So i recently picked up a set of CB57's on BST and put them against my AP2's 7 iron for 7 iron built both with my favorite shafts.  I hit both well and both were similar distances.  What it came down to was i love the solid feel of the miura's and I was able to work the ball both directions easier with them.

My problem now is that the set I bought was only 6-PW.  I play a 4 and 5 iron as well in my sets but usually like a little more "forgiveness" in my longer irons.  With that said what is a good option for my 4 and 5 iron?  Should I suck it up and get the CB57's or are the 501's or something else easier to hit?  I have contemplated get a 4 and 5 PXG 0311 but have come to my senses that it wouldn't be worth it.

Ok…and, GO!

Not sure about you, but the 501's have way too much offset for my liking.  Even in a long iron.

I play CB57's from 5-PW and 4 and 2 Irons are TM UDI's.  Very happy with this set up thus far.

I also have a new CB 57 4 iron and it looks fairly demanding to hit.

I thought about a 4 UDI but I fear they are not high enough launching for my liking.  And yes, to much offset is a deal breaker…I have an 716 AP1 4 iron currently that I can't stand to look at.

Have you tried the 4 udi?  I have it with a GD DI hybrid shaft and it launches higher than any other 4I I've hit.

I carry a 3 hybrid but can't bring myself to move to a 4 hybrid as well.  I tend to over hook it anyway.

Get a heavier and stiffer shaft.  I just dropped my 5 iron, too.  One of my friends was surprised but after watching me hit 10 of each on the range he was convinced.  From 175 center of green is fine for me.

OP,

Miura ...  Or should I say MG?

... Whoever .... They are coming out with a Driving Iron (ICL-601). Was released in Japan within the past ten days. I've heard rumor of release in the US in the Fall. Could fill your gaps if ya don't mind sitting tight for a minute.

... If I were you. I'd get the CB-57 5 Iron and wait on a Driving Iron for the 4 spot.

JMWRXO, though. (did I just say that? Lol!)

I was in same boat. I tried many 4i. Started with forgiving gi but much thicker top line than my cb501 caused too much variance and less confidence. I'm now using cb716 I picked up used and couldn't be happier.

If you're contemplating btwn 57 and 501, get whatever comes first. But try other cb irons too. Once I got over playing non-matching set, it opened whole wide option for me in 4i

That new MG driving iron is pretty fat.  Check out the new Honma TW-U Forged.  I have the CB-57's 4-PW and just picked up the Honma TW-U Forged in 4i and a 2i for the winter.

Stock shaft is a Nippon 105S, but you can custom order a 105X for no up charge.

I really thought about this before.  The PP 9003 look like great clubs in the long irons.  I almost nabbed a 4 and a 5 on ebay but someone bought the 5.

Yeah, I'm not worried about it being matching.  I have a AP2 716 5 iron right now and have just thought about getting the 4 as well, I have thought about the 716 CB's as well as they have received stellar reviews.

How you liking that Honma? ... Only a handful of companies offer the 27° .... Honma and A-Grind come to mind, but A-Grind is not forged, where Honma is.

The CB57's are small, like the size of my Ping Eye 2's.  I'm swapping out the 4i to try to get a little more distance to fill the gap to the 5w etc.

I would get the CB57 5i at least.  The 4i is tiny, but the 5i is similar to the 6i

Well…after hitting the PXG's I ended up ordering a 0311t in both 4 and 5.  I know…I know…I could have saved a lot of money going with other clubs but I haven't owned any PXG clubs and as a moderate club hoe I had to try.

Well…after hitting the PXG's I ended up ordering a 0311t in both 4 and 5.  I know…I know…I could have saved a lot of money going with other clubs but I haven't owned any PXG clubs and as a moderate club hoe I had to try.

Despite the polarizing price, PXGs are good clubs!

I'm a little bit surprised that you went with the "t" version tho. Thought you were looking for a bit more forgiveness.

I didn't like the offset in the standard 0311.  I felt the 0311t's flowed into the set nicer with a relative similar sizing.

Played with the Passing Point 9003 4 and 5 irons last week with my cbs.  More rounded toe but great feel and similar performance.

I would have responded earlier with Titleist T-MB,  they are a super sweet club and would blend visually well with the 57's.

I'm really digging the Honma TW-U Forged 2i and 4i with my Miura CB57 set (was 4-PW, now 5-PW since the TW-U 4i came along).  The Honma's are a great size and shape to match the CB57s
