I just started playing the new Chrome Soft X balls and the results have been: LONG.

I had been playing the Nike Blacks and the original Chrome Softs and when the new X's came out, I thought I'd give them a try. Off the tee, I instantly picked up noticeable distance. But using the irons I had been using for the same distances for the last couple years, I was flying greens all over the place.

I have been clubbing down a full club for most shots now. It took a few rounds to figure out my new distances but now that I've got down what clubs to use from what distance, I'm loving these.

Also, with my drives being close to the hole than I was previously used to has allowed me to be more aggressive on my approach shots and score better.

Has else found unexpected distance from the Chrome Soft X or is it just me?

Can you tell me your swing speed on a driver?

95-99 range. I can reach back and get a little extra sometimes, but I tend to stay around there because I'm very accurate within that range.

I found it to be just as long as any other tour level ball out there. I actually hit my longest drive this year with the Chrome Soft X. I like the ball, but cannot commit as I like the TP5X/TP5 just as much. My ss is around 120.

Well, I haven't been able to swing at those speeds since a back injury 10 years ago, so it's been exciting to be able to get this kind of distance that I haven't been able to touch in a while.

My father has a swing speed in the 88-92 range and he started using these balls too. He's also gotten a noticeable increase in distance. So for us mortals, these balls are a nice surprise.

I personally found I was a club longer with my irons but didn't notice increased distance with my woods

I liked the original chrome soft because I hit them high with the irons  what is your ball flight like with the irons?

I find this ball longer with disclaimers.

Driver - If i launch the ball with more penetrating flight, this ball will roll a lot more than Pro V1x. But if I launch the ball high, the spin will kill any roll once it hits the ground...too much backspin.

Irons - Similar behavior with the driver. I need to get a club longer on my approach to the green as this ball will stop.

Wedge - I can spin the ball back with ease with my wedges.
driver - Callaway Xhot Pro 10.5
hybrid - Callaway Xhot Pro 16/20 degrees
Irons - 3-pw Wilson FG Tour
wedges Mizuno MP-T4 56 & 60. Mizuno MP-T5 - 50
putter - Ping Anser Milled #6
need to spend more range time to hit MP-68 again

Only had a chance to use it chipping and putting and I liked the results.

1.  Ball checked up on the green better than any other ball I've tried when I spun it.

2.  Nice predictable rollout when pitching from a bit further from the hole.

3.  Putting was excellent.  I could easily predict the distance and really liked the feel off the putter.

Any advantages over the TPX?

Definitely seems more controllable than the Chromesoft.

i played a practice round with the CSX and Srixon Q Star Tour (my gamer).  I had a really difficult time adjusting to hitting the CSX with my driver.  Not sure if it was me or something in the ball, but after a couple of holes, I started to hit it long and straight.  It was longer than the QST and seemed to have better dispersion.

With the irons, not much difference.  Perhaps a little longer.

On the green it was noticeable that the CSX just seemed to track better and roll a little further given the same effort with the QST.

Mixed feelings because the QST just felt better overall, but I could see some advantages to the CSX with more time invested in playing it - perhaps a little longer, perhaps some better dispersion, and probably better performance on the green.

I haven't given the the X a shot yet. I was under the impression that you need a 110+ SS to make it work? I like everything about the regular Chrome Soft, except the wind kills it and it's shorter than the TP5, TP5x, and XV!
