My local shop said the Ping rep was in yesterday showing all the G400 stuff including irons. He said they have a new finish. He called it a polished pearl. He also said release date was July 5th. Seems like an aggressive date. My source is a very reputable guy. Maybe he heard wrong.  Anyway. I can't believe there are no pics anywhere. If you have em, post em!!

He said it was awesome.  Also said the new graphite shafts for all clubs have color changing technology. Looks like a different color at different angles.  Not sure I'm a fan of that.

Color changing shafts too?  Doesn't sound like Ping.

Slightly higher than the current Gs.  Not sure if I can quote the price yet, so I won't.

And still no photos of them yet! In the thread on the woods etc, it says late July release I believe. Maybe they'll surface soon!

I've always wondered about this. I realize that companies try to control the release to the best of their abilities but it seems the clubs with the most buzz always get leaked well before their release. I rarely see spy photos of Wilson or Tour Edge products until they're released. If a product is truly innovative, some knucklehead will get a picture without permission and post it.

Ping calls the finish on their iBlades, i200 and Glide 2.0 wedges "hydropearl chrome," which is supposed to repel water for more control in wet conditions. Looks nice too!

I play the current G irons so I'm curious to see what the new ones will look like as it will be pretty hard to beat (probably a similar finish to the I200s but with some accents).  However I am confused as to the new naming scheme that Ping has come up with.  200 series for the I's and 400 series or the G's?  I thought they wanted names that would last and be simpler that the earlier 20, 25, 30, etc.?  Guess we'll find out next week sometime.

The ultimate issue with the naming scheme that they wanted, as great as it is, it doesnt suit the internet and our search engine world. Google does a good job of sorting through appropriate results, but what if you are a seller on ebay or a less informed consumer? It is a bit confusing. It was smart to go back to a number and make the new number much larger than the old naming scheme.

I heard $112.50 per club with a steel shaft.  Demos/fitting material should be rolled out around 7/10

Would that be Pings graphite shaft?  How do their shafts rate anyway?

Be afraid. They look that good. Most seamless transition from the I-series to G-series in a long while. Top line is improved.

They are in the same category. My friend has set of 716 ap1 irons and he is loving my G irons. And is looking to replace it with the G400 just like I am.
