Can shafts from the G30 be use on the 400?  Thanks.

Just put both on swing weight tool before swapping out cause you don't want to be much less than D3, I tested my G shaft in my 400 played ok but was around D2 and 400 stock with grip I use was D3.5

Finally placed my order today. I ended up going G400 with the Tour 65x. I tried the XTorsion, Kuro Kage and Hazrdous yesterday and the Tour was the best for me.

Installed my hzrdus red shaft from my cobra F7 into my g400 sf tec head. First drive of the morning was dead center. Then I thought to myself that maybe it was me the entire time. Installed the hzrdus yellow and left it goes twice. Played the hzrdus red the rest of the round and missed 3 fairways. But my miss wasn't left though. Isn't that just something. Glad I didn't give up on the sf tec head.

Patience and shaft tweaking pays off. I'll play a driver for a month before I make a decision - tweaking what I do, shaft and loft. Good luck.

The ping web site doesn't agree with the reps on head weights. A couple of reps I know have said the standard and LST heads weigh around 202 grams (with screw and tungsten weight) without the copper colored  tungsten infused weight (around 7-10 grams depending on shaft on the models I've measured). The SFT head weighs under 200 grams.  The web site seems to indicate the heads all are 208 grams.
The website says 203g and I'm sure that's what it's said since I've been checking the specs for over a month.

You can't go wrong with the Tour 65x... I jumped ok the 8.5* combo and I couldn't be happier... although I did hit my buddies HZRDUS handcrafted yellow in it and that was pretty sweet to.

Very possible. When I spoke to the Ping WRX department they said that the SF fairway is not draw biased and adding hot melt to the toe would not help create a neutral flight because it already is. Driver may be different

I have no reason to doubt any of what you say, but I grabbed an SFT FW because it's a loft that I thought would work for me an my first thought was my goodness, is that face closed.   And i've never considered myself as being sensitive to face angle.

10 yards is definitely an improvement I would invest in.  I'm not a long hitter, so having one club less into the green means a lot to me.

I tend to agree....On Saturday, the sales rep said he thought he could get an extra 20yds from a new driver...this was based on how far I was hitting my 7-iron (170yds) compared to my G25.  So to get only an extra 10 was a little disappointing.

It was interesting because I could hit my 7-iron further than him, but he could hit driver 260+ yards.

I hit my 7i 175 and driver about the same lol

i have a G400 9 deg and a TPT 17 low kick shaft (63g) to get on a course over the next 2 days - I prefer a lighter weight shaft but it's off a tee, so it may be surprising. I won't be swinging easy, if I did, the result would be embarrassing - I will tee if high, set up for a upward +4 AOA, give it a pop, and see what happens.

Did a 2-3 hour range session with hzrdus red/g400 sf tec.  Not once did I go left and I was getting the left to right ball flight that I like a lot. Cobra F7 head will be for sale for sure. So happy g400 sf tec head worked out.

Does anyone know the head weight of the G30 vs the G400?  Does ping still change the back weight to get a D3 if you cut down the shaft?

I want to get a 44.5 inch playing length G400 with a D2-3 SW.

Today I hit the G400 with the Tour 75 stiff shaft in front of a Foresight monitor with ProV1 balls.

Spin rates for the G25 were 3200, compared to 2700 for the G400. Vertical launch went from 15* to 14* (G400). Carry distance also increased from 235yds to 250 yards. Ball speeds for both were high 140s, maxing out at 150mph.

Whenever I caught one flush, the spin would be 3000+ rpm...if I caught it high on the face, then the spin rates dropped.  So the worse it felt, the further it went.  Is this what you would expect?

Would a 10yd carry improvement be enough to make you pull the trigger?

What other shaft should I test next?
No clarification here on lofts being hit during testing (which is the important variable). But ball speed at 145-150 with carry of 245-250, that is pretty optimized. FWIW if there were a series of shots coming off "high on the face", or above center, the launch should have gone up and the spin gone down (and ball speed might be lower), you are seeing vertical gear effect in this instance. A ten yard carry improvement between any two drivers is a huge difference. I would try the Tour 65 shaft, and actually emphasize results between lofts used on the heads of G400 and G400 LST.        ~KLP   PING Top 100 Fitter

Yes probably because of the "lose an inch, lose 6 SW points" rule.  My guess is that your shaft is 1.5 inches shorter.  If you get Ping to make one it will probably be D3 because they will add 12g to the head weight if they have a copper weight that is that heavy.  Keep in mind 2g headweight = 1 SW point.

I have only played golf for about 55 years so I could use some help from you techies. My current driver is the Ping G25 with an Aldila Rip Phenom 5.0 in R flex (weight is 49 gr.)at 45.25 inches.I was working with a guy at Golfsmith in VA and after many sessions, he convinced me that the lightweight shaft was the best for me. I have promised myself not to replace this driver unless I could find  a driver and shaft to beat it- both distance and forgiveness.

I will be testing the G400 standard head and have my eye on the xtorsion copper in R flex also at 45.25 inches.I have read that the Alta CB is a bit soft and waggling it yesterday seems to confirm that.I am on injured reserves right now and will not be able to test drive the driver for another month or so.

There is so little info on this shaft on the internet and NO info on it on the Aldila website. I understand that it- like the Alta CB- is a counterbalanced shaft. Although I have a counterbalanced putter, I do not know how that relates to the driver characteristics.

When last fitted 5 years ago my driver swing speed is approx.90-95 mph.

From what information I have shared, does anyone have some thoughts whether the xtorsion copper in R may be a good fit for me???

I understand that the xtorsion is 53 gr.  and the Alta CB is 55 gr. in R flexes.                                                           Thanks, Bill

They will add hotel melt to the head as well, they said over the phone every head has hot melt added to it.
Standard practice in all metal wood heads.  If they didn't put a little in every time, you have would have nearly every head rattle at some point.  Just too many little particles left in the head from all the casting and welding to not put it in.  I asked the Chinese foundry we dealt with, what they called the stuff they put in the heads.  They told me it was the "sticky stuff."  I asked them to send me some assuming I would get a syringe or similar of the stuff and they sent me a 2 pound brick of the stuff.  I eventually threw it out because it was impossibly sticky to work with.   Some unlucky seagull at the landfill likely met a gruesome end by landing on it, never to get unstuck.

I'm a little frustrated tonight.  I went through a fitting at Club Champion two weeks ago and my one and two were the 10.5 G400 LST and the 10.5 Epic SZ.  I ordered the G400 as my miss is usually a hook and Ping has always had anti left bias for me.  Now I'm being told the G400 won't ship until Mid September.  I have some big events coming up and am considering the Epic.   Currently playing a 2016 M1, it is good but inconsistent.  I'm also considering picking up a G to tide me over.

I'm thinking of picking up a G LST to play until the G400 comes in.  You play it, how do you like it and have you hit an M1 for comparison?

M1 and any newer TM stuff didn't work for me.  Tried multiple shafts, hate the white, hate the sound.

G is awesome, I'm honestly only going with the G400, because of the size decrease and sound.  I did get improvements in SS and ball speed.  So, nothing negative against my G.   Never hit so many fairways. Note my G has 4 g of hotmelt, to mute it a bit.  Thing is LOUD.

Thanks Kenny.  The loft on the G400 was 9* and the loft on the G25 is 10.5*.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but my local PGA superstore as a dozen or so G400 LST on the rack.
