Tested this shaft out as an X-Stiff with a TM M2 at Golf Galaxy the other day.  The short summary is that I really liked it.

My question: Is there a cheaper alternative to this shaft that has very similar specs?

Thanks!

was told the UST Elements chrome+ 7 tipped .5" is close to the same, but just a touch softer tip section - hence the need for tipping.

Has anyone seen a review comparing the handcrafted HZRDUS Yellow to the no-upcharge one that you can get with a 2017 M2?

I have a handcrafted black and mass-produced black and they are virtually identical - the only difference I've found is the non-hc one is missing the "Hand Crafted" stamp. The yellow is the same way. The only difference between the 2 is how it's made, not what it's made with.  Obviously, there are going to be differences in manufacturing tolerances but otherwise, no difference.

A club fitter is pushing me to get the handcrafted one.  Am thinking you just saved me $250.  Thanks!!

Sounds like you need to find a new club fitter.  I get he's trying to make some money and if you don't care about price, fine, but any good fitter should be working within your budget as well as your needs.  Yeah, no reason to go handcrafted unless you want the bragging rights.  Or you can get it for non-hc prices.

Did you purchase yourself or go through a fitter?  If you did it yourself, where did you buy from?

From the ei profiles I have seen the yellow is very similar to the project X lz 70. The lighter weight lz have a different profile.

The black and red I have not found any very similar. They both have very stiff butt and mid.

I ordered it directly through the Taylormade guys who did a big demo day.  It's not the tour truck, but they have a ton of gear and seem to travel throughout the region.
