Philly looks like the real deal for sure. I think Ben Simmons has a great chance to be the best player in the league in the next 3 to 5 years. He is a really strong leader, great passer and always seems to make the right decisions.

I am happy to see the pacers playing so well today. They got swept last year and played the cavs tough. I think they could win 2 games in this series which is great

You guys should be aiming to win the series. Oladipo was the best player on the floor today and looked the part. No playoff jitters, he just took control today on both ends and outplayed Lebron.

Pacers were tighter on defense, and got the shots they needed on offense. This did not look like a fluke

I won’t be shocked to see okc win this series in 5 games. I have no faith in harden/Paul/D’Antoni especially in the playoffs. Russ is on a mission to get payback over Durant, and I believe this is going to be a great chance for him to do it. I still like the warriors, but i hope this series happens for the world. There will be carnage and blood shed. It would be the series of the past 10 years easy.

The Thunder looked awesome tonight too. Have to remember Utah was easily the best defense in the NBA for the last 3 months, OKC got whatever they wanted in the second half. Westbrook was "good Westbrook" in that he was aggressive, but used it to create for others too. At one point , in crunch time, he set up Adams on 3 straight trips without putting up a shot of his own.

You aren't going to get George shooting as accurately as he did tonight every game. But Carmelo didn't do much and Westbrook was about average shooting wise

OKC is an interesting team for sure, just a major concern that they cannot find a reliable 5th guy who doesn't hurt them on one side. Brewer is always a threat to go 2-13 and Abrines is not a great defender

Lebron is awesome, but it felt like he'd have to do 40-10-10 for the entire playoffs while covering the other teams best guy.

In the second half he took Oladipo for a few possessions and then switched off of him. I just don't know he can take Oladipo all night while hanging 40. I mean who CAN do that?

No one can do that...Lebron might I mean might have been able to do that 7-10 years ago athletically, but he wasn’t has mature or mentally tough as he is now. The thing about Oladipo is he is stealthy and super quick. He almost slides through the defense which makes him really hard to stop. I always think Turner is the X factor for the pacers. If he can give us 20 and 10 all series we’ve got a shot. He can also give us 8 and 2 any given night. If he can produce every night I think the pacers really can win this series. I don’t think Cleveland has anyone big enough/quick enough to stop him down low and he could go off at times. I don’t look for the pacers to play as well all series as they did tonight, but they were he best team in the league in close games. I think I read something like 11-2 in games decided by 3 points or less. I’ve got faith in Victor down the stretch too which is something I could never say for Paul George.

I don't watch much Rockets but is it essentially Harden just dribbling around and then chucking one up 90 percent of the time?

Is Thibodeau still considered to be a decent coach?

I don't think there's a decent "coach" in the entire NBA. Ever since I watched whatever documentary it was (a 30/30?) about how Pat Riley really didn't know anything about coaching when he became "coach" of the Lakers. and Lebron's treatment of David Blatt.

Basically if you're not "coach" of GS, Cleveland or a couple other teams, you're not going to be a good "coach".

I still consider him to be an avocet average coach. His defensive schemes and tough grit attitude will always have a place in the nba. I think the criticism of him has been the inability to adapt to the current nba, and I would agree to some extent. Butler and Wiggins are both long athletic defenders and town being an awesome rim stopper would lead one to believe that they would be an outstanding defensive team. I think their shortcomings are Butler being hurt and offensively. They don’t exactly have a great shooter on the team, but they have enough guys that should be able to spread the floor better. Butler, Teague and Crawford can all shoot well enough. Rose isn’t s shooter and Wiggins is streaky. Towns is incredible and I look for him to continue to grow. On paper they are awesome, but don’t exactly produce.

I think some coaches do a very good job. Brad Stevens is a great example. His guys play very hard and he is famous in league circles for creative play calling. Dwayne Casey will maybe win coach of year and they revamped their offense this year which was a risk when you have two ball dominant stars

Both Quinn Snyder and Brett brown are very highly regarded.

I don't like Thibs. They don't exploit Towns enough on mismatches and he burns guys out in regular season. Even Wiggins they could use more on mismatches, he actually has a good post game. They take a lot of shots where you're like "that's what they got?"

For a true rookie, Donovan Mitchell's play has been amazing. He's aggressive but not out of control, takes good shots for the most part, and athletically is awesome obviously

Mitchell does compare to Wade well, but Wade never had the offensive responsibility like Mitchell when he was a young player.  I would actually compare Mitchell more to a Westbrook.  Mitchell is sort of a poor man's Westbrook in terms of ability, but he makes up for it with higher basketball IQ.

It will be interesting to see where he fits in long term in regards to "position" if that matters. He isn't a natural point guard i don't think, more of a pure scorer who is a good passer too. Ideally i'd like to see him on a team with another creator, because as a "point guard" he'd probably suffer from Westbrook syndrome where he would dominate an offense

It's kind of too bad Hayward left actually. But having Rubio do some playmaking is nice.

Like i don't see Mitchell being some pick and roll wiz with Gobert. I like how they are currently using him

If you hadn't watched basketball for 10 years and just tuned into the postseason, you'd probably think Jrue Holiday was one of the best 5-6 players in the NBA.

His series against Portland was on par with anything we've seen from a guard this year. 28-7-4 on 57% shooting while primarily covering Damian Lillard, who will be 1st team all-NBA potentially, and holding him to 19ppg on 35% shooting. He had a game saving block earlier in the series and just generally caused all kinds of mayhem. He and Davis combined to pretty much reduce Portland's pick and roll to nothingness.

I defended the trade for him from the start, though it was not popular. It came amidst a few other bad trades they did, and Holiday missed his first season in NO with an injury. But this is the player they wanted, a 6'5 point guard who is one of the league's feistiest defenders.

BTW, here is a link to an article written about the trade, basically LOL'ing at the Pelicans and calling it Sam Hinkie's masterpiece. In it you can read about them praising rookie of the year Michael Carter WIlliams and the great potential of Nerlens Noel

https://www.libertyb...trade-nba-draft

The only relevant player left from that deal for the 76ers is Dario Saric, who is a solid player. Holiday is still only 27

I guess this is why you don't analyze trades right away

If I hadn't watched in 10 years and tuned in tonight I'd think Westbrook is a punk out there. He instigates things then backs away and acts innocent.

This is the first game of this series I've watched and it sounds like it's been building, but it's bad.

This season hasn't been great for Westbrook. Have to imagine Paul George will leave and they just dial it back and win 45 games a year.

I still think Westbrook is a top 10 player but someone needs to get through to him. The league is better than it was, you can't win playing one man bully ball. If by some miracle George stays, they need a secondary ball handler to allow (force?) Russell to play off the ball, set screens, make cuts etc.

Fred Van Vleet for example who is really tough defender and can initiate an offense , and has experience playing with a lead guard

It was just kind of shocking to me. I don't watch much throughout the season and just happened to stumble on the game. All the blantantly chippy stuff going on was ridiculous. And it seemed like he was often involved in the initial part and then would step back like he wasn't involved.  The play the Crowder got ejected on stemmed directly from Westbrook. They could call that a play on the ball, but it was much more than that.  Then when Adams and Carmello jumped in the middle he disappeared.

His talent level is unbelievable, that hasn't changed, and maybe its just due to it being the playoffs. And I also don't know what has come before this that has contributed.  It was just my first game watching them for a while and I was surprised.

why we no talk about NBA playoffs?

this is why I hated the durant move; he essentially shifted the entire landscape of the NBA.

LeBron simply owns the Raptors.... His presence is in their heads, no stats to back it up but it's there. With that said I hope that Toronto can win the next 4 and send Bron home.

LeBron didn't win right away with the Heatles in fact they had a soso suppirting cast.

Durant went to a 73 win team. Yes the NBA is now boring because the only way the Warriors don't win another 2 titles in the next 3 years is injuries.

A Cavs Warriors finals will be mildly interesting but probably 4-1 unless LBJ gets more than his usual number of calls.

Iím more excited about a rockets warriors final* if you know what I mean.

Should have made Irving soak and play. What the heck was he going to do about it. This cavs team is made up of garbage but I rather see them play a Durant-less Warriors the final.

The heat won close to 60 games I think the year before, added Bosh then Lebron joined them.
In that day it was the same thing.

I understand no one like Durant going there but what would you do?

You really think Lebron is staying in Cleveland next year? No chance.

Houston is getting ready to field the best team on paper ever. Wait and see. Hopefully Iím wrong but with Paul George leaving OKC the chips are starting to fall into place already
