Has anyone had success swapping out the bottom weight to through something lighter in there to ease swing weight?

I haven't seen someone go lighter with the hybrid sole weight, but on Callaway drivers I've helped guys drill out some of the mass of the weight to accomplish the same thing.  I'm trying to remember what the weight in the bottom of mine looks like, but it its the version where the threading is out at the perimeter of the weight (i.e. not a screw with all the mass at the head or the weight) then it's pretty easy to just drill out some of the weight from the center.  Not the most scientific way of going about getting a particular swing weight, but it'll get the job done and still look clean.  The aftermarket weights if you can find them are hit or miss in my experience.  Might want to check billybobsgolf.com first to see if they have any Apex compatible weights in stock.

I go to the hardware store to find stainless steel machine screws to use in place of some of the heavier weights in drivers and hybrids. Sometimes it works very well. I bring my driver head or hybrid into the store and just go through the drawers to find the right fit. I get a small rubber washer to fit the screw, also.

This time the width of the sole screw on the Apex prevented me from doing that, so I discovered that a dime worked perfectly. Cleaned out the hole in the sole of the club head, applied 24-hour cure Golfworks epoxy on the lip and around the edges of the dime and waited for it to dry.

I've been playing two hybrids this way since January and no problems!

Attached pic shows one with and one without. :)
