I picked up a Neo when Amazon had a deal going, and was pleasantly surprised for six rounds. It picked up satellites quickly, and was always within a yard or two of other range finders in my group. It advanced to the next hole without fail, and was easy to read in all light conditions.

On Thursday, my cart partner had a glass of water that splashed onto my Neo. The GPS unit was not doused, immersed, or even sprinkled on. It was splashed with what might have been a tablespoon of water.

The unit is now dead, and moisture has clouded the screen from the inside.

As golf is experienced outdoors, and in an environment where moisture is common, I think it is reasonable to expect a golf GPS to at least be water resistant. Dropping it on grass wet with morning dew is just one example of how a GPS unit may be exposed to moisture. Heck... I've even heard of golf being played in mist or light rain.

Needless to say, I would recommend against the purchase of this GPS unit.

That's brutal. I was on the fence and didn't buy 1. Hopefully you sent it back!

When I had a Neo Ghost it played through worse than that a few times. Was yours the Ghost? If so something must have been defective about yours specifically IMO.

I have had mine for almost 2 years playing in light rain with unit exposed on the bag with no problems. To say the least your experience is unusual.

Is this a watch? I have a NEO-x watch that states it's waterproof and I've had no troubles with it in light rain. I'd contact Bushnell.

assuming you're not talking about the ghost, I had one several years ago and it was not good at maintaining signal.  if you put it in your pocket you would lose the signal, that sucked.  would assume that newer versions/gps have a better chip nowadays.

op should try the cell phone trick and put the unit in a bag of rice for a day or 2.  chances are decent it will work again

Lots of different variations of the Neo.

The original Neo,  the Neo+ (both hand held and watch), the Neo X,  the Neo XS, the Neo Ghost and Neo ION.

I've had the original and the XS - neither had any problems with moisture - even in the rain.

And if it's that new and one of the current models, you should be able to get a replacement - just contact Bushnell CS.

Until the next time it gets exposed to moisture.

Yeah, send it back. I had an issue with the cable.  They replaced it quickly, no questions. Mine is the older neo x. Into its third year, probably 110 rounds, no issues.

Is this Neo Ghost worth it for 50 bucks? I'm looking for something I can clip/velcro/strap onto my push cart handle so I don't need to break my phone out all the time. Something cheap to pair with my 100 dollar range finder.

My Neo Ghost worked fine, within the normal parameters of playing golf with GPS. In the end I preferred the laser and quit using GPS altogether.
