Wal-Mart really trying to increase their e-commerce.   I don't anything from Bonobos but they appeared to be a quality product.

This is bad news. Bonobos is a solid brand. I don't expect Walmart to do them any favors.

Oh no....

Maide by Bonobos makes excellent golf apparel. The Highland Pants are A+

WalMart will cheapen the products and processes so they can sell it for less than half the price, and the whole brand will go to sh*t.

I was wondering if something was up after they re-branded their golf line from Maide to just Bonobos Golf and then stopped running any kind of promos. This is really a shame.

This reminds me of one of my favorite jeans company, Rock and Republic.  They were all the rage, high end pair of jeans.  They went bankrupt and was bought out by another denim company, 7 for all Mankind.  7FAM was a premium denim company as well and I thought they would take care of the R&R brand.  Unfortunately, they brought it down to the normal price range which was $179-220 that sold at places like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, to $39.99 to sell at Kohls.  Of course, the quality wasn't the same nor was the style names.

EW this sucks.  I wear Bonobos chinos now almost exclusively for work.  I've always thought they make about the best chinos, from a look, fit and feel perspective.  I may go stock up.  I pretty much boycott Walmart (having a family member spending 30 years working for Big Lots will do that to a person)

Yeah but Bonobos wasn't on the verge of bankruptcy.  R&R was already toast long before they were purchased.  I thought Bonobos had been steadily growing.

I made an appointment go to Bonobos on Sunday to load up just in case there are major changes coming. Their pants are pretty amazing. They basically offer any type of fit you want/need.

Wow. Bonobos pants are great, the Maide line is terrific.

If the quality stays the same, the value of the Bonobos line will be great - but I don't think that is going to be the case.

As someone above mentioned, you may want to stock up on Bonobos and Maide stuff because the next batch won't be as good.

Ugh, this is terrible news. I probably have 15 pair of the chinos for work. Their daily grind shirts are nice too. I hate everything about Walmart. I don't see how this is going to be good for Bonobos. They are the one brand that actually makes nice stuff that fits in shape people well and isn't ungodly expensive (I don't pay retail, but with sales they are decent prices).

I'd buy as many pairs now as you can afford.  Walmart is guaranteed to turn Bonobos into a worthless lump of turds.

These are some of the very few pants that actually fit well. They really figured out how to create a waist that is comfortable.

If you compare prices to say, banana republic, they are pretty similar without sales. If you pick stuff up on sale, it isn't bad at all. Also keep in mind the retail cost of regular adidas or under armour pants or shorts, not too far off.

I have been buying Bonobos for 10 years now.  I really hope they can maintain where they are today.  Free shipping both ways and 365 day exchanges are unheard of today.

I hope I'm wrong about this, but from what I've read about the deal Walmart is trying to develop their online presence, something Bonobos has been on the leading edge of with regard to clothing.  Heck they didn't even have brick and mortar exposure until fairly recently.   I'm hoping Walmart isn't going to be carrying or marketing Bonobos clothing at all.

That's what I hope happens as well.  I've read there are no plans to carry Bonobos in stores, but, we will see if that holds true (retail shopping as we know it in brick and mortars is dying each day anyway).  I do get concerned, even if Walmart doesn't carry them in stores, that the product quality will change for the worse.  Walmart will need to meet market expectations.  Bonobos will be part of those expectations.  It would not shock me at all if Walmart sources cheaper materials and/or processes while keeping prices similar.  In effect, ruining what is so great about the Bonobos line.  A product which is only slightly more expensive than competitors but a significantly better product than it's competitors.  I write this while wearing one of my 7 pair of Washed stretch chinos.

How do you like them vs the regular chinos? I have a lot of the regular. How much stretch is there?

So I had 4 pair of the original Bonobos Chinos.  They were getting pretty old and needed replacing (5-6 years of consistent wear).  So I bought 2 pair of the stretch washed chinos.  It's a game changer for me.  Im a really broad guy with fairly bulky/muscular legs (I can't wear any of the slim fit stuff from them because they are skin tight in my thighs).  The stretch chinos are softer and give a little.  I found them to be much more comfortable in those areas where the original ones could tighten up a bit (like sitting/bending in the thigh area with the original ones.. never uncomfortable but always felt a little tight) the stretch version is perfect.  They also seem to wash a little better and have seemingly held their shape better (I wear them a handful of times before washing).  The first 2 pair I bought were different colors so I could still wear the original ones.  I found myself hating the non stretch ones after wearing the stretch version and so I just replaced all of them haha. I have 4 or 5 pair of the stretch and 2 pair of the summer weight.  I work in a more casual business casual environment, they are what I wear everyday now.

I think the best way for me describe the difference between the stretch and original is like with denim.  when you wear those cheaper/lower end denim and then go and buy that pair which is twice as expensive and your sure it's worth it... then you put them on and they are like sweat pants... The stretch chinos are like that but on a much smaller scale because the original version of the chinos was already pretty darn good.

thanks, you probably cost me some $. I am the same, I have about 5 pair of the slim and I like how they fit/look standing but sometimes are a bit tight in the thighs sitting or bending down.

So they are basically like comparing a regular jean to a traveler jean?

I just counted, and I think I have 20 pair of the regular chinos. I didn't even realize it. I just bought a bunch for extremely cheap. If I could add the Russian roulette emoticon on the app, I'd put 5 there right now.

Yeah that's probably a good comparison on the regular denim to the traveler.  I just think the stretch adds a bit more comfort.  They are def worth a shot.

A real bummer.  Bonobos is THE place to get pants if you're tall and thin.
