If you're talking about your basic after school matches that varies. I know my school did 9 holes with 6 players, and each team took the best 4 scores out of the 6 players for a total team score. Whichever team had the lowest team score won the match for the day.

18 hole tournies for us were usually individual scored events and team scored events. Sectionals you had to have 4 players in for your team score to count overall. top 14 scorers advanced to the next round, no teams advanced because of any single player.

You get to miss school to play golf.  Does it really matter?...but seriously, the 18 hole tourneys were always shot gun starts with different teams filling the course.  Other than that...read above post and have fun.

Depends if its 5 or 6 guys who play for your team but you take the best 4 scores, and total them up. Also up here they put you in pairings with guys from the other teams that are ranked the same, so all the 1s play together, and so on

It's been a few years since I graduated high school, but we had a similar format to the ones above. 5 man teams, best 4 balls are tallied up for overall team score. Individual and team trophies awarded for each event, plus results went towards an overall season long standings that determined district champions and who moved on to provincials (equivalent to state championships in the US).

My team takes the best 7 and we play 9 holes.  They add up the best five to see who wins.

We bring six guys to each meet and take the low four scores.  Prior to this year, we played all 18 hole meets regardless of conference or not.  But since some administrators and teachers throughout our conference thought we were missing out on too much school, we've been screwed into playing only nine per conference meet.

Invites usually bring around 15 teams and they mingle them in with teams not from the same conference.  Just a big shotgun tourney to have fun with pretty much.

this year we switched to stroke play, 6 golfers, best 4 scores count... low score wins...

last year we had quite a match play system. take 6 golfers. that makes 3 groups in a match. in each group there is 3 points you can win. one point per individual matchup and one point for the team matchup. so you have golfer 1 and 2 from school a, 1a and 2a, and golfer 1 and 2 from school b, 1b, 2b. Say everyone pars, and 1a birdies. 1a is up 1 inhis match, and the a team is one up as a team. kinda confusing but idk we got used to it

Our matches after school don't even count for anything until we get to district, regional, and state tournaments.

We dont have "matches"
Different schools around houston host tournaments at different courses and invite different schools. Each bring one or two teams of 5.
Then its just like a regular tournament. Depending on whether its a 1 day or 2 day tournament we play 18 holes per round they take top 3 individual scores and top 3 team scores of the best 4 out of the 5 man team and those places get awarded.

We do 6 guys play, low 5 count. In the 18 hole tournies its usually 4 guys play and 3 count.

In my high school we do 6 players 18 holes lowest 5 count. Combine all of them and the lowest total score wins.
In league tournament days its all the schools play at one course and the same rules apply
