So, bought a shaft on Ebay that was advertised as "used, but with zero signs of use".

The only image on the listing was of the shaft, not of the adapter. But based on the description of "zero signs of use", I bought the shaft.

Arrived yesterday, and I personally feel that the condition is not as described. Adapter has significant wear and paint chipping (see pics).

Is this worthy of a refund. The shaft does show zero signs of use, but to me, I see the adapter as an integral part of the shaft and thus can't be excluded for the condition of the shaft. Chips on adapter are right in my line of sight on the hosel and extremely distracting.

What say you?

if you have to come out of pocket to fix the bad adapter install job then I'd send it back based on that alone.

That tip is garbage. If they didn't includes photo of that, they were purposely being deceitful. Granted, you probably should have asked for more photos as due diligence, but you're well within your rights to return as not described. Asking for a partial refund for whatever the cost is to replace that adapter is an option, though I think that would be up to the seller. If the seller is unwilling, then it comes down to you deciding if the price was good enough that you just eat the repair. If the seller isn't willing to cooperate you'll probably win a dispute, though I think you'd probably be on the hook for return shipping.

Personally, if a tip looks like that on a shaft that shows little signs of use, I'd be afraid of what's waiting under that adapter when I went to replace it. I'd just contact the seller and ask him to start a return. If he's unwilling to voluntarily, start a claim. But, like I said, the deal may have been so good that just having the tip dealt with would be the more prudent course of action rather than dealing with the return (especially if you have to pay for shipping).

Long story short- it was a poor description, and I'd be upset if it showed up looking like that (including s little upset with myself for not asking for more/ better photos). At the end, though, only you can decide if the hassle is worth it to return or just suck it up and deal with getting it repaired.

Might see if they would be willing to refund enough to buy a new adapter and get it installed correctly. Other wise I'd be returning it for sure.

Looks fine to me. Touch it up with a black Sharpie and call it a day?

Really hard to see from the pics how chewed up it is.  The OP should know whether it locks in place and if so, personally I'd Sharpie/paint and keep moving. But, that's my opinion and I didn't pay so, it's not worth much.
