Has anyone had any luck tipping modus 3 120 shafts?  I'm trying to effectively make a "hard stepped" wedge shaft.  Thanks.

.355 Taper tip shafts aren't designed to be tipped.

You may be able to remove 3/8" (max), as any more than that may affect insertion depth.

Right.  Was curious if anyone had experience doing so. Also, how was the performance changed?

Chopping off 3/8" won't be noticeable other than messing up playing length and swingweight

I've tipped a few wedge shafts 1/2 inch, can't say I could tell a lot of difference in flex.

Yes, he mentioned in some cases you may be able to get up to the 3/8" already mentioned.  But how much you can get away with depends on how well the fit is between the shaft and the hossel.   For a fairly tight fit you may not be able to get the full 3/8" - but as mentioned, that small amount will likely not be noticeable to most.

To go more, you'd have to bore out the head to .370 first.  And then how much you could tip will depend on how quickly the diameter of the shaft normally above the hossel stays relatively parallel or increases.

Just go up a flex and soft-step. If you have 120S, maybe try Tiger-stepping a 120X....ie 8i shaft into wedge. Or just the 9i softstepped.

Thanks.  I'm considering pulling my irons and just reinstalling them 1 club up (PW shaft into the 9i head, 9i shaft into 8i head and so on) to effectively shorten them, hard step them and lighten the swing weight for a firmer setup and lower launch.  Thoughts?
