I'm in north alabama and we have our's end of July.  It's always hot as balls.  I want to play in it, but not at 100 degrees with 80% humidity.
When I lived in Virginia, my club had it in the fall.

When does your club hold it's championship and what part of the country are you in?

August or September in NM.  Weather is high 80s to low 90s depending upon how much monsoonal crap we got going.  I don't mind the heat, but dislike the wind and T-storms that the monsoon season brings.

Our city has it's championship every year, the first weekend in July. That's usually the first good weather you can count on in Portland, OR. It's at Eastmoreland Golf Course, about 10 minutes from our house. That would be great, as that is also my birthday (or pretty close). The bummer part is, my wife's family always comes up from LA and southern OR for my birthday and 4th of July. So, I never play in it, due to too many family obligations and BBQs, etc. It's usually just starting to get HOT, up here, we seem to go from 65* to 95* in a day. So, it can be suffocating, as you have no time to get used to it.

4th of July weekend. I'm in NY though so we don't have too many days where it's honestly too hot to golf, although plenty are warmer than I'd prefer.

Middle of August when I was working/playing at a club that had it.  Not bad a few years, but one it was 105 when we started and it was miserable.

Early August.

Central Illinois

I won't play in heat either, but since I have no desire to play tournaments it doesn't matter.
swing is irrelevant, score is everything

Sorry OP but it's hot here in Florida also and my leagues play all year long. One of them (I play in two) plays every month and the other is every other month. So I am out there in the Florida heat toughing it out and dealing with it. Since everyone playing is up against the same sort of heat it's not like anyone has some unfair advantage.

The key for me is drinking plenty of water (and zero alcohol), using a cool towel, and wearing a ton of sunscreen. Also important to eat a banana at the turn to put some potassium back into the system.

September.  Still pretty warm and humid (as always) in Houston but does not really bother me.  We used to hold it in October but finally got it moved to September since less chance of getting rained out.

Totally different part of the world being in Scotland but our Scratch Club Championship is in June, it just finished on Saturday.

We play ours Wednesday through to Saturday with a 36 hole cut taking it down to the top 24. On the Wednesday and Thursday the tee times run from 4pm to 6.30pm. We had it at about 18-20 degrees Celsius those couple of nights, just a perfect temperature for playing golf.

At this time of the year, with us, the sun doesn't go down until after 10pm and it's light enough out to be playing until about 10.30 or 10.45 depending on whether or not is sunny or not. It doesn't half make for a long few days though. Work, Golf, Bed, Work, Golf, Bed for a few days.

Sounds like fun - that's my whole summer, except on weekends when it's Euro Tour, golf, bed.

Hope to experience a late spring or summer evening of golf in your highlands, can't imagine a better place for golf.

Live in East Texas, we play in early August, it's a really bad time.  There is a reason we had a guy suffer heat stroke and pass out two years ago in the final round, EMTs were called and had to drive down the 17th fairway.

I moved here from Durham NC, we used to also do it in August, just as bad, worse actually since we had bent grass greens and they couldn't be cut short.  The last 2 years I lived there they moved it to October, huge difference, greens were awesome and fast.

Played this morning. Within two holes I was soaked. Completely and totally.

I carry a towel with me to wipe the sweat and it was a good thing I had it today. My hat was dripping off of the brim and without the towel my eyes would have been burning.

But....

I drank a gallon or more of water. Along with some mixed Poweraid. And I never felt weak or anything.

I honestly feel for those who visit Florida this time of year and aren't prepared for it. It is a dangerous heat. I cannot count the number of people who I have responded to with heat-related illness.

The key is simple. Pre-hydrate and then just continue to drink water with the goal of having clear urine.
