I have the Regular C Taper but... Been playing them for basically 3 years now. Look and performing exactly like they were the day I had them installed.

I'm playing them.  It took a little while to adjust, but I've been throwing darts with them lately.  If I built a set, I'd be patient and thorough finding the proper swing weight.  I think all 'light' shafts are like that for me.  I hit them well, but don't feel great about the feel of the head in transition.

I play C Taper Lites in X flex, soft-stepped once, and it's my favorite iron shaft I've gamed. Shaft weignt is the most important variable and I like the 115g weight, having previously played that weight in the Project X 5.5 (longtime DG S300 player before PX.) I don't swing as well with lighter shafts. Tried the Modus 105 and hit them way too high. Tried the Steelfiber 95 and same problem. I think 110-120g is my sweet spot range.

Tested a lot of shafts on a launch monitor and I got great results with the CTL-X.

To me, C Taper Lite is the shaft for those who like the penetrating flight of PX in a shaft that's not as harsh. Very accurate. Excellent performance. The dart throwers description matches my experience. They don't balloon.

Current lineup:

TM M1 440 Tour Issue, 10-degree, Diamana B Series X,
67g.
Nike Flex 3 wood, Diamana S-70 stiff
Callaway Epic 5W, Hzrdus T800 S, 65g.
Callaway Apex hybrid, 20 degree, Kuro Kage 80HY stiff shaft
Mizuno MP-59, 4-P, PX 5.5
(Coming: Srixon z565 4 iron, z965 5-P, C Taper Lite X.)
Ping Glide 50, 54, CFS wedge shafts
Fourteen RM12 58/12 sand wedge
Edel Rogue putter (thick blade), 34 inch.

What flex are you playing Matt? Did you have to add lead tape or anything?

I play taper lite S 110 and it's been my favorite iron shaft to date. I haven't hit the 115 X yet but really want to compare them to what I have now. I feel I can control them very easily and to me they are very smooth.

Tried them for a while in my 745s and I didn't care for them.  They just felt dead and unresponsive.  Ball flights were inconsistent as well as distances... pulled them and put my 5.5 flighted shafts back in, much better shaft for me.  For a 110g, I liked the Tour V much better.

Who invited you to this party? Haha kidding of course. Are you an aggressive or smooth swinger? Why do you think they didn't work? What flex were you using?

Cashing this party!!!!!!!!

Obviously it looks like I am in the minority though.... I am much more on the smooth side with driver SS around 100-105.  I was playing the CTL stiff, 110g.  I am not sure why they didn't work.  I tried them since the Mizuno shaft optimizer recommended them but they just weren't for me.  The PX 5.5 flighted seems to be such a great shaft for me, may just be an overall better fit.  I feel like those who say PX are too "boardy", are most likely playing a flex too stiff.

No, never overpower them. My ss is not super fast or slow, but above average at 105 with driver. If I were faster, I might consider the C Tapers.

But the lites in X flex, while not a shaft I would necessarily call stout, are certainly a staff I can step on. In fact, that is my major swing flaw, getting too quick in my transition. And the CTL still stays stable, one of the things I like about it.

No lead tape.  I think they have pretty heavy tip weights.  I probably best fit I to S300 maybe S400 but they hurt my wrist and elbow.  I might take them apart and see if I can build them back two or not SW points heavier.

That's good news. I get too quick as well and worry about overpowering them, but c tapers seem like they might be too low launch/spin for my sweeper swing.

I play them in X flex & it's the best iron shaft I've played, so accurate its ridiculous, I've never taken aim with such confidence ever.
My driver SS is 112-117 & play a 75x there, the C-Taper lite x holds up no problem, I've never overpowered them, my 6 iron SS is about 95-98 mph, hope this helps.

Dang you. The exact info I need to pull the trigger lol. Thanks fubuman!

I have been playing standard 120g stiff flex C-tapers in my irons for 9 years (across three sets of irons).  I bought Taylormade's UDI 2 iron a few years ago with a 110g stiff flex C-taper lite shaft, and absolutely loved the performance.  As a result, for this season I replaced the 120g stiff flex C-taper shafts in my 3, 4 and 5 irons for 110g stiff flex C-taper lite shafts.  For me, I still prefer 120g stiff flex C-tapers in my shorter irons.

That said, the performance results from the switch to C-taper lites in the long irons has been amazing.  My carry distances increased by approximately 5 percent, my trajectory (and the ability to more easily generate a draw) has improved, without sacrificing dispersion.

Hope that helps.

I played the c taper lites in my 716 AP1s. They felt great and I hit them really straight. My problem was the ball balloned on me a little bit and seemed to spin a little too much. I was back spinning 6 iron shots 3-4 feet on firm Arizona greens. I switched to the callaway steelhead Pros with the KBS tour V and I've gained 5-7 yards an iron. The ball seems to penetrate through the air with that combo and checks up a foot forward of my pitch mark with a 6 iron. For me the KBs tour V worked better than the C taper lites, (or maybe it's the difference in club head). My driver swing speed is 105mph FYI.

I had this shaft in a mizuno 58 4 bounce t5 wedge.  This combo to date was theee best weapon from within 50 yards ive ever used.  And trust me, ive ho'd a lot.  The wedge head was a lot lighter then others, which is why i think it works so well.  I had this shaft in a vokey and it still felt like crap.  Sometime when you marry the right combo like a ping eye 2/zz lite, you get your unicorn.  If you do find that combo, don't sell it!!!  Go store it in the garage and let it collect some dust.  And 3 to 6 months from now you'll be dusting her off, saying you'll never leave her again.
