The coverage is much better than CBS and they are suppose to be the standard ... Even with that fat hack Lance Barrow

I watched more of the featured groups anyway while I triple task

Sky's coverage has the Fox feed but their own commentators including Butch Harmon who I always find very informative to listen to. We do still get the Fox "voice of..." graphics on the screen - did I see Ken Brown's name mentioned? He's always very entertaining so it cant be all that bad.
"Carol Vorderman..... I was watching her the other day .....and I got aroused...............7 letters ... not bad for someone who left school at 15"

Gotta love Peter Alliss!

I prefer watching it on SKY (would have both opportunities),  just because of Butch Harmon!!! :-) Murray, Coltart and Riley are great too.

I have a suggestion for making the FOX telecast more enjoyable.  Drink a shot of Patron tequila every time someone on the telecast says the word "fescue".

I did this yesterday, and I have to say, after about 3 minutes, I really didn't notice any problems. I have a little teeny headache today, but I think that's allergies.

I watched the FS1 coverage during the day and it really wasn't that bad.

Then coverage moved to Fox and Joe Buck and crew took over. Not so good. I can listen to him during baseball games and even some football games, but he's hard to listen to when talking golf.

I have a math question. Or is it a course set up a question?   At least twice on the FOX telecast someone made reference to the fact that the course was set up at 7800 yards, and that made the course a "nine mile walk".   7800 yards is more like 4.4 miles.  Now I understand they don't walk it in a straight line, but even I don't go sideways that much.
Is this one of those courses with 300 yard walks from green to tee?

I didn't get to watch continuously, but when I did, I felt like I was watching the same 2 groups.  I don't need to see them reading putts for 5 minutes, that time would have been better spent showing one of the other golfers.

Bingo... Some lengthy walks between green and next tee. Players were "complaining" about that.

In regards to the coverage it is not too bad from what I heard. Pretty much all golf coverage is pretty bad. Preferred putting on some music and sipping a nice bourbon!

Yep, I rarely listen to commentary when watching golf. It really doesn't add anything. Just flip my soundbar to bluetooth and stream some music.

The video coverage is acceptable. But the commentators sound like they are straight out of a cheap amateur production. They need to hire some professional golf announcers. Joe Buck sounds like he wants to be somewhere else. He should be. I will take NBC golf coverage over this any day of the week.  Going to turn sound off. I love watching the US Open but Fox is terrible. The USGA should have considered the consequences before taking the money grab.

Lot of complaining going on here.... I loved all the protracer, loved when they cut to exciting shots either good or bad, I did like some of the background they gave on Erin Hills even though i read the 5 pt story early in the week. Some of the angles they had on putts, bunker shots, and even fescue shots were great. Wish people wouldn't complain so much.... It isn't perfect but nothing is...

Thank God Fox does not play the CBS/NBC game of 'manufactured drama'

The commentary is debatable but at least we're able to watch some actual golf being played, by everyone!

Not to mention the drone shots really are beneficial - for example Sergio's shot today that ended up funneling about 30 yards short of one green (i forget which). Behind the green camera could not even see the player in the fairway, but the cut to the drone showed exactly how ridiculous the shot was, and gave an entirely new perspective.

I absolutely abhor Joe Buck... but this coverage is excellent.

Joe Buck tries too hard to be his dad.   Calls a good MLB game - golf, not so good.

If Phil or Tiger, or better yet Phil and Tiger were playing - all would be right with the coverage and the US OPEN.

Think most of the criticism is with the commentary which is justified in my opionion. But it's easily avoided so just press the mute button or flip on some music. But complainers gonna complain I guess.

I don't listen to the commentary anymore, Buck has neither the voice, nor (more importantly) the reference for the game.  You have to be aware of the subtleties and context associated with the shot to offer value as a broadcaster, IMHO.

Case in point, there was a brief segment on the PROPOSED rule change regarding leaving the pin in while playing a stroke on the putting green... It really needed to be said that this was not a guaranteed change, as the segment implied it will be adopted if not already in effect.  No disclosure made in the segment itself, no follow-up by Buck or anyone else... nothing.  Ignorant at best, misleading at worst.

Also, I understand that the field is full of noobs due to the qualifying nature of the championship... but these guys need to be prepared to pronounce the name of EVERY single participant if need be.  Not sure who it was, but someone absolutely butchered Bernd Wiesberger's last name, even referring to him as "Michael" at one point.  C'mon man, the guy has played in the event for the past 3 years, and even played with Rory in the final pairing at the 2014 PGA!

Thankfully, the main source of value Fox adds to the broadcast is ProTracer, which still works perfectly fine with the volume muted.

Bingo... Some lengthy walks between green and next tee. Players were "complaining" about that.

In regards to the coverage it is not too bad from what I heard. Pretty much all golf coverage is pretty bad. Preferred putting on some music and sipping a nice bourbon!

Now I know I would hate the place.  If it's public and isn't walkable it's a joke.

Yeah, they should hire someone professional like Gary McCord.

Absolutely agree. McCord feherty and nance.  The only 3 that should be allowed to call men's golf.

And yes I did get that you were being sarcastic.  You just happened to be correct as well.
