For me rock is dead at this time but I still have hope it will come back at some distant time. Greta Van Fleet Highway Tune is OK but not nearly enough to satisfy my hunger. We need a steady diet of Rock, do we not? Besides maybe some Caged the Elephant or Queens of the Stone Age there hasn't been much for me to like in the past 10 years. I keep searching, hoping, waiting. IMO we went through a bad period in the 80's but thank god for the 90's, 70's, 60's and 50's.

As far as picking a greatest song or songs I wouldn't dare do it. Not even a top 10, 20 or even 100. It changes from day to day to whatever suits my needs for that day. It's a constantly changing list that goes from easy listening rock to heavy metal.

Love Zeppelin but every morning and afternoon I have to go through my Spotify queue to remove the abundance of Zeppelin songs in my list. Radio stations burnt me out on Zeps Rock N Roll 25 years ago. If it comes on the radio I immediately change stations.

You might want to check out David Gilmour's last two solo albums. My cousin is an old 50s born 70s hippie who is hard core into Pink Floyd but he can't get into the last two Gilmour's albums.

And at first listen for me, "On an Island" was terrible. I hated it. But now, it's one of my all time favorite albums and regularly gets spun. I don't know if it's an acquired taste or not, just forewarning you that my cousin just can't be bothered to get into it.

His follow up to OAI was "Rattle That Lock" and for me, like OAI, it has grown on me.

Just some suggestions.

Anything by Chuck Berry.  Need proof?

The spaceship Voyager was launched into deep space in 1977 with, among other things, recordings by some of history's greatest artists including Bach, Beethoven Stravinsky, Chuck Berry and others.  Many years later, after Voyager had traveled several billion miles into space, NASA received a message from a distant civilization that read simply:  "Send more Chuck Berry."

That song is a blast to play. Clean guitar for the verses, then click the distortion for the chorus. And if you have another guitar they add the lead with some chorus and echo. Easy to make it sound really good and lots of fun...

My favorite track of Kid Rock's last album.

Great album. RS gave it 4 out of 5 stars two years ago and I can live with that. My advice though (if you don't like profanity, like me), get the "clean" version.

And Kid Rock just released his latest album - after first few listens it's a good album all the way through. This is my favorite track off of it. I think this is one of the best "rock and roll" songs to have come out in recent years. It's up there. Worthy of being posted here.

That was pretty good. I never liked his rap stuff, but that was simple and good sounding, but dude, that was straight up country. From the guitar phrasing to the lyrics with the classic one-line descriptions (you know like, 'pickup truck on a red dirt road / moon shining bright with my baby beside me / Skynyrd on the radio, etc etc)

I guess. That guitar solo is rockish though, but the song could get airplay on country stations (which I'm sure it will when it's released).

You bringing that up. If I recall back in the day one of his songs (I recall it being "Cowboy" if I recall right) got airplay on rock, pop, rap, metal and country stations when it was released if I remember correctly. That blew my mind - I don't think any other artist ever got airplay on so many different genre stations.

I also never really got into his "rap/rock" style songs. His new album does have two songs that have that sort of flow, but when he doesn't overdo it I can tolerate it.
