I think Brian Windhorst reported that at the very least, LeBron knew of the deal beforehand.

I think discussions were also had about Kyrie to Phoenix in a three team deal that would have brought back klutch sports clients , maybe Bledsoe and George I think were involved

He said on Zach Lowe podcast that the deadline deals this year were the first that were made really on their own

I think it's probably a bit disingenuous to say he never wanted Kyrie traded

I had not heard that.

That Kyrie deal looking back now is horrible. They moved up about 20 spots in the draft and got Nance Jr and Clarkson. Seems like they could have gotten a lot more than that. At least a legit starter in return.

You know... with this being a big off season for a lot of teams, maybe we should start the NBA 2018-2019 season thread?

everyone that knew basketball knew that was a fleeced job by ainge.  You trade away a clutch shooter that can create any shot he want for a shortie with a hip issue.

I would agree but Kyrie is not exactly mr durable and could potentially walk. A lot of that trade rides on what Kyrie does next season and beyond. Also what is the pick Cle got turns into something good. It takes a few years to really judge a trade.

Yeah exactly. I wrote this few pages back but remember when Nerlens Noel for Jrue Holiday was a disaster for New Orleans?

Remember when the Warriors were idiots for not trading Klay for Kevin Love..

But with this trade the variables are laid out. No where in the league have a 5 ft 5 point guard dominated. It was essentially a lottery pick and spare parts for a finals winning point guard with 2 years left on his contract at the time.

Ainge could essentially flip kyrie now for a lot better than what Cavs made out.

To me the story leak and damage control was set in. The panic button went hard on Cavs management.

Essentially you are saying the front office failed LeBron and he should leave.

There wouldn’t be a panic if lebron actually committed to the Cavs in the first place. We all know why kyrie left. He didn’t want to be left behind.

Lebron did this to himself by trying to dictate player management. It back fired big time.

Lonzo is an ideal teammate for LeBron. Because James takes away lonzo's biggest flaw right now which is having to create against pressure. Lonzo could just knock down shots, run fast breaks , rotate the ball in his unique way...etc. James would be the point guard so to speak

I just can't imagine what happens the first time LeBron gets asked about some nonsense Lavar said. Or when he says LeBron is holding lonzo back (we know this will happen)

LaVar is not stupid is the thing, I think he lets all these guys know that he's just toying with the media, He is that guy that is the nicest A hole you ever met. You know what I am saying? Would love to see Zo's outlet passes to a streaking Bron.

..and F*** your uncle too Kawhi.

seemed to be the perfect spot for him. small market with minimal press and the dude doesn't interview. the most you hear is if they interview him right after the game or at practice. had a max contract. the best coach and front office. good team. steal of the 2011 draft.

I think the Lakers need to make an incredible offer in order for Pop to trade him to Lakers. I wonder what the Celtics offer would look like and if they are willing to roll the dice on him walking in free agency.

Yeah plus there's a few teams that I am sure would take a one year flyer on him. Cleveland certainly if LeBron stays. So I think San Antonio has leverage even though it's public knowledge now

The Celtics, Sixers, Cavs...plus some other teams we aren't thinking of.

So Lakers will have to pony up.
