you, the fans, both on and off the field. I’ll never forget how you stormed Redskins Park at 3 a.m. to welcome us home from Philadelphia after clinching the NFC East in 2015. I’ve never been so happy to have my car mobbed. You made “You Like That!” a catchphrase and your boundless generosity helped us raise tens of thousands of dollars for International Justice Mission to protect victims of violence all over the world -- No words will express the depth of my gratitude, but “thank you” will have to do for now.
Though we are ultimately measured on a win-loss record, my fondest memories will be the little achievements and struggles that got us there…the everyday memories that made the job fun. I’ll miss Trent Williams’ clever one-liners at a teammate’s poor fashion choices (mostly mine) ... breakfast with Scherff and Sundberg …Tress Way’s trivia games … Ryan Kerrigan’s consistency … Jordan Reed’s horrible ping pong (but amazing routes) … Chatting with Jamison Crowder & Josh Doctson in the cold tub …“Dunkin’ Fridays” with Colt McCoy… and on and on.
Just like you never fully leave your hometown -- you never fully leave your first NFL team, especially after six seasons. My family and I will always have a piece of Washington deep in our hearts. I arrived as a single, 23-year-old from the Midwest -- with a lot to learn and prove. I now leave as a husband of four years to my wife, Julie, and a father to my son, Cooper -- but still with lots to learn and prove.
There is no way I would be where I am today without the leadership of the Redskins organization … Coach Gruden, Bruce Allen, Dan Snyder. Thank you all for the opportunity you gave me. When Cooper someday asks: “Hey Dad, what was it like playing for the Redskins?” I’ll proudly tell him it was a dream come true.
Thanks for having me, Washington, and thanks for making me into the player I am today!

Serious question has an NFL QB ever been paid more to do less than Sam Bradford? I mean dude got in on one of the last huge rookie QB contracts and is now on his 3rd or 4th contract total earnings pushing 135 million in 8 NFL seasons. I know QB wins is not a stat but 135 million for a dude with a sub 500 record and significant injury history is mind boggling. But hey AZ is the king of the 30+ year old QB retread QB right

Skins fan here and while I do love me some Kirk, paying $84m just seems crazy.  The Vikes have a window they can win with him and they can afford it, so good luck to them.

I agree.... I don't know what all the fuss is about him.... He's just not that good and seems to be getting hurt a lot in recent history.  Jets getting Teddy Bridgewater, why wouldn't the Cardinals go after that guy?!

Any word on Foles?  Is he getting out of PHI?  He's never shined anywhere other than Philly so I am not sure it matters, just curious.

My Bengals making free agents offers and making a trade in the same offseason has me convinced Marvin Lewis has dirt on Mike Brown :)

It is... and it's gotta be because we can't afford anyone worth paying with the terrible decisions Jerry has made in the past.  Guy has single handedly ruined one of the greatest franchises of all time.

I agree with you  I don't know if the Vikings will ever be as good as they were last year.
Injuries, new coach, player movement, all can have effects on a team.  The defense will lose some players when the free agency period rolls around again next year. Kirk Cousins is a little upgrade perhaps, but not at that price.
The Eagles won with Nick Foles and great defense and a sound running game combined with solid coaching.

I seen it coming a month ago. Adding hurns was the final straw. Dez is a locker room problem and doesnít have the numbers to back it up anymore.
Still to this day the ONLY reason Dallas drafted him is because Jerry passed on Moss because of character issues and he didnít want the same thing to happen again.
Dez will get picked up, if he wants to stay in the east I think itís the Redskins.
Some games I loved him and others I forgot he was on the team, but mostly forgot. He will not be hard to replace.

Orlando comes back every now and then to watch some high school games and chats it up with my friend.  He didn't say it so bluntly but led him to believe that Dez was for sure a locker room problem, maybe more of a diva.  I dont think they will miss Dez, they weren't close to being good enough to be in contention anyway WITH Dez, so I dont see this move hurting them.  The ONLY thing I see hurting them is him playing the Cowboys twice a year and whatever team it is gets him to perform at a higher level and he eats the Cowboys D up, which has also not been much of an issue for a lot of receivers.  The Cowboys have a funny way of letting guys get comfortable on their team and underachieving while getting paid big bucks.  I didn't believe T.O. was an issue, but I do believe Dez has been.  This frees up a little room to bring in some youth at the position, someone who is hungry and wants to earn that check.  Steven Jones seems to be moving away from his father's "family" type treatment of the players and I like it.  Make them earn it, and if they don't, cut em loose.  That's why they were so good under Jimmy Johnson.  He did not tolerate mediocrity, and that's how it should be at this level.  Dez will find a home, but that man is really going to have to earn some respect around the league instead of demanding it.

Dez is out of the Big D.
So I know a few Boyz fans that participate on this thread.
Are you all partying with the news? Perhaps a few might be sad.
Chime in Cowboy fans.

Devin and Nix,
Thanks for answering the shout out of mine "calling all the Boyz fans of this thread", and giving your take on double 8's departure from Dallas.

Draft starts in t-minus 30 hours. Who's everyone hoping to get?

As a KC native/fan I'm hoping they trade back into the first round, but don't know that they will. At minimum I think they trade up into an earlier pick in round 2. As aggressive as Veach has been in the offseason it's hard to imagine them just sitting still until the 54th. We need a lot of depth, but everyone is obviously most worried at CB which has always been thin and now Peters is gone. Fuller and Amerson could be promising, but rather have the depth in the event someone doesn't work out. D heavy draft for KC this year.

Really hoping the Patriots get Lamar Jackson.

I think Belichick / McDaniels with a mobile QB potentially changes how the NFL plays offense.
