Here's the situation...

You are in a tournament and you are keeping someone else's score and they are keeping your score. Anyway, the person's score that you're keeping makes a 6 say, and you ask them to just double check and they say "Uhhh I got a 5."

What are you supposed to say? I usually say something along the lines of "Oh, are you sure it wasn't a 6?" (politely, I think) and usually they count again and go "MMmmgjhsfjd YEAH! :angry22:"

I actually had one kid cry when that happened... :dntknw:

What would you guys do in a situation like that?

I think you handled it properly. Remember, your role as the marker is not to ensure that the person is honest with his score. You are there to protect the rest of the field in the event.

I would then reply with a " I had you down for a 6. Lets go over the hole one more time"

Perfect way to handle it.
You are not "accusing" the player of trying to slide in a lower score or something underhanded....you are basically saying "for some reason I have you down for a 6....lets go over the hole again and see if either of us had made a mistake somewhere."

Pretty much exactly what I do.
