I just got back from the course and feel sick... I lost my most trusted club. It's a Bridgestone j33 5 wood that I happened to grab at a PGA superstore and its been in my bag since. I knew this day was coming... the shaft finally broke. It went out in a blaze. I Hit it dead center face and the ball flew about 250 head about 100. Then my stomach dropped. This club had a ping aldila 350 series X flex  shaft in it. No clue on tipping or anything but I loved it because it was fairly soft and I could work it both ways. I know not many people would want the profile info for this old junky shaft, but anyone have an idea for a cheap replacement? RIP gamma? I have an XCON 6 X in my M2 and like it and considering trying a rul. The ping shaft probably spun it like a wedge but I killed it and could hit fairways. Enough reminiscing, suggestions please?

Can you pick up the same shaft on the Bay? Or how about Amazon? Amazon is a great site for golf gear that many never think to check...

Otherwise unfamiliar with the shaft profile, but good luck with your search.

If it was soft, you don't want the rip gamma - that's one of the stiffest  retail shafts aldila has made.

The NVS would be one of Aldila's softer offerings you could get at a low price.

I would say it felt soft to me. It was just one of those anomalies that happened to work. I'm swinging 5 wood around 112-116 and do not care about distance much at all. I was able to work this club both ways and I think that was do to the softer feel. I really like matrix performance so maybe I should get a matrix with a very smooth profile. I'm thinking either x or xx and "soft step" to get the tip a little more active. Should I stick with xcon 6 or maybe kujoh or radix? I actually want it to spin a good bit so I'm not sure about xcon series.

You're right on RIP,  I was thinking beta but NVS would probably be close to the profile from the ping.

The Rip Beta has a softer tip - but it's still has a pretty firm butt and mid section for a fairly stout feel relative to many other shafts.

Sorry, can't really help with the other ideas you had.  I prefer stouter feeling shafts so don't have a lot of experience with the softer ones.    I did find that the MRC Diamana Kai'li to be fairly soft and UST AxivCore Black was similar I think and the AxivCore Blue was even softer.  So those might be some possibilities as well.

Awesome thanks! I did like feel of the ust blue in a driver but spin was too high, so that should be a good option.
