Why August is so light for Junior golf events (at least in Mid West)?

I notice that there are many junior golf games in June and July, but very few in August.  For example, our local PGA junior tours run from mid-June to end of July, and conclude at end of July.  Hurricane Junior Tour will have 3 events in here in the month of June and July, 2 in September, but zero event in August.  Have anybody else wonder the same thing?  It kinds of sucks because golfers in mid-west typically have the best form in August, but there are no quality local events to play....

I am not sure why up north you would see a slowdown other then it  must be peak golf time and most courses are very busy.  In Texas the peak times are May and it seems like not many places have junior tournaments that time of year unless it is a muni.

We also see a slowdown in August because of the heat and the fact that school starts back up in August here.  Down here tournaments are every week so it nice to take a break let them have fun playing golf without pressure during these times.

If kids are old enough they should be competing in state Men's Amateur and Women's Amateur events June-August.

It is like this for Junior golfers in Minnesota:

The entire winter - virtually no golf;
March to Mid-June:  with school in full session and fluctuating weather condition (it can be really cold through end of May), sporadic golf;
Mid-June to July:  Summer break.  The majority of the golf events occur in this time period.  Kids have to work hard to get back in form while playing in competitions.  It is tough to balance between golf practice and playing games.
August: Still summer break. Kids in best golf form.  But very few golf games.
September: school starts.  Occasional golf.  Wait for next year.

You need to change your profile name to like Minnesota Golfer.  Golfer55082 is so generic I can never remember who you are. LOL...

In South Florida we have
SFPGA June 2 events July 3 events  August 1 event
FSGA  June 1 event  July 1 event August 1 event.  The FSGA is the premier Junior Tour in Florida and there are only 3 junior events.  They expect kids to play in the Men's and Women's Amateur events as well as qualifiers during these months.

I think most of the tours bow down to the big summer events.  I know with the SFPGA very few kids are participating during the summer months.  Most of the older kids are AJGA, North/South, Bubba Connley, etc.  At the end of the day I think it comes down to numbers.  There aren't enough younger kids (under 13) playing to justify the means to hold the event while older kids (13 and over) are playing national events.
